Unprofessional experience with CBT WestâŠ
Unprofessional experience with CBT West London. I specifically chose the Chessington branch to ensure a productive day. I paid £365.50 for a full day (6-8 hours) of Module 1 training, but the service was not delivered as promised. I am an experienced rider with many years of motorcycling, and I paid specifically to receive the necessary coaching on UK-specific maneuvers and regulations, but this was not provided.
Most of the session was wasted on road travel and coffee stops at McDonald's, as well as Module 2 practice which I did not request. I received less than 40 minutes of actual instruction for Module 1. The instructor only showed the maneuvers but provided no technical corrections or feedback. Had I received the full training and proper coaching, I would have certainly passed.
I sent two emails to ensure everything was documented, but the company representative refused to provide a refund for the unfulfilled training, insisting I travel to their office just to 'talk.' As shown in the attached proof, I received my result at 12:10 PM, confirming the promised hours were not met. I have all evidence documented via email and I intend to report this to the DVSA and pursue a legal claim.
Completed my CBT at this schoolâŠ
Completed my CBT at this school recently. I did receive my certificate, however my overall experience was very disappointing and far below what I expected for the price paid.
The main issue was the motorcycle I was given. It was clearly not in proper working condition â extremely difficult to find neutral, repeatedly stalling, and at one point not starting at all. As a result, I had to push the bike more than 10 times throughout the training day. This was physically exhausting, especially while wearing full riding gear, and significantly reduced the amount of actual riding time I received. Towards the end, even other students had to help push the bike because I was too exhausted to continue doing it alone.
This was not just inconvenient â it had a direct impact on the quality of my training. Being physically drained from repeatedly pushing a faulty motorcycle makes it much harder to concentrate and properly develop riding skills.
Despite these ongoing issues, I was not provided with a proper replacement motorcycle.
What made the situation particularly concerning is that after completing most of the off-road training on a manual motorcycle, I was then told to switch to a moped (automatic). This is not a minor change. Completing CBT on an automatic bike would restrict the rider to automatic vehicles only, meaning I would not be able to ride a manual 125cc motorcycle without retaking the training. Suggesting this at such a late stage of the course was inappropriate and could have resulted in an outcome that did not match what I had originally paid and trained for.
Additionally, during the on-road session there were three students sharing only two working motorcycles. This meant reduced riding time and a lower quality of training compared to what should reasonably be expected.
I also found the instructorâs communication style unnecessarily harsh and not particularly constructive. The overall atmosphere was stressful rather than supportive, which made the learning process less effective.
To be fair, I did notice another instructor working with other students who appeared calm and professional, so I do not believe the entire school is necessarily poor. However, my personal experience on the day was genuinely negative.
For the amount paid, I expected properly maintained equipment and a professional standard of instruction. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
I am sharing this review so that others have a clear and realistic understanding of what they may experience.
I spoke to several instructors at CBTâŠ
I spoke to several instructors at CBT West London. All were lovely. But my main experiences were with Paul at Chessington.
I genuinely couldn't have asked for a better instructor who wants you to succeed, and succeed safely. I completed my CBT and both Mod 1 and 2 with Paul, passing first time under his tutoring. In between my CBT and Modules, he gave me really useful advice, and it really helped me when it came to taking the tests. He clearly cares a lot about getting people to ride safely, and is a well of knowledge for all things motorcycle!
If you're reading this Paul, cheers mate. You are an amazing instructor, and I will be pointing anyone else in your direction if they also want to learn.
And Thanks to all the CBT staff I briefly spoke to. You all were fantastic.
This company doesn't do fair business
This company doesn't do fair business. The terms and conditions document requires candidates to possess a provisional licence and appropriate clothing. My son is 15 years and 11 months old, and he has a provisional driving licence, but he was not let to do the course on the day as he was not 16yrs old. I have complained to the company that their Ts&Cs document didn't mention the restriction. Also, we filled out the online form before the course, and I have put his DOB, so they know he is just turning 16 years old. They could advise us that he cannot take the course until he is fully 16 years old and could rebook for a month later. However, they accepted the booking and payment, stating that it was our responsibility to be aware of the restriction. So, why isn't this information included in the Terms and Conditions? They do not do fair trade, and business honesty is important; they should have advised us and made the necessary correction instead of just pursuing our money! What business is this?

