This is my first year with Australian Unity after being with another major Health Insurance company for nearly 55 years. The reason for change was that Australian Unity gave me the cover I needed at a very reduced premium which was a great savings for me. Highly recommend for Health cover.

We are very fortunate that Australian unity has kept their service centre within Australia as opposed to what many other organisations have done going offshore. This enables the highest level of communications and getting answers to anything is made simple.

The help and understanding of the customer service staff I spoke to was outstanding. I made several calls about my issue, and both staff I spoke to were equally helpful. Both understood exactly what required and provided the advice and the documentation I urgently needed. I was particularly impressed as I needed the documentation for my new health fund. Without their help I would not get coverage for hospital treatment I’m having literally tomorrow from my new fund. I am very grateful for the help I received from the Australian Unitiy customer support staff today, and happy to give them a glowing review.

Australian Unity is a good health fund for us. The rebates are comparable with where we were before. The staff are prompt, professional, welcoming, well informed, willing to assist, answer questions, and resolve issues where possible.

Membership to AU’s covering & paying
my & my wife & families costs to the various healthcare professionals & agencies .
The systems are quite complicated & to do it alone would be a nightmare .

Following recent surgery, I have received exceptional support from Unity. Their representative managed to humanise the administrative process by perfectly balancing procedural diligence with genuine professional empathy.
Their ability to recall the nuances of our previous interactions—details that likely weren't even on the official record—ensured I felt fully supported during a difficult time. This combination of expertise, reassurance, and clear communication reflects the highest standards of service and is the primary reason I would recommend Unity to others.

I initially submitted my claims in July last year, including invoices with all the correct information -my details, provider details, item numbers, service dates, and proof that I had already paid the full amount upfront. A few weeks later, I received an email asking for details I had already provided. Due to time constraints, I wasn’t able to follow it up immediately.
In February this year, I resubmitted the claims. After a lot of back and forth, the claims were finally approved. However, despite the approval, I never received any benefit payment at all. Only later did I discover that the payment had been made directly to the providers instead of reimbursing me, even though I had already paid the full amount upfront. As a result, I am still out of pocket and have not received a single dollar from my approved claim.
When I asked them to resolve the issue, especially if they wanted to retain me as a customer, there was very little effort to assist. Instead, I was told to contact the providers myself to arrange refunds, leading to even more unnecessary back and forth.
I am extremely disappointed with this experience. My claim was approved, yet I never received the payment I was entitled to, and resolving the issue has been unnecessarily difficult and frustrating.

Australian Unity pricing is competitive for same cover as most health cover providers. It is also relatively easy to contact them and when you do you are connected to someone that is usually very easy to understand and, in my experience, extremely pleasant to deal with.

I have been with Australian Unity for over 10 years & found them to be the best in my concerns in my health cover & they have never let me down on any claims & award me with extras without costing me extra & reward you for your referring new customers in a big way & I was so surprised I thanked them in FB they are Genuine in wanting to help you with your health not like some I’ve been with in my past .i won’t be changing even with the rate rise but I’m sure it’s founded as others will raise higher & without care .Australian Unity cares

Contacted Australian Unity today. Did not have to wait long as Australian Unity offer a convenient call back. Spoke with Duncan, their specialised advice officer. He was personable, informative with concise information and invited me to call back once I have all the information required for my medical condition. This is so I could be given further accurate information on my health cover. Also surprised pleasantly that Australian Unity invites members to pay in advance to avoid the upcoming fee increase. My wife and I are happy with the Australian Unity Hospital cover.

I had a misunderstanding of the new premium offerings how it would affect my accumulated free weeks, and talked to a very patient and kind gentleman who patiently explained for a hour to convince me (due to my stupidity) how I could benefit from this year’s premium. This is how Australian Unity is trying to serve the members to make sure that we are happy dealing with them. I am very satisfied with the outcome!
