Tja, Licht und Schattem

Tja, wie andere das auch schon beschrieben haben, gab es Licht und Schatten. Wir hatten einen Mini Cabrio fÃŒr 120 € plus 20 € um die Selbstbeteiligung auf 620 € zu drÃŒcken; ohne Selbstbeteiligung geht hier nicht. Die Tankanzeige hatte zwei Striche, so sollte ich den auch wieder abgeben. Da wir noch den ganzen Tag unterwegs waren und ich nicht anduernd tanken wollte, habe ich natÃŒrlich viel,zu viel nachgetankt.
Das Auto selber war von außen ok, innen drinnen einfach nur dreckig und auch so, dass man sagen mÃŒsste, dass es schon sehr lange her war, dass es mal gereinigt wurde. Die LenksÀule hat bei jedem Lenkvorgang merkwÃŒrdige GerÀusche gemacht, hat aber alles gehalten. Ärgerlich war eher, dass das Mediasystem auf griechisch eingestellt war und ich keine Chance hatte, mich damit zu verbinden, um das Carplay zu nehmen und ein Navi zu haben.

Ansonsten war das Auto vom Motor her ok, hat alles soweit funktioniert, aber fÌr das Geld hÀtte ich etwas mehr erwartet

Regarding the insurance and additional charges: the rental price and insurance options are explained before booking and again at pickup. In car rental, a deductible/excess is standard unless a customer chooses and pays for additional coverage to reduce or remove it. This is how rental insurance works everywhere, as the vehicle remains the property and responsibility of the rental company. We also offer options that reduce the excess or allow rentals without a credit card guarantee, but these services involve additional daily costs from the insurance provider.

As for the vehicle itself, if there were concerns about cleanliness, noises, or the media system setup, you could have contacted us immediately or at any point during the rental. We always give customers the possibility for replacement if something is not satisfactory. It is very difficult for us to resolve issues after the rental has ended when no report was made during the rental period.

The info language can also be changed by our staff, it is a few minutes of time for us. Fuel policy is same to same and we clarify it for every rental.

👎💥 Über Discover Cars gebucht, Abholen In Heraklion am Flughafen.
Wow, was fÃŒr eine Erfahrung, das Auto ist soweit ganz ok. Beim 1. Stop bemerkt, es steckt eine Schraube im Reifen. Am nÀchsten Tag angerufen, was ist zu tun ? Am Telefon wurde gesagt gehe zum nÀchsten ReifenhÀndler lass es reparieren, wird erstattet beim abgeben. Soweit so gut, außerdem hatte ich etwas seltsames bemerkt, Auto nimmt im RÃŒckwÀrtsgang kein Gas an. Sehr schlecht wenn man rÃŒckwÀrts einen Berg hoch muss beim ausparken usw. Von dem Fehler dem Herrn am Telefon berichtet, Antwort, das ist normal, solle 4-5 sec warten dann geht’s. Ähm nein, die Karre ist irgendwie in einem Notlauf Modus im RÃŒckwÀrtsgang, keine Möglichkeit Gas zu geben. Ok ich möchte das Fahrzeug tauschen, bei einem Ausflug in Heraklion vorbei gefahren, vor Ort erklÀrt was Sache ist und demonstriert, wieder wurde gesagt das ist normal. Ich antworte er soll mir nicht so einen MÃŒll erzÀhlen. Ups die Stimmung kippt, er wird aggressiv stellt sich demonstrativ direkt vor mich und wird laut, ich solle nicht so mit ihm reden das könnte ich zuhause machen hier ich bin nur “Tourist”. (Aber auch dein Kunde) ein paar Schimpfwörter in griechisch noch hinterher.
NÀchste dumme ErklÀrung das Auto hat wenig PS, dafÌr reicht die Leistung nicht ich solle halt vorwÀrts den Berg hochfahren. Bei allen Autos ist das so. Ich will ein anderes Auto. Zuerst noch andere Kunden bedient, ich kann ja warten habe ja hier nichts zu melden, bin ja nur ein Tourist. Ein 9 Jahre altes, kleineres als gebucht bekommen, sehr alt, das nötigste im und am Fahrzeug, der fÀhrt aber wenigstens normal. Auch im RÌckwÀrtsgang ! Danke fÌr die Erfahrung, hier werde ich nie mehr buchen und rate jeden hier ab ein Auto zu mieten.

