A really bad streaming service

A really bad streaming service. It should get zero stars. Initially bought a one year contract and it worked well 90% of the time until the end of 2025. Thereafter at least one week out of every month it was completely unworkable. You are told to clear your cache, then do speed tests from South Africa to Dallas servers, then told to contact your ISP to correct the buffering when in South Africa there is zero buffering. After the year was up in February i decided to not tie myself into a one year contract and went month to month. At least 40 to 50% of the time it buffers so badly that it is unwatchable. i use other international streaming services and of course local streaming services and they all work perfectly so the problem is not with my ISP locally but with britishtv.org. Avoid at all costs, a complete waste of time and money. It was once a good service but the last six months have been horrendous. I am no longer renewing and will look elsewhere

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs. Initially was ok. Buffering wasn't too bad. Now the server has died. Been off for a week. Zero response from the WhatsApp contact. No support at all. Website is still live so keep away. Might as well get a sub from Alibaba.

Don't waste your money

Don't waste your money!
Buffers constantly. Support is no help. They take ages to respond and when they do it's generally around midnight and they always to tell you to reload. Only for it to not work.

Great Value and so much choice

I recently upgraded to a new BritishTV.org subscription for a year.

I had a few technical difficulties initially getting the apps on my TV and smartphone to work, however, I created a ticket with their support team and within a few hours Peter was there to offer his help.

After a few messages backwards and forwards I got all the content for Live TV / Movies and Series working on my 2 main devices. I am currently trying to get the app working on my Apple TV box but I am confident this will be sorted out shortly after posting this review.

I gave my 5 star review mainly because I really appreciated Peter's help and swift support. I can only imagine receiving tickets from lots of people who have different devices, operating systems and internet speeds can take a lot of time to try to find the right solution: great job Peter.

Value for money was another reason I rate BritishTV.org so highly: pretty much all the channels you can think of - I haven't experienced a lot of buffering (mainly on some live events but it is hardly noticeable and usually sorts itself out).

As with all online platforms, a few outages here and there are to be expected but I never found myself going days without having access to content (I am basing this on a previous BritishTV.org subscription I had in the past).

I am sorry to hear some people haven't had the same experience as me but from my side BritishTV.org is a big thumbs up

Avoid avoid avoid deserves no stars

Avoid avoid avoid deserves no stars. I have been using for a couple of years and they have got steadily worse. Customer service is non existent if you log a problem they never come back to you until the middle of the night if at all and their tech support 🤣 just completely ignore your problem and just roll out the same unhelpful answer to every problem which obviously doesn’t work, they then ghost you. It becomes unwatchable in the evening due to constant buffeting

Unfortunately there is no minus stars

Unfortunately there is no minus stars , since the "upgrade" everything buffers,some movies and series just dont play , some channels are on a 30s loop or its some french channel , heaven forbid you open a ticket , they'll just mark you as junk mail and the replies just bounce back to your email box , servers seem congested but they will tell you its your ISP or the server in Dallas

Frustration station

Unless you want to up your frustration levels, rather go with another service provider. BritishTV may be providing something, but service is most certainly NOT it. After enquiring about their coverage in South Africa, I was told by their technical team that the recent update will deliver. It did not. I've had this package for 2 months and apart from a whole lot of buffering, I can't really watch a thing. They also managed to screw up my subscription - instead of a year, it basically switched off after 2 months. Lastly, their technical team's blame-shifting is just disgusting!

Britishtv.org - since the upgrade it has become a nightmare! It's such an unpleasant watching experience because of all the buffering......it doesn't matter which channels....it buffers! Extremely frustrating 😑 😤 trying to get hold of Peter or Sean is Extremely difficult. It could be a great service, has lots of potential...Guys please sort out the technical issues

Frustrating, and unusable after the server 'upgrade'

I’ve been with Britishtv for a few years and was initially very happy with the service – the content was good, and everything worked well. Unfortunately, since being “upgraded” last year, the experience has become almost impossible. The service constantly buffers every few seconds, throws playback errors, or simply fails to load content.

Whenever I log a support ticket, the blame is always placed on my ISP or I’m told to clear the cache, with no acknowledgement that the issue might be on their side. This has been extremely frustrating. I’ve now cancelled my subscription because Britishtv seems to believe it’s acceptable to lock customers into contracts without actually providing a usable service.

