The issue you encountered is related specifically to Amazon Brand Registry requirements. Sellers enrolled in Brand Registry agree to Amazon’s policy requiring barcode numbers obtained directly from GS1, including the ability to provide GS1 ownership documentation. Because of this policy, third-party barcode sellers cannot provide GS1 ownership certificates.

We do make this information available in our “Works for Amazon” Guarantee, our Terms of Service, and our FAQ section so customers understand the limitations associated with Brand Registry accounts before purchasing.

Our barcode numbers are valid and work properly when used in accordance with Amazon’s policies. However, using them in situations where Amazon specifically requires GS1-issued ownership documentation will unfortunately create issues, and there is no workaround for that requirement.

That said, you are still fully covered under our “Works for Amazon” Guarantee and remain eligible for a refund. Our support team is happy to continue assisting you to ensure this is resolved appropriately.

The issue you described is actually a very common and easily resolved Amazon branding issue, not an indication that the barcode numbers were previously used. All of our barcode numbers are backed by our “Works for Amazon” guarantee, so you are completely covered.

We’re sorry for the confusion and would like to clarify this matter.

It would be impossible for you to receive barcode numbers that were already assigned to another company. We maintain full ownership rights to the entire barcode prefix we supply, and once a barcode number is sold, it is permanently removed from our system and can never be reassigned.

After reviewing our records, we also have not received any inquiries from you regarding this issue, so we were not previously aware of the concern. In many cases, situations like this are related to GS1’s outdated GEPIR database, which does not accurately reflect legitimate third-party barcode ownership.