Ich fahre seit 50 Jahren Auto, vom PKW Ìber LKW bis 7,5 Tonnen, habe selber ein 7m Wohnmobil mit 3,5 Tonnen und bestimmt schon einige hunderttausende Km zurÌckgelegt. Ebenso MotorrÀder usw.
Es ist eine absolute Frechheit ein fahrerisches können in Frage zu stellen. Ich hatte aber auch geschrieben das es mit dem getauschten Fahrzeug keine Probleme gab, also fahren kann ich. Und warum wird das 1 jÀhrige Fahrzeug das angeblich keine Fehler hat in die Werkstatt gegeben.
Danke fÃŒr eure Antwort, das zeigt mir wie wenig Wert auf zufriedene Kunden bei euch gelegt wird.

The vehicle originally provided to you was exactly in the category you booked, a Peugeot 208 that was less than one year old. Regarding your comment about reverse driving, modern vehicles such as the Peugeot 208 are designed with updated and safety-oriented transmission gearbox, that reduce or limit speed during reverse driving for safety reasons.
Our staff explained this to you clearly and kindly over the phone. Nevertheless, in order to meet your request, the vehicle was replaced with a Toyota Yaris diesel.
Regarding the tire issue, a screw or nail in a tire can unfortunately occur during normal driving conditions and is outside of our control. The tire issue was resolved accordingly and we appreciate your positive comment about it.
Concerning the interaction with our staff, we have reviewed the situation internally based on feedback from our team. Our staff member claims that the communication at the station became tense from the first moment you came, with repeated interruptions and raised voices after anything he was trying to explain, using an inappropriate and very common word in German by your side, that he understood very well. We always aim to remain fully professional and supportive, but we also expect mutual respect in all interactions. We do not support inappropriate service by our staff to the customers, but at the same time we also do not accept disrespectful or aggressive behavior towards our team members, particularly when they are trying to assist.
Finally, everyone may express dissatisfaction, including publicly through reviews, and we respect everyone’s right to share their experience. At the same time, we also believe that constructive communication is essential for resolving any issue respectfully and effectively for both sides.

Was nicht so gut war ist der Tankinhalt ,wir hatten Voll getankt gebucht und sollten Voll wieder abgeben ! Es war ein Strich ÃŒber Reserve gefÃŒllt ,was es immer schwerer macht ihn mit selber TankfÃŒllung wieder abzugeben und der Bulli war dermaßen schmutzig , es lagen ÃŒberall Essensreste auf den Sitzen wie auf dem Boden !GetrÀnke die ÃŒbergeschwappt und runtergelaufen sind ! Insgesamt ein sehr unappetitlicher Anblick .Da könnte man definitiv besser werden .

Regarding the fuel policy, we would like to explain that our fuel policy is clearly stated both on the broker’s page and on our own website. The agreement is “same to same,” meaning the vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as received. We cannot control how a broker promotes their rental offers, however our contracts with them clearly state our fuel policy and that different conditions should not be presented to customers.
Concerning the cleanliness of the vehicle, we honestly understand your disappointment and we apologize for the condition in which the van was delivered. We always try to clean our vehicles thoroughly before every rental. Unfortunately, there are cases where one customer returns the vehicle late and the next customer is already waiting for delivery after a long flight with family or company. In such situations, when the time frame becomes extremely short, we sometimes do not have enough time to fully prepare and deep clean the vehicle before handover.
In your case, if you had visited our station the following day, we would gladly have cleaned the vehicle properly for you within no more than 40 minutes so you could continue your holidays with a clean car.
We appreciate your feedback because it helps us improve our service. If you visit Crete again in the future, we would be happy to offer you a very good deal and provide you with a new and perfectly clean vehicle.

