Ich war mega happy damals cat in a flat gefunden zu haben, da wir eine tolle Auswahl an Katzensitter gefunden hatten und der Buchungsprozess einwandfrei funktionierte.

Seit der Umstellung auf Rover - was zum Geier habt ihr da gemacht?! Neue Oberfläche - ok kann man sich dran gewöhnen. Aber aus welchem guten Grund werden mir die bisherigen Sitter unter den Ergebnissen nicht angezeigt? Früher gab es je Suchanfrage ca. 10 Sitter in meiner Stadt oder wenige Kilometer entfernt. Und nun? Das Ergebnis sind 2 Sitter, welche 25 + Km entfernt wohnen. Ich hatte cat in an flat / Rover angeschrieben. Das Ergebnis: Der Kundenbetreuer müsse das zur Prüfung an das zuständige Team weitergeben. Das ist nun knapp 2 Monate her und leider hat sich nichts getan.

Ich werde nun ohne Plattform die bekannten Sitter privat anschreiben/buchen und mich von cat in a flat leider verabschieden.

Why cant anyone reply to emails

I have contacted Cat in a Flat four times directly and once through here, but I have not received any response regarding the reinstatement of my account. It has now been 20 days without any update.
The reason my account was deactivated was because I accepted a cash payment, which I understand is against the rules. However, it was around Christmas time, and it was impossible to get hold of Cat in a Flat. I was not willing to miss out on payment for a job because I could not contact support.
Since then, I have paid the percentage fee that was required, yet I still have not heard anything back. I have now raised a dispute with my bank because I have not received the service I was expecting. I will await the outcome and proceed from there.

Cat in a Flat war einmal

Vorab: Ich habe früher so gern Cat in a Flat benutzt und glücklicherweise nur gute Erfahrungen und super Katzensitter:innen kennenlernen dürfen!

Nach der Umstellung ist die Plattform allerdings absolut unbrauchbar geworden. Wo ich normal problemlos mehr als 30 Katzensitter:innen finden konnte, werden mir heute mit viel Glück 5 Sitter:innen angezeigt, viele davon explizit auf Hunde spezialisiert. Es ist enttäuschend und frustrierend, da es das Leben nun viel komplizierter macht – gerade wenn man jemanden für Notfälle braucht, bleibt man auf der Strecke. Zudem sind die Kosten regelrecht explodiert – wo ich normal für 1 Woche bisher ca. 130–170€ zahlen musste (natürlich je nach Sitter:in und Besuchsanzahlen), werden mir nun von der App über 320€ ausgerechnet, inklusive 42€ Servicegebühr. Es ist unglaublich enttäuschend und ein Schlag ins Gesicht für jede/n Katzenbesitzer:in und Katzensitter:in! Ebenso verweigert die Plattform auch den Austausch von Telefonnummern, was die Kommunikation im Allgemeinen für mich persönlich nur erschwert in einer "digitalen Welt".
Ich kann Cat in a Flat aus meiner Erfahrung absolut nicht mehr empfehlen – einfach nur schade.

From amazing to hell

I used to absolutely love Cat in a Flat. It was a brilliant, community-focused platform where you could easily find genuine, local cat lovers to look after your pets without any fuss.
Ever since the merger with Rover, it has turned into absolute hell. The once-simple app is now incredibly complicated and glitchy, making it frustratingly hard to book my usual sitters. To make matters worse, my app is now completely stuck in Spanish with absolutely no way to change the language settings, even because the web version is in English! On top of that, the hidden fees have spiked, making it significantly more expensive for the exact same service. A once-amazing app has been completely ruined by corporate greed. Avoid

New version is awful :(

New app isn't good at all. Very unhappy you take money way before the job starts. Prices have also gone up. Yet another big tech takeover that's not good for customers. What a shame as loved the original app. Someone start a new better version please!

Payment changes. Dissapointed in the change of business

Cat In A Flat has been my go to for cat sitting while I go away and this negative review isn't for the exceptional care I receive, it's for website merge with Rover.
I have a couple of trusted cat sitters on this platform.
Since Rover has taken over, the website is difficult to navigate, I managed to enquire a cat sit with someone I didn't ask due to not unchecking some boxes I didn't notice at time of enquiry with my usual cat sitter which was embarrassing and now a complete stranger knows I'll not be in my house on certain dates which is unnerving.
Payment policy has also dramatically changed for the worse. It has always been that payment is taken at the time of the service, a few days before the sit starts.
Due to change of ownership, payment is is now being taken in full at the time of the booking. So if booking for a future holiday they will sit on your money for months. This isn't great, especially if you budget for the payment to be taken as it used to be, a few days before the arranged sit.
Not the company it used to be. I may well have to rethink my cat sitting arrangements going foward, which is sad as I totally trust my Cat In A Flat cat sitter.
I also tried to contact Rover to ask why this has all changed but I got a chatbot that was useless and I don't like using wattsapp for business accounts. No email address to send a message to.
Are you able to look into changing this method of payment back to how it used to be, as it looks like I'm not the only one mentioning this in their reviews. Why change something that worked so well? Thanks.

