I was recommended to use car2europe in Fiumicino Italy,What a mistake.We were to hire the car for 29 days,But to a unforseen death event of a family member we had to fly back to Australia.We only had the car for 2 day.They were not compassionate towards us under this situation.They did not want to refund us our money at all.I Would not recommend anyone to use this company.Shop around and I'm sure there are better company to use.

I was foolish enough to lease a Peugeot 3008. Loved the car which had all the bells and whistles and decided to purchase the vehicle under their special program that allows a 20% discount on the retail value. I thought I was getting a bargain until I found out that importing a car from France to Portugal is like importing from America, except you are subject to the 23% VAT which would not have applied to an American car.
The fact that I was not fully aware of the bureaucratic process, was partly my own fault, by expecting the leasing Company to explain what was involved.
It took more that a month to get this done and the insurance provided by Peugeot would run out before that month. After contacting them , they reluctantly extended the insurance a further 4 weeks at no cost to me.
However the process included first visiting the customs office in Olhao, where I have an apartment, being referred to the customs office in Faro, who referred me to the IMT office, who insisted this new car be inspected for roadworthyness. I had to go on line a book an appointment at their facility in Loule. The soonest was 10 days later and my insurace was expiring on that date. They then sent back to the customs office to pay the VAT. The VAT is paid thru any ATM, but you needed to wait for a document which was emailed to me a few days later. I received this after my insurance ran out and when I asked the leasing Company to extend it for a further 10 days, they refused and said I should have checked into the process before commiting to purchase the car. I paid the VAT and hopefully on Monday I will go back to the IMT office and get my new Portuguese registration. However, I cannot use the car until this is done because the insurance Company in Portugal will not insure a car without Portuguese plates.

We organised to lease a Citroen3 Aircross for 6 months from September to end of February. A week before we were to collect our car, a SUV we were told that they couldn’t supply it and had ‘upgraded’ us to a DS4 - a fast back sedan which has a lot less trunk space and rides lower to the ground. No option for another SUV was offered. Our lease is over the winter in Europe and we have since discovered that the car came with standard tyres. In many parts of Italy and France you are required to to either have 4 season tyres or snow chains over the winter months. When I contacted the contractor I was told that standard tyres is all they supply and if we wanted snow chains that would be at our expense. My advice to future lessors is insist you get what you paid for and question the tyres supplied if you’re driving over winter

We have just returned our Peugeot 208 vehicle and we were thrilled not only with the service and good customer care we received in Rome from David, but also with the vehicle’s performance and perfect size. Navigating through narrow lanes in historic towns was a welcome experience. David was a super kind man who spoke English competently and took the time to familiarise us with the basics of the car. Being a hybrid vehicle it saved us petrol costs and also enabled us to enter low emissions zones. This is our second lease and when in Europe next, we will certainly lease a car from Car-2-Europe again. From our first inquiry in Sydney the whole transaction went smoothly. Thank you David and Car-2-Europe for the opportunity to enjoy our journey through Italy. The biggest plus is its comprehensive insurance and no additional driver charges.

I’ve leased with cars-2-Europe for awhile now but this year was the best experience ever I enjoyed my vehicle they do deliver what they offer. You always get a brand new vehicle to drive with hassle free pickup and delivery the two brothers that work in the Porto, Portugal office are great guys friendly and professional service great to deal with and get you in and out. This is the sixth time we have taken a TT car so that tells you something. You get a brand-new Citroën or Peugeot and the experience has been mostly favorable. Less favorable when a C3 we hired in 2015 developed a fuel fault while in Spain. It was never repaired due to dealerships moving us on - either that or fermée for the annual holiday. We survived by limping around Spain for three weeks and avoiding motorways. Always had a feeling that it would just die one day but it kept going at low speed. The help desk wasn't aware of the 'help' in the name.

This trip we have arrived to find news of the Crit'Air requirement. Hopefully the help desk has arranged for the issue of the label that affixes to the windscreen and for it to be sent to our address here in France.

But, usually we are on the road all the time. The obvious solution is for the car to come with the label. But, no. It would have been possible to order the vignette before I left home, but that doesn't work either. Applying is the owner's responsibility, it seems, and since the car did not get its certificate d'immatriculation until four days before I arrived in France that option is closed off.

So, if you pick up at CDG the car won't have the vignette affixed. If the police stop you going through Paris it is a €86 fine. Welcome to France.

The way I read the law, a Crit'Air label is required on ALL vehicles entering the many clear air zones in France and the requirements are only getting tougher.

Talk to your car2europe agent before you get a TT car.

I was introduced to this rental company through Auto Europe back in the summer of 2020 I've used them twice first time was an amazing experience I had leased a 2020 Peugeot 2008 but due to COVID the car would not be available on time so they replaced my rental with a 2020 Peugeot 3008 which in my eyes was a upgrade to what I was getting. In fact it was an amazing SUV it was a new vehicle out of the factory with only 4 km. The experience of renting from them for the very first time Was a unforgettable experience hassle free and no hidden fees. I enjoyed it so much I made it my to go rental company anytime I travel to Portugal. Due to no flying in 2021 I didn’t need them that year. But in the summer of 2022 I rented again from them but due to shortage of computer chips for all new vehicles that year they had to cancel my order at last moment leaving me without a vehicle. But I spoke to Auto Europe and Car-2-Europe they found me a beautiful substitute for the same cost which by the time I was looking for a substitute the prices had gone up substantially but they never left me hanging. In fact I even received a voucher for 200€ towards my next rental due to the cancellation. That was very unexpected but appreciated. Which to some might not mean much but that’s like two full tanks of gas to me. This year 2023 I’m back and can’t wait for another outstanding experience for three weeks of worry free driving without worries of break downs and extra fees when you get to the counter. I just want to say nothing is 100% but sometimes with a little patience and understanding goes a long way. Thank you to all the representatives that made my experience a great one. Even in difficult times when people are hard to deal with. We’re all humans no one is perfect so smile and be kind to one another and things will always workout for the better. I leased a Citroen C3 AirCross for 6 months Europe trip and it was just perfect, will do it again in a heartbeat.
The car pickup was quick and fast, just sign the documents and go.
The drop-off 175 days later was as smooth. The agent was helpful with handling our luggage before quickly signing the documents and we were ready for our flight.
Because the car is fully insured with zero liability there is no checking for damage or any concern around it.
And during the trip planning, it was easy to change the location of the pickup and dropoff after making the reservation (and more than 2 weeks before the pickup).
