Dishonest Surf Suit Guarantee

We are a family of five, all surfers, and we have never had a wetsuit that didn’t last for several years. I purchased a Billabong wetsuit for my son at Surf 58 in Ericeira, and after just a few months of normal use, the neoprene around the neck, seat, and wrists started to deteriorate and tear. I brought the suit back to activate the two-year warranty. It remained at the shop for about six months until I was told it was ready for collection, but when I picked it up, it was exactly the same. I was then told that the warranty only covers the seams. I do not find it honest to advertise a two-year warranty when, in practice, a wetsuit that deteriorates and tears after only a few months of normal use is not covered. The store’s warranty and after-sales service policy is neither serious nor effective.

Forget buying wetsuits there

Just don't go buy wetsuits at 58surfshop, although the staff it's super nice we (me and wifey) had the worst experience with warranty on suits (1 Billabong from wifey and 2 Rip Curl from me)... the always say that problems are from usage (all situations happened with suit less than 1 year old) which means that quality SUCKS, nad that even for a case of nylon delamination on a Rip Curl - funny enough had the same happening with another Rip Curl bought directly to them and the just replaced it, no questions, where 58 says it's usage. Terrible service

Un auténtico desastre

Un auténtico desastre! He comprado una cazadora pagando el primer plazo y despues de casi 10 días no he recibido nada.. .no contestan a los @mail ...acabaré denunciando en la oficina del consumidor!!!!!!COMPLETAMENTE DESCONSEJABLE!!!!

Damaged board during shippment

This review could have been just one star.
I ordered a very specific surfboard i could only find at 58Surf to be delivered in France. Delivery was Epic, fault is on crappy french shipping company during lazy summer time.
Not only i had to wait long to get it, but the board was damaged when i opened the package. It is a fish board and both nose and 2 tails were broken.
I couldn't imagine sending it back and waiting another 10 days to surf the local mushy waves.
I reached out to their happy customer service and Eunice and Mauro took care of my case. We agreed i would have it fixed by local shaper and they would shoulder the costs.
All went smoothly and i have been riding it since fixed. Pure dope!
Great job guys.

Ich habe dort eine Sonnenbrille…

Ich habe dort eine Sonnenbrille gekauft,die nach einmal tragen kaputt ging,der Bügel ist gebrochen.
Man hat sich davon auf Anfrage nichts angenommen,sondern behauptete,es gebe viele Gründe,warum der Bügel gebrochen sei.
Unterirdischer Service,Ich rate ab,dort zu kaufen.

Doesnt even deserve one star.

I had a really disappointing experience with 58 Surf Shop Baleal and cannot recommend them after what I went through.

I bought a Billabong 4/3 Synergy wetsuit from this shop in March 2025. After just two uses, the wetsuit developed delamination in the rib area — an issue that clearly points to a defect in the material. I used the wetsuit exactly as intended, for surfing, and have the exact same model in a 5/4 thickness that never had any issues.

Instead of taking accountability and honoring the brand’s own one-year warranty policy, the shop refused to acknowledge the issue as a defect, claimed it was due to "misuse," and only offered to repair it “as a courtesy.” A repair does not restore the quality of a product that failed after two uses — and a shop selling premium gear should know better.

What made this even worse is that I had to deal with the whole thing during my holiday, and now that I'm no longer in Portugal, the shop is essentially telling me they’ll either repair it or return it to the store — knowing I can't pick it up. Zero effort to find a fair solution.

Customer service has been dismissive and completely unhelpful. For a shop that sells high-end surf equipment, this kind of treatment is incredibly unprofessional.

If you're looking for quality gear and decent after-sales support, I’d recommend shopping elsewhere.

I had a very good experience with…

I had a very good experience with them... we exchanged several emails to get information on the size of the bodyboard then a month passed I sent them another email and finally I purchased... they might have thought I was just a nuisance who wouldn't buy but they were kind and helpful (I'm a trader too) impeccable packaging reasonable shipping from Portugal to Italy in 5 days... I'll try to make other purchases here

Watch out

Watch out! Sold used board as new

I purchased a surfboard that was advertised as new, but what I received was clearly used, with dings, pressure dents, and obvious repairs. When I raised this with the shop, they refused to offer any compensation, stating that it was on sale. It’s unacceptable to sell a used board as new, and the lack of responsibility from their customer service was disappointing.

Terrible service

Terrible service. They have RipCurl Flashbomb on their website with 20% discount specifying that it was available in the shop in Ericeira. Tried to call 3 times to verify but nobody picks up. So I took my car and I went from Carcavelos to Ericeira (40 kms). Turns out there was a mistake on the website, that specific wetsuit wasn't available and there was no chance to get the same discount on any other Flashbomb. No apologize. No chance to talk with the manager. No respect whatsoever. Travelled 80 kms for nothing. All that despite being a pretty loyal customer, spending there a few Ks in the last couple of years. So disappointing.
