Bank informed me that they were taking £15 a month. Never bought anything from them!!!! Scary.

What a liberty,been taking £15 a month as MEMBERSHIP, Absolute joke, DO NOT USE

Complete scam. Cannot contact them to cancel the devious standing order they have been taking from my elderly Mum for 4 years.
DO NOT USE THEM.

I ordered a book and paid £23.18 on the 30th May 2025.
I get a confirmation email [order no 1438467] indicating shipping within 1-3 days with Royal Mail tracking.
Sounds good so far eh?
After 10 days I decided to make contact and see where my book is.
Send an email and you get an automated message with the usual "we will respond asap [up to 5 days] or visit our FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS section".
They have a UK phone number to make contact which can be found buried on their website but with limited times. The automated message says they are "finding an available representative who will assist you" - followed by a disconnect tone.
They give addresses which are all in Scandinavia.
So BUUKS takes your money, doesn't deliver what you bought and afterwards you find you cannot make contact with them.

THEREFORE, GOOD PEOPLE READING THIS, I CANNOT RECOMMEND BUUKS AND HAVE EVERY REASON TO BELIEVE FROM MY EXPERIENCE THEY ARE A SCAM WEBSITE - SO DON'T BUY FROM THEM.

Devastated!! Inadvertently bought a book in 2021 for £6.50 and they signed me up in the small print to £15 month for 4 years. Literally stopped it today.

A scam. I bought a book in 2021 and in 2025 they started taking money from my account without my consent saying I had signed up for a membership. They took two payments of £15 two weeks apart and are now refusing to refund my money.

Not sure how this company is allowed to trade in uk. I placed an order that was said to be delivered in 2-3 days. It did not arrive for 2 months. And I have just noticed they’ve been charging me god know what membership charge! Apparently they automatically sign you up for membership (not sure what) when you place an order.

This company have taken money from my credit card & I haven't bought a single thing from them, ever. I have raised it as fraud with my bank.

Scammers. In 2021 I bought a book from them. I wasn’t aware they then enrolled me in a membership programme they have since taken £15 off me every month. I have had zero communications from them since then so no reminders to use my membership, no alerts to the payments being taken. Doubtless what they are doing isn’t illegal and I’ve missed some small print but their business practice is disgusting. I see many other complaints of the same nature when I google them. Avoid like the plague.

Scam ! Do not use. Debit monthly on your membership for the privilege of buying secondhand book. Very difficult to cancel your membership when you notice the scam. A £2.50 book cost me over £45.

I have also been a victim of this scandalous company after purchasing a children's book for my daughter. I would like to know what type of con artist book club this is because the payments have been taken out and I didn't even receive any books other than the 1 iI originally purchased. Will be reporting this trading standards and I suggest anyone with a complaint to do the same. There's no way what this company is doing has any legal grounds considering the amount of complaints. Before Buuks replies to me with that careless copy and paste response, I've already emailed you guys as a formality so I can pursue this further .

The website is clear about the subscription service but I bought a one-off purchase in Dec 2021 from a Google search. I do not recall using the website - it's clear, as I say - but however I made the purchase it wan't. The confirmation email went to my spam folder. I've only just realised! I have a newspaper subscription and my wife thought it was that I was paying for. Whatever - doesn't an "unused" subscription not "ring any alarm bells" at Buuks - £390! subscription payments, no subsequent purchases but they keep taking the money.

Ordered a book 13th December. Never recieved said book, emailed them several times as I paid additional shipping and didn't get a reply until 27th December saying the book is out of stock, and a refund will be processed. Never recieved said refund, tried calling and I just keep getting "you are first in line" AVOID!

Stopped my membership (that’d I’d accidentally signed up for!)
And have been randomly charged again

Ordered a copy of"I am hate" on the 15th of December 2024. It's now the 16th of January 2025 and nothing received. I've emailed the times and no response. What else am I to think other than this while company is a scam. Stay away, don't waste your money.

I sent an order 2 weeks ago and have not received it. I've emailed customer support but heard nothing.

Ordered two books 10th December and paid express delivery, payment taken but no goods received. When I have emailed them regarding my order I have had no response. Scam or utterly terrible service! AVOID either way!!!!

Charged me and didn’t send my order until I chased them- arrived almost 3 months late.

Ended my membership in September which they confirmed they had stopped, got randomly got charged again in Jan. contacted them and no reply

Bought a book on Sunday, received it on Wednesday. No problems no issues. I didnt sign up to the membership, I bought a the higher price as I did not want to pay a monthly membership. It is very clear there are two options, one is 'membership price' second is 'non-membership'
So all the negative reviews about being 'tricked' into a membership is untrue, they clearly didn't purchase the correct option!

Really bad. You get tricked into membership without notification and then you pay every month. So sad that a company can work this way.
