My first order from Carbeth plants was very unsatisfactory. I ordered 12 potted raspberry plants over 4 varieties and 6 bare root canes of a 5th variety. The 12 ports arrived several days late and with no labels to tell which was which. The 6 canes were missing. My complaint be email received a response several days later offering a 10% discount and no canes. They have no phone number and responses to emails are always delayed and seem to be Ai generated. But their advertising emails continue to bombard me daily!

I wrote several weeks ago re poor quality of plants. On this same order I got 6 Platycodon Blue bare roots. On sprouting it would appear they are Lillies. Dreadful quality control.

Both plants arrived damaged. They were packed loose in a box with no protective packing to keep them still. The box had no label to suggest which way was up. One plant has lost almost all of its leaves. Repeated emails to the company have not been responded to. Avoid

I've used Carbeth a few times as they supply hard-to-find roses. They've been friendly when I've had to contact them but I've had quite a few issues with the quality of the rose plants they've supplied. Compared to larger companies, the roses they supply are tiny, and I've had a a few of them die, or struggle and require a lot of effort to establish.

I order a mixed variety of ferns for £17.99 through B&Q. They did arrive quickly and well packaged, but they were not a mixed variety at all. They were all the the same with one of the plants looking in extremely poor state. I contacted B&Q who raised an issue with Carbeth Plants and that was it. No further response from either. It’s not B&Q’s problem in their eyes as they were supplied by Carbeth, who can’t even be bothered to deal with it. Very poor service from both. Why B&Q use them after seeing the very similar complaints being written as I have, beggars belief as it they are risking their name and losing customers, and why Carbeth are continuing to send out poor standards of orders after so many complaints baffles me me. Have they no pride in their service.
Both B&Q and Carbeth have lost a customer in me, but to be fair, I don’t think that they care.

Ordered two cacti at a good price. The process was very simple and user friendly. Plants dispatched and arrived next day.
This is where i need to knock them down a little probably due to the there curier of choice. The box was torn both pots were split thankfully only plastic and one of the cacti had lost all of the small heads at the top and was not even in the pot.
Thankfully otherwise no lasting damage. Generally a good service but i think they need to upgrade there packing and possibly choose a moor reliable distributer

Was skeptical about ordering a fir tree online in case it didn't match the pictures. Need not have worried great looking very healthy, pot grown tree. Delivered when they said. Looked wonderful in the garden decorated and lit for Christmas.

Bought 2 rhubarb plants, one arrived damaged and both were unlabelled and therefore unidentifiable. The company is hopeless to deal with. There’s no phone number so I have to exchange exasperating emails with very polite customer service agents who do absolutely nothing to help, we simply have circular conversations where they sympathise but neither refund nor send replacements. I’ll never buy from them again. Avoid.

I placed an order for what I thought was a rosemary bush but as soon as I had paid for it I got confirmation that it was a thyme plant that I had ordered. I emailed straight away to say please cancel. Nowhere could I find a phone number to contact sales. I received an acknowledgment for my email but next thing was a confirmation of dispatch!

I purchased some plants via Amazon and had challenges with delivery but the Company fixed this. I then decided to go direct as they had some great plant variations.
I ordered 3 tricolour Buddleja and one arrived dead. I emailed the company and have had repeated exchanges following their advice to keep trying. I sent a final email after sending another picture of 2 healthy plants and 1 dead twig. I've been refused a replacement/refund stating they grow them in Scotland so they are hardy and it will eventually come to life.
Someone there needs to watch Monty Python Dead Parrot sketch. This plant is not coming back to life.

Poor customer service having given a newish start up a chance by going direct. Do not use this company

I ordered 2 lots of plants from this company. I received one lot but got a message from the delivery company to say second lot were damaged at depot.I have now received a message from Robyn at Carbeth saying they were delivered ,no plants were delivered and I feel that they think I am making it up. It is not a lot of money more the principle of not getting a proper explanation

Ordered 18 strawberry plants (3 named varieties), but all arrived completely unlabelled, so there is no way to tell what was actually supplied.
This means there is no way to identify the varieties or confirm they are what I ordered, which defeats the whole purpose of choosing specific varieties.
When I raised the issue, I was told I would need to pay return postage. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods should be “as described”, and unlabelled plant varieties cannot be verified as the varieties ordered, so they are not as described. In such cases, the retailer is responsible for the cost of return.
I chose not to pursue a return as the plants needed to be put in the ground, but it’s worth being aware of this if you are ordering from them.
I won’t be using this company again.

I used Amazon and ordered two white leucanthemums. Yesterday, I received two yellow doronicums that appear to have been trampled on by wildebeest en route from Scotland.
I’m certainly not paying to return them and have requested a full refund via Amazon. I’ve also tagged them on LinkedIn with photos as evidence. Wish I’d read reviews before ordering but we live and learn.

Arrived as expected. Still waiting for them to emerge.

I would give zero stars if I could. Abysmal customer service, even if a problem is their fault, don't expect an apology- and beware you have to pay for return shipping!! Avoid this company at all costs - do yourself a favour and buy elsewhere. They don't deserve your custom!

Sent tomato plants that were not planted properly, were bone dry and dead on arrival. They have behaved appalling to my 87 year old mother and refused to refund in full. Their customer service is dreadful and they have caused a great deal of unnecessary upset. Customers deserve more respect. You should be ashamed.

My first order. I ordered 4 bare root privets and 2 climbing hydrangeas. Both hydrangeas were missing on delivery, and one of the privets was clearly dead. Contacted and I received a partial refund for the missing and dead plants. I can understand human error with missing items potentially, but the combination of missing plants and a clearly dead twig was unacceptable, especially for such a small and simple order.

In November 2025 I ordered 5 bare rooted autumn raspberry canes through B&Q which were planted on arrival, mulched and nurtured. In spring of 2026 only one of the five canes is showing growth whereas all my other autumn raspberries are sprouting. I am an experienced gardener in the South and can only assume the canes were substandard. I will not buy from either B&Q or Carpeth Plants again.
