Paid, not delivered, refund withheld for yearsI paid Afternic/GoDaddy $1,500 for a domain transaction.
The domain was never delivered.

After that, my money was withheld for years despite repeated written follow-ups and repeated assurances that the refund was being processed. I provided all requested documentation, including tax documentation, and still did not receive verifiable payment execution proof (no initiation confirmation, no reference/trace number) even after a final deadline.

This was a non-delivery transaction followed by prolonged refund failure.
I’m sharing this so others understand the risk and keep complete records of every communication.

If Afternic resolves this fully with confirmed payment, I will update this review.

Fantastic and great

WOW! I've been reviewing companies for selling domains and for a company to have 49% BAD reviews with under 400 reviewers sure sent up a red flag. Seeing as GoDaddy owns the company, I don't see how I could trust either at this point.

Scam website and Suspended my account after i sell domain, until now i dont know where is my domain. and they not explain what happen to my account just say suspended. and take my domain. i buy domain from there and i try sell it again,. after someone pay it already, they suspended my account. Be carefull!!

I couldn’t bulk‑upload my 300+ domains, so I reached out to Afternic support.

They got back to me in just a few hours and fixed the issue right away.

Afternic is good enough for basic use. The only reason I use it is because it syndicates domains to GoDaddy, which helps with exposure. Other than that, I wouldn’t rely on it. The user interface is very poor, the system has many glitches, and the overall experience feels outdated. The payout process is also a major downside—it only supports wire transfers with high fees, which is very old-school, especially when most platforms now offer instant payouts to USDT wallets or modern alternatives. I give it 3 stars at most in its current state. They really need to improve the platform before they end up like Nokia compared to Apple 15 years ago.

Horrible payout experience. Extremely high fees. Site is buggy as hell. Buttons in mails land on error pages. Even in 2025, the login flow is completely broken 😂 Never seen such a big company with such bad IT, holy sh*t. You have to really try to make a platform this bad. I wonder how they do it

I sold a domain on December 15, 2025, and completed all the domain transfer procedures. I also ensured that all my financial information was complete. However, as of today, January 3, 2026, I haven't received my payment. Imagine, more than 15 days! Even the current owner of the domain who bought it from me has started using it. Every time I contact the terrible support team, they just tell me to wait because it's a routine procedure, without telling me the reason for the delay. Is it a problem with my bank account or something else?

This was my first experience selling on this platform, and it's the worst selling experience of my life.

My experience was strictly with regard to questions and answers and the staff at Afternic were great. They answered all my questions to the best of their ability - even those they didn't have to. They offered their best advice and I appreciated it.

Beware. If you ever register an interest in one of their parked domains, Drew Zarczynski and Vlastian Slaveykov will forever haunt your inbox. Even when they warn that they'll remove you from their file, and you say "go ahead!", they'll continue to show up every couple months to ask "is it time?". If I had more money than sense then yes I would buy one of your domains, but until then...

The reviews about Afternic is SO mixed, I'm a bit confused.

One of my domain that used to be on Godaddy got a seller through Afternic, but I have to admit that after reading reviews here, I don't know how trustfull the site is regarding the paiement (and custumer service that seems absolutely awfull)

If someone here SOLD a domain recently, I'd love your input.

I am writing to document my continued dissatisfaction with AfterNIC/GoDaddy’s handling of my auction proceeds. While the platform initially notified me on October 29, 2025 that my funds were “on the way” to my designated payout method, GoDaddy has repeatedly delayed disbursement and has not demonstrated a meaningful effort to resolve the matter.
Timeline of Events
Oct 29, 2025 – GoDaddy informed me that my payout of $799.20 had been scheduled to my bank account.
Nov 11, 2025 – I notified GoDaddy of my concern that the company appeared to be holding auction proceeds instead of releasing them promptly. While the amount is modest, these delays—when multiplied across many sellers—inevitably generate meaningful interest income for the company, which I believe is unfair.
Nov 12, 2025 – I received an automated message confirming updates to my contact and payment details, as well as the completion of my 1099. I expressed concern that no substantial effort had been made to assist with the 1099 process and requested confirmation that the matter was being advanced properly.
Nov 17, 2025 – GoDaddy stated that my tax information would be cross-checked with IRS records and that funds would be resubmitted within “up to 48 business hours” once validated.
Nov 26, 2025 – I received another generic request to submit a new W-9. I complied. I then received follow-up messages stating that updates to my contact details had “invalidated” the previously submitted form. I complied again.
Despite providing every requested document—multiple times—the payout remains unresolved.
Primary Concerns
Delayed Payouts:
It appears that GoDaddy benefits financially from withholding seller payouts while earning interest on aggregated funds. Their own documentation states funds are released within “1–7 business days,” yet the delays far exceed this timeframe.
Generic and Vague Communications:
Most communications I received were automated, non-specific, and gave no clear sense of progress or accountability.
Poorly Designed Payment Interface:
The payment section of the website is difficult to navigate, with unclear instructions. The “W-9” is not a traditional W-9 form but rather an internal online data entry and e-signature process. Clear directions such as
“Please complete the online W-9 located in the ‘Edit Payment’ section under Payments”
would have prevented unnecessary confusion.
Slow Review Times:
Each form submission triggered further delays with no indication that the matter was being escalated or actively reviewed.
Conclusion
My frustration lies primarily with the repetitive, generic communication, the inadequately designed website navigation, and the significant delays in receiving payment. The buyer pays GoDaddy immediately, yet the seller is left waiting—repeatedly asked to resubmit information while receiving no meaningful support. In my view, this pattern suggests a systemic issue and raises concerns that payout delays may be financially advantageous to the company.
I hope this review encourages improvements in transparency, communication, and payout efficiency for all sellers on the platform.

I was selling a domain for the first time and their customer support rep (Lyubov) was very patient and thorough in walking me through all of the steps. I had a lot of questions and she clear, concise and consultative in walking me through the various options available which I greatly appreciated!
