AVSED is a local charity based in Rawdon (LS19), serving the communities of Rawdon, Yeadon, Guiseley, and surrounding areas on the outskirts of Leeds. Our mission is to reduce loneliness, improve wellbeing, and help older and vulnerable people remain active, independent, and connected within their communities. Since 1992, we have provided a wide range of services and activities designed to support physical, mental, and social wellbeing. These include community transport, social groups, wellbeing programmes, dementia support services such as AVSEDplus, befriending opportunities, volunteer support, information and advice, and a variety of community activities that bring people together. AVSEDplus offers specialist support for people living with dementia and memory-related conditions, providing stimulating activities, social interaction, and meaningful opportunities to remain engaged, while also offering reassurance and support to family members and carers. Our dedicated staff and volunteers create welcoming, inclusive spaces where people can build friendships, gain confidence, access support, and enjoy meaningful experiences. Whether attending a lunch club, joining a wellbeing group, taking part in an AVSEDplus session, travelling to an appointment, or participating in one of our community events, people can expect a warm welcome and a supportive environment.
