Disappointed in the work carried out.

On the 11th August 2026 I took my VW T4 to this garage, as they claim to be a VW specialist.

The reason for my visit was I had an oil leak and asked for an estimate and a diagnostic, the van was checked by a mechanic who stated that the Rocker cover gasket was the problem, I challenged this at the time as I felt the leak was from the crankshaft seal but I felt they were the mechanics and they knew what they were talking about. I agreed that they repair the van after being quoted £215.00, Labour £135 and the part a rocker cover casket £44.61 . This gasket can be purchased for less than £10 by most suppliers as it is unavailable from VW.

I paid for the job and noticed on the receipt that they stated that there had been previous silicone repairs on the vehicle and there may be future leaks, I then drove the vehicle home where it remained on my driveway for over two weeks, I noticed oil on my drive so called the garage and informed them of this, they invited me back in to allow them to look at the van, they then called and informed me that there was now 4 leaks that the mechanic had found including what I originally said was the problem, I asked how they could now say that there was 4 leaks only to be told that the mechanic had cleaned away the area and saw the new leaks, something that was not true as I had pressure washed the engine prior to my first visit.

I was then told to fix one of the leaks it would be £117.

On my first visit after the vehicle was dropped off and I was leaving I spoke with another VW van owner who was there for his third time since the garage had fixed his oil leak had I known that I would have avoided this garage.

I asked for an oil leak to be repaired which has not been completed, they maybe ok at repairing modern vehicles but I would avoid for older models.

I will not be returning to the garage and not make any recommendations to family or friends to use them.

I have since had the vehicle to a non specialist garage who found no oil leaks ? but a diesel leak from the diesel pump this has now been rectified and i have no leaks.

The usual excellent service, a very pleasant and professional team.

Vasstech Northallerton - staff are excellent. I dealt with Scott and had a fair amount of work done. Basically they diagnosed quickly, tell you what needs doing and do it well. Absolutely impressed with the level of service across the board.

On two occasions I have made enquiries, on two occasions I have received the stock response but to date still had no contact. My Golf R Mk8’s fault codes have been rectified elsewhere and Vasstech has missed out on over a £1k repair. They obviously don’t even know what a TV Diff is.

I visited Vasstech in Knaresborough in August to have a new SOS module fitted to my Skoda Kodiaq, which I was getting ready to sell. The SOS module was fitted as arranged & worked correctly and all seemed to be fine for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, the Skoda then had a software issue, which I discussed with Nick, Branch Manager who asked me to drop the car back in for further analysis. The software issue was quickly identified at no extra cost to myself but it was unfortunately a main dealer update only. The buyer who by then was at this point interested in my Skoda, was anxious about this remaining issue but they discussed the issue with Nick, who reassured them about the ease with which the issue could be remedied by their local Skoda main dealer and my sale went through as hoped. The service provided by Vasstech was excellent and Nick went above and beyond to reassure my prospective buyer, which ultimately allowed my sale to go through. I would not hesitate to use Vasstech in the future and Nick as Branch Manager warrants an extra thanks from me for his assistance.

Vasstech are excellent people to deal with and look after both of our cars.
The main dealer is just around the corner but Vasstech I feel offer better value and you are not just another number.
The staff are good communicators and you can trust they will deliver what they say

I've been using Vasstech for years with several cars, and at this point I'm convinced they know my vehicles better than I do.

Most recently, they've been looking after my 2021 Audi SQ7, affectionately known on social media as "Karen" (@Blackout_SQ7_V8).😉

Now, Karen is a wonderful vehicle... when she's in the mood (typical). One day she's a luxury SUV capable of devouring motorways in complete comfort. The next day she's throwing warning lights around like confetti and demanding attention with all the subtlety of a toddler in a supermarket aisle.

Thankfully, whenever Karen decides to have one of her mood swings, the Vasstech team are there to sort it with a cheeky Snickers and technical know how.

The team consistently delivers quick turnaround times, outstanding workmanship, honest advice, and customer service that's second to none.

No matter what I've thrown at them over the years, they've always been friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to help.

Unlike Karen, who recently decided that brake warnings (break servo restricted) and general panic by slamming on the ABS everytime I pressed the break pedal was an appropriate ways to start my day and ruining my weekend plans, Vasstech remained calm, professional, and got things diagnosed and sorted without any drama.

If you're looking for a garage that genuinely cares about its customers and takes pride in its work, look no further.

Vasstech are the automotive equivalent of a trusted family doctor.

Karen may be high maintenance, demanding, occasionally dramatic, and prone to attention-seeking behaviour...
But thanks to Vasstech, she's still on the road and still terrorising fuel stations across the North East, not forgetting my bank balance.

Referred to Vasstech by my usual garage as they were unable to carry out the necesary repair (VW Golf 1.4 TSi, Charge Air Pressure Actuator, Mechanical Fault) revealed by diagnostic scan following intermittent EPC warnings. Car booked in within less than 48 hours of my phone call to Vasstech. Further testing confirmed fault with actuator and wastegate and advised replacement turbo needed. This was on Thursday afternoon, was offered a loan car and told my car would be ready possibly on Friday, more likely Monday. As it happened, they completed the repair on Friday morning after having stripped out old unit on Thursday, and the technician collecting a replacement on his way home! Received a phone call mid Friday morning to confirm it was ready.