Cat in a flat war bis zur Übernahme von Rover eine tolle Plattform - übersichtlich, intuitiv zu bedienen und mit fairen Gebühren. Im Vergleich zum Februar 2026 habe ich bei der jetzigen Buchung 140 € mehr gezahlt (jeweils Ferienzeit, jeweils 7 Tage). Bei meiner Katzensitterin werden aber nur 20 € mehr ankommen als im Februar.
Vor der Übernahme von Rover wurde der Betrag erst kurz vor dem gebuchten Zeitraum von meinem Konto eingezogen - jetzt sofort (über einen Monat vor Buchungsbeginn!). Meine Katzensitterin bekommt das Geld aber erst einige Tage NACH der gebuchten Zeit. Rover fährt eine tolle und funktionierende Plattform gegen die Wand und verlangt auch noch einen Haufen Geld dafür.
Für die nächsten Urlaube werde ich mir etwas anderes überlegen müssen: Über Rover werde ich jedenfalls nicht mehr buchen.

Had no issues until their recent merge…

Had no issues until their recent merge with Rover now it feels like a scam. They took a £24 “verification fee” from me despite the fact I’ve been cat sitting through this app for years. Do not use this app!!!

Ich habe Cat in a Flat als Katzensitterin geliebt und habe super tolle Kontakte geknüpft. Seit der Übernahme von Rover bin ich nur mehr unzufrieden. Ihr habt ne wahnsinnig tolle Plattform an ein amerikanisches Unternehmen verkauft und damit komplett alles eingebüst.

A once great service reduced to something you'd find in a litter tray

The merger with Rover was a masterclass in appalling customer service. I loved Catinaflat before the terrible Rover mess happened. I don't need to go into detail on all the issues as it's been documented by many many many MANY other people already, but I would never recommend Catinaflat now. I'm no longer part of the community because I refuse to use Rover. It's such a shame that they decided to totally screw over everyone who liked the original service.

Rover is a scam !

We've been using cat in a flat for years with no issues HOWEVER we're trying to book our usual sitter for the summer and the Rover app is unable to process the payment to complete our booking. It's been over 24h with us reaching for the support chat multiple times and even our bank. Confirmed no problem on our side but now Rover is asking us to use a ''less secure'' method of payment... Smell like a scam to me. We'll find another way to get our cat looked after and close our account. Would strongly not recommend!

Terrible since the merge

This review has nothing to do with the cat sitters (they've all been great) but the merger with Rover. The changes to the app and website mean it now doesn't actually function - I didn't even realise a sitter had replied to me as I had no email or notification. And the prices are now astronomical for the same service, with the same sitter. I've used Cat in a Flat for years but will be making my own arrangements from now on.

Die Übernahmekatastrophe des Jahres

Die Umstellung auf Rover ist und bleibt eine Katastrophe. Ich als Sitter kann die Enrichtung nicht so vornehmen wie es sein sollte und bei Ciaf möglich war (2 Besuche pro Tag). Es ist unübersichtlich und absolut unverschämt teuer (sowohl Sitter als auch Kunde müssen 15% bezahlen). Die Profilseite ist eine Zumutung, die Bilderübername ein Witz (was ist das für eine Auflösung) und die Kommunikationsseite hat überhaupt keine Struktur. Das Buchungssystem ist unlogisch und der Support nicht vorhanden. Leute, das war gar nix. Hätte ich keine Stammkunden, die diesen Unsinn mitgemacht haben, würde ich es zukünftig bleiben lassen und mit andere Kanäle für mein flauschiges Gewerbe suchen. Schade.

The site used to be easy to navigate

The site used to be easy to navigate, but since the merger it is now awful, and you can't even sort sitters by distance?! Also now charging double for an extra cat and visit... they clearly have no clue what it's like to cat sit and are only thinking of the ££££..... Will not be using CIAF anymore due to these thoughtless changes. Good job guys, you've lost a lot of customers! 🎉

We've been using this service for 8…

We've been using this service for 8 years and we've been using the same sitter for about 3 years. It's now so much more expensive for the same service, so this will probably be the last time. The additional cat charge is ridiculous, the interface is annoying and it just changed overnight, really sad and i'm so annoyed about it.

Another one lost to American greed

Another one lost to American greed. Since Rover.com changed the platform they have increased my fees for my sitter by 65%, they also charge a booking fee, then I find out the sitters don’t get the full fees charged. So they are just taking straight off the backs of honest hard working people. Disgusting. Will never use them again. Such a shame the old cat in a flat was superb.

Been both a cat siter and customer on…

Been both a cat siter and customer on cat in the flat for years. Was a great way to book cat care, putting me in touch with local cat lovers in the community. However, the merger with Rover has been shocking. As a sitter I was given barely any notice or chance to have my say on how the merger would impact me - it was just forced upon me. My repeat clients have complained to me about the Rover app, which has terrible user interface, and they now take payment up front. I had one angry client message me saying their money was taken without them expecting it, leading to financial trouble that month. Truly shocking approach to a merger. Once I complete all my transferred bookings i'm closing my account and giving up cat sitting as its ruined the experience for me. Hope they get shut down completely after this.
