Michelle was excellent and helped us the whole way through the conveyancing process quickly, and professionally. My fiancé and I were recommended GBLF by Millers when we were buying our first home.

We have just today got our keys, and we could not be happier with the assistance GBLF gave us. They helped us through the process from start to finish, constantly keeping us informed and assisting us in the legal understanding of our contracts.

Our solicitor informed us to close our ISA’s down early in case of any issues with the bank. We closed down our ISA a month and a half before completion. What we didn’t know was the bank had not shut down the ISA correctly (administrative error on the banks part).

When the error was revealed to us two weeks prior to completion, we contacted our solicitor and explained the situation. Throughout our entire dealing with the bank to get it sorted, she was helpful, understanding, and helped us get the ISA bonus completed on time once the bank rectified their error. It was a bit touch and go whether we would get the bonus, but in the end, GBLF helped us get it.

Even though we did not meet our solicitor in person (phone calls and emails), there was a constant stream of communication to keep us up to date with everything going on, and we never at any point felt we were chasing them up.

This is the first house we have bought, and the service we received from GBLF was beyond our expectations. We highly recommend their services to anyone buying there house, for the first time, or any other time.

As a first time buyer with limited knowledge i could not recommend Gordon Brown enough. Joanne has been amazing! No question was too stupid and she helped me through every stage of the process. Really took the stress out of a stressful time.

Gordon Brown LLP was recommended via Millers as an excellent firm to support new build customers/first time buyers.

My honest experience was more hassle than anything else. The appeared to be breakdowns in communication between Millers and GBL on a number of occasions.

One example was following payment of the search fees I was chased to say this had not been done (although the payment had been made at least 4 days before hand) by Millers following advice from GBL.

During the process I sent a number of emails to ask questions, in particular around payment which were not answered.

One thing which would be helpful for first time buyers with help to buy ISA's is the instructions to get the closing statement early. We ended up in a mad rush to close ours as we weren't aware of the closing statement requirement. Some-kind of quick reference list of have you done XYZ.

Finally on the day of completion I was told that I had underpaid. After reviewing the invoice I had pay exactly the right amount but a further invoice was produce due to an error on GBL side (which was not sent). Appreciating you pay what due it did cause a lot of stress on the completion day.

When speaking with the conveyer Joanne she was always really helpful and did apologies multiple times around the invoicing mistake.

I worked with GBLF to sell my house and they were excellent. Louise was my solicitor and acted professionally and prompt with any questions etc. She was a delight to work with and everything progressed well with GBLF.