At first I was very hesitant with this company since I was reading a lot of bad reviews. However it is very unfair for me to keep quiet when I had the opposite experience. I have rented from Royal in Crete, at first I notice that the staff was very professional, straightforward and uptight. I was thinking maybe all people in Greece are usually like that. As he went on explaining he never smiled or made a relaxing expression but remained very professional. I understood very well since this is the way it is supposed to be. But then when we responded to him respectfully and cheerfully he started to loosen up. I received a hybrid car, he explained to me most of it and he advised us to take all the time we want to inspect and video the car then we went on. By then I forgot to ask about the insurance. So I contacted with their customer support and have called them and they explained to me very well about the insurance with discover cars. I was really enlightened as they have responded to me very well. I never had issues with the car as it was working in a very good condition. By the end of the rent period, I dropped off the car in Heraklion (I picked it up at Chania) and I needed to be in the airport early as I was having issues with checking in. I have emailed them unfortunately it was out of office hours. Luckily, Parnos was on the site was very willing to help us out. He inspected the car, the gas and everything went on very smoothly. I asked about the deposit and he said the maximum days it would be returned would be 10days. Then I went on my way. My deposit came back after 1 day. I was very happy with their service and I hope they would continue giving such service to us tourist. Thank you very much.

Schnelle Übernahme&Abgabe ohne Diskussionen

Wir hatten einen Kleinstwagen fÃŒr 1 Woche gemietet und am Flughafen Heraklion ÃŒbernommen.
Übergabe funktionierte problemlos in wenigen Minuten. Bei der Abgabe war es recht voll, trotzdem war auch die RÃŒckgabe eine Frage von Minuten.
Die Mitarbeiter waren freundlich.
Wir hatten den Premium-Schutz ohne Selbstbeteiligung gebucht und es wurde nicht versucht noch irgendwas on top zu verkaufen. Wer den Aufschlag hierfÌr sparen will, setzt sich m.E. unnötig Diskussionen und hohen Kautionen aus, fÌr eine Differenz von etwa Euro 50-60 pro Woche.
Der Aygo war nicht taufrisch, aber das erwarte ich auch nicht. Die Klimaanlage hat gut funktioniert, was im Juli auf Kreta fast wichtiger als funktionierende Bremsen ist.
Wir wÃŒrden jederzeit wieder einen Wagen dort mieten.

Wir haben jetzt das 3 mal einen Mittelklasse Wagen bei Royal Rent a Car Crete gebucht. Die Mitarbeiterin im Arina Beach Resort ist mehr als nur zu empfehlen. Sie ist fÃŒr uns schon fast wie eine Freundin geworden. Anastasija ist mehr als nur eine Angestellte.Sie gibt einem gute Tip`s was man besuchen sollte. Die Autos sind in einem Top Zustand. Und das mit einem leeren Tank glaube ich niemals.

At least twice the price compared to other companies. The service is below any description. I received a car with empty fuel and was told that this is a fair procedure (return it at it was given to you). When I tried to cancel the contract I was told in a very rude manner: We are very clear on our conditions. The third day the car didn’t start. Again no refund. Again the same attitude towards service versus payment, i.e. no refund at all. My personal lesson: I will keep fingers off this company.

We have already seen your review posted on several other websites, but we would like to clarify that the situation did not happen exactly as described. You are always welcome to contact our customer service directly so we can give you a proper explanation and help resolve any issue.
Regarding the fuel policy, it is clearly stated in the rental contract, on our website, and on all the broker platforms we have been successfully working with for many years. The “same-to-same” fuel policy (returning the car with the same amount of fuel as at pickup) is a standard procedure used by many rental companies worldwide.
As for the car issue, our team responded immediately to assist you. Writing about refunds in this case is not relevant, as we already handled the matter according to the terms of the rental agreement.
Such reviews with the same claims about refunds do not present the correct way to resolve a situation. Any real issue can be properly addressed through direct communication with our office, but not by posting offending information across multiple platforms.
However, we are sorry we could not meet your expectations and requirements.

