Title: Severe Undisclosed Defects & Unfair Refund Policy – Toyota Sienta (Chassis: NCP81-5078409)
Rating: 1 / 5 Stars
Review:
I am extremely disappointed with my purchase from Carpaydiem Co., Ltd. (Carused.jp). I imported a 2008 Toyota Sienta (Chassis: NCP81-5078409) to Dar es Salaam port. Upon delivery, the car had a completely broken transmission—it engaged in forward motion regardless of whether Neutral, Reverse, or Drive was selected. The vehicle was completely undrivable and posed a severe safety risk.
This major defect was never disclosed prior to purchase. To make the vehicle roadworthy, I was forced to perform emergency transmission repairs at Firm & Soft Autoworks Garage, spending $747.16 USD (1,980,000 TZS) out of pocket.
Despite providing official proof—including Garage Invoice #136 and legal Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) Tax Receipt #24 (Verification Code: E163A024)—Carused.jp senior management refused a cash refund, hiding behind Article 27 of their Terms of Service and offering only store credit for a future purchase.
Selling a non-operational car and expecting the buyer to absorb the repair costs is unacceptable trade practice. I have escalated this matter to JUMVEA and urge prospective buyers to be extremely cautious when buying from this company.