While it looks like there’s a wide selection of content, much of it is just duplicated in different languages, and the library itself is poorly maintained. A real pity, as this could have been a great service. For context, I am based in South Africa.

Pathetic service

Neeranjana i have been with them for years but lately it's been bad stupidly I have just signed up for another year and so wish I hadn't. It's absolutely pathetic 90 000 movies all in foreign languages. Series not playing movies buffering constantly no help from Peter or Sean
I have asked them to cancel my subscription and refund my money but not getting anywhere.

Horrific service

Horrific service -

Last email received from Peter (BritishTV technical support) was with this comment after I said that I was going to lodge a complaint because of the buffering issue and bad service.

From Peter - "Cool story, No one will hear your complaint, you can believe me on that. consider your account cancelled then. Thank you and have a nice day.

great when it works, long resolution times

The content is great when it works, since apparent server issues in march, upgrades to be done, its not been at all stable. I’m currently without full service since around 2 weeks…and allegedly they’ve passed my issue to their engineering department..twice..with no response.

Until it works its great, as soon as something aint happening then get ready for time wasting questions..and long resolution times. I’ve two accounts, both will be cancelled.

If I could give a minus 10 I would

If I could give a minus 10 I would, their system is continuously resetting and intermittent stops which I have given up complaining about. I have been without TV for 2 days, but I pay for 365. When I complained I got the same old clear your cache, nonsense. when I pinged the link I am supposed to connect to, I get "Ping request could not find your host" which means there is NO! internet link to the domain that is supposed to provide the service.

Responding to Gail Bazely ..... I am in the same situation. Got my nephew in South Africa to log a call 🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️
I'm not understanding why the Website is accessible in South Africa, but not in the UK or why the apps are working there, but here. Have been given several things to try, but still not resolved. I am still hoping for it to be fixed, or I shall cancel my subscription.
I am not expecting any compensation for the lack of access here.... I just want it fixed!!!

Cannot access the App

Cannot access the App, 2nd time in a few months, nor can i access there webpage, what's frustrating is no way of contacting them, BritishTV.ORG please sort this out and post a reply to whats going on.

BritishTV

I have been subscribing to BritishTV since August 2023 and am very happy with the content. It has movies, series and channels from all over the world that you can watch including SA's DSTV which I rarely watch, as these programmes are repeated too many times. I used to have buffering issues, until they replaced their server which I was linked to, in 2023 and have not had buffering issues since. If I have any issue, I log it with BritishTV and their technical team - Peter & Sean - have always been extremely helpful and respond within a few hours. I usually log issues in the evening and when I wake up the next morning, there will be a response. They often have specials and in October 2024, I paid £75 for an annual subscription for watching simultaneously on 2 devices - it does not have to always be the same 2 devices. You can load the app on as many devices as you wish, but can only watch on the number of devices that you subscribed to, simultaneously. I use the One Cloud app for Android as well as for Windows (via Blue-stacks) - which constantly runs ads in the background. Sometimes the channel that I am watching goes off-line but this is remedied by clicking on another channel and then going back to the channel that went off-line which is mostly fine, then. Sometimes I have to go out of One Cloud app and then back in, before it is resolved. On rare occasions, the channel stays off-line but the variety is so vast, that I quickly find something else to watch. You can add channels to a favourite list, which makes it easy to watch channels that you prefer our of a selection of over 8,000. Every-one in the household can have their own favourite list. They have a 3 day catch-up facility available for a few channels but you cannot add any channel that you want, to their catch-up facility. I also subscribed to Waka TV to compare the 2. Waka TV is more expensive for 1 device than what I paid to watch BritishTV on 2 devices simultaneously. Waka consists mostly of SA DSTV channels with a few British channels added. You cannot watch Waka on any device - only the device that you initially installed it to. Waka does have some Afrikaans movies and series, which you cannot find on BritishTV.

DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!!

DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!!! Awful company and customer service!!!!!!!! Tried to cancel subscription before it was over and said my password was incorrect. Sent change of password. Reset password and followed directions, no option to cancel. Chatted with person said to try again same issue, now the stop chatting and no response. Can’t get into acct, but keeps trying to charge.