If you don't want to pay, you have to give them a creditcard for 5000 euro. If you dont want that either, they won't give your money back.
The owner pushed my husband to the ground. He now has a twisted ankle on holiday.
This business is dishonest, stay away! A lot of people have bad experiences.

When you made the reservation for the vehicle, it was clearly explained to you that the rental included basic normal insurance that involves liability and excess. As with any car rental company, if you wished to upgrade to premium insurance, there would be an additional charge. This is a standard practice worldwide.
However, you declined to pay for the premium insurance and also refused to provide a credit card to cover the deposit, which is necessary in case of a vehicle damage or loss. It’s important to note that this requirement is legal and ensures protection for both parties. Without insurance or a security deposit, we cannot provide vehicles, as we must protect our property. What exactly is wrong and strange about it?
During your return to our office, your wife became extremely aggressive, shouting and recording on her phone our staff without consent, which is not allowed. This escalated the situation unnecessarily. While we always try to resolve matters calmly, such behavior makes it difficult to reach a solution.
Moreover, we have noticed that since this incident, multiple negative reviews have appeared from individuals with whom we have had no transactions. We take customer feedback seriously and always work to improve our service, but we must also protect our employees from unfair treatment and bad accusations.
We strive to serve our customers professionally but we also have to stand by our staff in this case and ensure their integrity.
We also want to mention that we have responded to your Google review and advised you to contact our customer service team to discuss and resolve this issue. Do not buy!!!! The service is terrible. The car ture Got flag and then they would not help us. We had to repair the car by our self and change the tire by our self. The car also has bumps and scratches when you get it

Regarding the flat tire, while we try to assist our customers whenever possible, there are instances when our technicians may not be immediately available due to distance or high demand. In such cases, the responsibility falls to the driver to change the tire, which is a standard expectation in car rentals.
As for the condition of the vehicle, minor scratches and wear are to be expected, especially in a busy touristic area where vehicles are used frequently. This does not affect the functionality or safety of the car, as our vehicles are thoroughly checked and maintained before each rental.
Our reputation is important to us and we will take any attempt to undermine it very seriously. Providing false or misleading information is not acceptable, and we will not hesitate to take appropriate action to protect our business.

Good service, good family car

Good service overall from the company.
We initially booked a Land Rover with 9 seats but it was not available. The company contacted us prior to us arriving in Crete and we had a very nice and professional exchange with them which convinced us that it was the right thing to do to go for a VW Caddy.

And it was. The car was in excellent condition and it served our party of 6 really well.

Pickup and delivery were smooth and hassle free.

I can tell the company is trying hard to keep its customers happy. It certainly kept us happy and we will come back to them in the future, as Crete is a destination that we often choose for our vacations.

Matig

Matige prijs-kwaliteitverhouding. Wij kregen een verouderde Opel Corsa (>4j) met een kapotte ruitewisser (dit hebben we pas gemerkt toen we hem wilden gebruiken) en een achteruitrijlicht dat af en toe niet werkte. Verder heeft de auto wel gedaan wat hij moest doen. De pre-autorisatie van de waarborg van 900 Euro heeft een maand op mijn creditkaart gestaan terwijl ter plaatse werd gezegd dat dit maximum 10 dagen zou duren. Volgens Royal ligt dit aan de bank maar daar geloof ik niets van, de pre-autorisatie stond ingesteld voor 1 maand en die hebben ze gemakkelijkheidshalve gewoon laten doorlopen ipv te stoppen. Personeel was neutraal vriendelijk. Afhalen en terugbrengen van de auto is vlot verlopen.

