I am writing this review to warn other retail traders about my experience with Athens Markets (AMLTD).

My trading account (No. 5092**) was permanently terminated, and all profits were confiscated, based on allegations of “arbitrage,” “price manipulation,” and “abusive trading practices.” These accusations were made without providing any concrete evidence.

Athens Markets claims that my trading exploited “market inefficiencies” and generated “risk-free profits.” However:

I am a retail trader, not an institutional participant.

I have no knowledge or capability to perform arbitrage strategies.

I did not use bots, latency arbitrage, price feeds, or coordinated trading.

I have no ability whatsoever to manipulate prices in CFD markets.

Despite this, Athens Markets refused to provide:

Trade-by-trade logs,

Exact dates and timestamps,

Platform execution records,

Price feed comparisons,

Any technical proof supporting their accusations.

Instead, they relied solely on broad and discretionary clauses in their Terms & Conditions to:

Nullify all profits,

Close the account permanently,

Retain full control over the outcome with no independent review.

The only funds they agreed to release were my net deposits, while 100% of profits were confiscated, regardless of whether those profits were legitimately earned.

Another major concern is that Athens Markets does not appear to be regulated by any major financial authority (such as FCA, CySEC, ASIC, etc.), operating instead through offshore jurisdictions. This leaves clients with no effective dispute resolution mechanism and no external oversight.

Key concerns:

No transparency

No evidence provided

One-sided enforcement of vague clauses

Profits confiscated at broker’s discretion

No independent regulator protection

Final thoughts:

This experience shows a serious imbalance of power between the broker and the client. Any trader considering Athens Markets should be aware that profits can be revoked at any time, based solely on internal interpretation, without proof or appeal.

I strongly recommend that traders exercise extreme caution and carefully consider using a properly regulated broker instead.

I strongly advise caution when using this platform.

I made a small test deposit of $400, which went missing despite being fully traceable. Instead of addressing the missing deposit, support repeatedly referenced a withdrawal request that I never made, showing a lack of attention and understanding of the issue.

I was then asked to complete additional verification steps that were irrelevant to the actual problem, and the situation went unresolved. Communication felt circular and dismissive rather than solution-focused.

I’m honestly relieved this was only a test deposit. Had I deposited a larger amount, I could have potentially lost $25,000 or more. Based on my experience, I do not feel confident trusting this platform with significant funds.

Because of how this was handled, I have chosen to close my account and report the matter to the appropriate consumer protection channels.

Use caution and test with extreme care before committing any real money.

The guy assigned to me as my manager did a lot of annoying and stupid shit, even threatened me when i refused to pay. I soon found out they unlisenced too so i cut them off and took the case to Rose Lane GP where it was solved.

I lost my entire $1,800 deposit with them, the story is pretty crazy…

After I deposited and opened a trade, they suddenly canceled the trade and the whole deposit, claiming I needed to pass additional verification due to a "deposit error" on their side. However, the platform (Tradelocked) had automatically added my crypto deposit once it was received, so there was obviously no error.

They asked for a fullscreen screenshot from my crypto exchange showing the payment, which I sent them.

Then they told me that to process my deposit, they needed a selfie of me holding my passport along with a piece of paper displaying the current date.

I was shocked—why would they need such a document just to approve my deposit? Very quickly, I realized that by requesting this, they would not only know my crypto exchange but, with my passport selfie and the date, they could reset the email and password of my account and gain access to my crypto exchange.

There is no other reason they would ask for this. No unregulated broker should require such sensitive documents just to process a deposit.

They told me they could not proceed until they received the photo, so I assume my deposit is lost forever.

Guys, be cautious and never send such sensitive documents to any unregulated broker—they can easily steal access to your other services and make your savings disappear.

Overall, my experience was up & down. I created an account on 1/11/2025 then later deposited a little bit of money to test them out. I like the credit system (where you place your funds in a separate account & they double the deposit). So to say the least, started off good. Then we get to TradeLocker. For some reason, viewing I was only able to see price action on the daily time frames on the forex pairs. Any time frame shorter only showed 1 big candle... I was a bit concerned but since I already deposited my funds I kept going along with it. This issue was there all last week. I entered one position on the account & ended up working in my favor. After that, I decided to request a withdrawal, this is where thing get interesting...

Maybe a day or two later, I wasn't able to log into my account. This was probably due to a server glitch of some sort because my two factor authentication code didn't come through until hours later. So I just waited until the next day to try to log in again. It's only natural to think at this point that my money's gone after reading the reviews from last year however, I wanted to be courteous & give a few days (1/18-1/23). Then I reached out to someone & with extra verification, I was able to receive my funds within 2-4 hours. There were 3 people helping me out. Shane, Crystal & William. Their responses were very quick & I appreciate it.

To be fair as well, I had withdrew $232 USD so idk if I want to keep jumping through hoops to receive my funds but I'll give them another shot & see, due to how quickly they responded & resolved my issue

Summary of my experience:

Pros:
- fast response time from team
- received funds
- their credit system where they match your deposit up to 10k USD so that you can trade with more capital & have more leverage to play with

Cons:
- glitches on TradeLocker my first week
- server crashed & I wasn't able to access my account for a day
- went through a decent amount just for a $200 withdrawal

Once again, this is my experience off of just one week so take this information however you want to,

They switched over the platform and my trades were lost. I have contacted them several times over the last couple months and they said it was gonna be accelerated. But never was taken care of. This is a theft of my money.
Stay clear.

Been talking to them since last month via email, they are giving me same response we are talking to the finance department. My funds are gone. They are scammers.
They team up with big traders and steal newbies money.

I have been a member of Athens for close to 3 years now and never experienced and issue prior to the migration to tradelocker. Ever since the transition they have made it IMPOSSIBLE to execute pending orders with amount of latency on each position (we’re talking about 6-10 pips late on an EU position..) I would utilize pending orders throughout high impact news with enough breathing room that my position wouldn’t get tapped i never once had an issue with them on Mt5 and now the slippage and latency is out of this world..

Next complaint would be i have been an IB affiliate member for some while and what i’ve noticed is they say they’ve had “migrations” to a new platform only to some how “lose” ur entire affiliate tree.. When i reached out they said they wanted me to individually reach out to every single member apart of my tree and have them reach out with my code ..? now that sounds absurd that they would want me to circle through 100’s of people asking them to message support to give me credit for their commissions ESPECIALLY when this is entirely ATHENS fault and out of my control, why should i need to inconvenience myself to do so? So moral of that story they do these migrations to then cut ties with having to pay members their commission fee’s and keep the extra money for themselves 🤣 it’s a joke.

Run while you can there’s a reason why all the big names dropped athens a while back, shame on you guys

The spread and leverage is amazing. The communication is fast. The only thing I did not like was the withdrawal it took almost a week for me to receive my withdrawal, also they always change the way to communicate and do not notify you trough email. I'll still use them because of how well there spreads and leverage is.

Biggest scammers known! Been with Athens for 2 years never really had a big issue until July the 5th 2024 I woke up and had no account and no funds, also to see that the trading platform wasn’t available, I managed to get through via WhatsApp for them to say it’s a psp issue. It’s now Monday 19th august 2024 over a month still can’t get my funds or access my account and all they have to say is “no we don’t have an update”
Everyone stay away from Athens!!

These people are the biggest crooks it has been over a month for them to verify my luck information and only one person is working customer service stay away from these people there a bunch of crooks still haven’t received my money back

Athens forex is scam they steal all my money saying SPS issue ,don’t used this broker they been fixing sps for over one month now I don’t think you all will get your money back

They are very polite and fast to respond.

Communication is great and the follow up is top tier
