When I first went to Desmond, I wasn’t even asking for a mortgage. I was just asking whether there was any chance I could get one at all. I genuinely didn’t think I could. I went to him and said, “Do you think there’s a possibility?” I’m now sitting in our forever home. That’s how much of a difference Desmond made.

I’d more or less convinced myself that a high street bank was out of reach. I was ready to be told no, or to settle for whatever I could get. Desmond never once treated my situation as a lost cause. He listened properly, took the time to understand my circumstances, and gave me an honest, encouraging answer. Then he got to work in a way that made me feel like my application mattered to him as much as it did to me.

On top of everything, we were working to really tight deadlines. I was moving out of my current home and had to complete by a set date, so there was no room for delays. That pressure was a lot to carry, but Desmond took it seriously from day one. He kept things moving, stayed on top of every step, and made sure nothing was left to chance. We completed on time, which honestly felt like a miracle given how tight it was.

What stood out most was how he kept me in the loop at every single stage. I never had to chase him or wonder what was happening. Whether it was good news, a small hold-up, or something he needed from me, he let me know straight away and explained it in plain English. When you’re going through something this big, and against the clock, that kind of communication makes a huge difference.

There were moments when I felt really deflated and was close to giving up. Desmond was the one who kept me going. He stayed positive and reassuring the whole way through, and he never made me feel silly for worrying. He’d remind me where we were, what the next step was, and that we’d get there. And we did.

When he told me the high street bank had approved my mortgage, I couldn’t believe it. Something I’d only dared to ask about as a “maybe” had actually happened. I owe so much of that to his hard work, his knowledge, and his determination to find the right option for me.

Every time I walk through the door of our forever home, I’ll be thinking of the part Desmond played in getting us here. He’s professional, patient, kind, and clearly very good at what he does. If you’re not even sure whether a mortgage is possible for you, please just ask Desmond the question. That’s all I did, and look where it got me.