To date, we have received no significant complaints about this vehicle. However, it is important to mention that during the entire season, some wear and tear on the vehicles can naturally occur. In that order, we are always available for immediate assistance. Our road assistance number is at our customers service, and our team is always ready to promptly address any issues, either by fixing the problem or replacing the car. You could just call to us and we would react immediately. We are sorry in any case that the car you received from us did not meet your expectations.
Regarding the preauthorization of funds, we would like to clarify that this is an international banking procedure that is not under our control or the customer's. The duration of a preauthorization hold on a credit card varies from one bank to another and depends on their specific policies. We initiate and send by email the release request through our bank to your bank, and it is entirely in their hands to release the funds. We do not have the capability to hold or use preauthorized funds beyond your consent. We understand the frustration this can cause but this is not in our custody to decide about the banks policies and efficiency.
Additionally, we appreciate your understanding of the pressure our staff at the airport face during the peak season. The high volume of customers and rentals can be physically demanding, but they make every effort to provide the best service possible. We value your patience and tolerance in these situations.

We arrived into Heraklion Crete a little after 10pm, so we was quite eager to get on our way, everything was there ready and waiting a quick walk around the vehicle and we was off, same on return, easy no fuss, definitely be coming back!

Top service!

Toen wij onze auto kwamen ophalen op HeraÄ·lion airport, heeft Maria ons snel, vriendelijk en zonder problemen geholpen. Geen gezeur over extra verzekeringen en we kregen precies de auto die we hadden gehuurd.
Toen we tijdens onze huurperiode een probleem met de verlichting van de auto hadden, werd dit snel en goed opgelost.
Bij het terug brengen van de auto geen onnodig oponthoud.
Ik beveel Royal aan, wij zullen zeker weer een auto bij Royal huren!

The cars are scratched totally and if you do not make photos about every of them they hold your deposit. Last year they tried also but luckily I made good photos, this year they got me, which cost EUR 100 for a bumper scratch. So unless you are not a Photomaster, you should avoid this company.

Therefore, we thoroughly inspect before and after each car rental and in cases where damages occur during the rental period, we rely on the photos provided by our customers to assess the responsibility and charge accordingly. The requirement for photographs is a standard practice in the car rental industry, aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness.
We understand that accidents can happen, and damages may occur unintentionally. It is our responsibility to maintain the vehicles and ensure they are in good condition for the next customer. By following the regular rental procedure and charging for damages, we aim to maintain the quality of our fleet and minimize any disruptions to future rentals.

Excellent service

I have just come back from Crete where l rented a car from Royalrentals at Chania airport. The service was excellent, fast, friendly and easy, we were in and out of the office within minutes and on our way. Same on the return of the car. Would always use this company in future. The gentleman who dealt with us was friendly, polite and thorough.

The probability of having two impacts within 24 hours can not be claimed, and as for a quieter areas of Crete it is essential to consider various factors, including road conditions and other external factors that could contribute to such incidents. We cannot determine the exact circumstances causing the damages without knowing the location where you stayed.
In the event of damage, we follow a standard procedure that involves charging for the repairs and providing the necessary documentation for our customers to claim reimbursement from their insurance company. This is a responsible and common practice within the car rental industry.
We regret that you feel our response is not fair or true. Our goal is to provide a professional and reliable service to all our customers, and we have many satisfied clients who appreciate our responsible handling of such situations.

Good service but scrapyard quality cars

Firstly I would like to state that this company has excellent staff that are friendly.

However the main issue is, the company has stated in previous reviews that I would receive a car 99% of times that's within 2 years old and if I do get one that's within 5 years old it would be well maintained.

Unfortunately I received a piece of junk of a nissa micra, this model was manufactured in 2010-2016 so at a minimum this car is 7 years old and i have been lied to.

My first car I received was an early model close to 2010, engine was loud and weak plus the aircon was not working.

Thanks fully the helpful staff arranged a replacement vehicle for me after having to drive 30km to pick it up. The new vehicle was the same exact series of Nissan micra maybe 3 years newer. But still the vehicle was clearly 10 years old around.

I would give this company a 1 star review after being lied to, received a faulty dirty car. What saves it from being 1 star is the friendliness of the staff. Please scrap the 2 micra's, they arnt roadworthy.