I recently completed my CBT training at CBT West London, and I couldnât have asked for a better experience. The whole process was smooth, well-organised, and very professional.
A special mention goes to my instructor, Paul, who was absolutely brilliant. He was patient, clear in his instructions, and made sure I felt confident and safe at every stage of the training. Paulâs teaching style is supportive and encouraging, which really helped me improve quickly and enjoy the day.
I would highly recommend CBT West London and instructor Paul to anyone looking to complete their CBT. Excellent service, great value, and top-quality training!

Paul at the Chessington site was fantastic, extremely knowledgable and very personable when it came to teaching. One of the students on the course booked this specific site in order to be instructed by Paul, and Iâll do the same next time around!

Great school - well run - brutal feedback
I had a great day at the school yesterday. The whole thing was incredibly well organized and the focus on rider safety comes through on everything. I feel very ready to take to the road on a bike.
Youâll need a thick skin - however. The way the instructors give feedback is brutal and at times humiliating. My teachers at school (30 years ago) were nicer. However, provided you donât mind being spoken to like a 5 year old youâll be fine and it is all done in the spirit of keeping you safe.

An Amazing CBT Training Experience in Chessington with Ralph âââââ
I had an absolutely fantastic experience completing my CBT training in Chessington with Ralph as my trainer. From the very beginning, Ralph showed incredible patience and professionalism. He took the time to explain every instruction clearly and thoroughly, making sure I understood each part before moving on.
His calm and supportive approach really helped build my confidence, especially as someone new to riding. No question was too small, and he always made sure we felt safe and comfortable at every stage of the training.
Thanks to Ralphâs excellent guidance and dedication, I successfully completed my CBT and left feeling fully prepared and informed. I can confidently say heâs a 5-star instructor, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to take their CBT. Thank you, Ralph!
Mod 1
Iâve just passed my Mod 1 motorcycle test and Iâm absolutely over the moon! Big thanks to CBT West London for the amazing training and support throughout my journey.
A special shout-out to my instructors, Claudiu and Geoff â both were fantastic. Their clear instruction, patience, and motivation made a huge difference and really helped me feel confident on test day. Every part of the training was well-structured and focused on helping me succeed.
The Mod 1 itself went smoothly â from the figure-of-eight to the emergency stop â and I felt fully prepared thanks to the guidance I received.
Now Iâm excited and ready to tackle Mod 2! If youâre thinking about getting your motorcycle license, I highly recommend CBT West London â professional, friendly, and super helpful all the way through.â€ïž
5 Star Motorbike Training
I had an excellent experience with CBT West London throughout all of my motorbike training. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, always giving out sound advice and expert training. A lot of time is given to experience on the road and the feedback helps so much with preparing for the tests.
Special shout out to Claudio and Paul for their help and support building up to my Mod 2 on one of the hottest days of the year!
I would highly recommend them

A great day with Paul and trainee instructor Geoff. Really good, practical and plain spoken instruction, just what me and my son needed. However, don't underestimate a CBT if, like us, you've never ridden a motorbike before. By the end of the day we were both exhausted! Thanks guys for a great first step on our motorcycling adventure.
Told them in advance I was short andâŠ
Told them in advance I was short and disabled told them the bike I was learning on.
Put me on a bike that was unsuitable I could just about touch the floor.
I managed to ace the teaching part fine despite struggling and kept saying I was because the bike was too big.
Iâm 4ft11 disabled and this was put in the extra notes when booking that I needed extra brake throughout the day.
This was ignored.
The other instructor was nice and calm very soothing voice but he disappeared after an hour.
The instructor was rude, derogatory, made fun of people and just all around rude.
Gave everyone else waterproofs but not me.
The result of me being on a bike that was too big caused me to get pinned to the floor with this big bike on top of my leg !!!!!!
After that I was in pain but didnât realise the severity of my injuries until I got home
Dislocated toe, my footâs badly bruised and glad I wearing a back protector because I would have easily broken my back.
I didnât notice how bad it was because of how cold I was.
I told the instructor out on the road I was struggling with the clutch and accelerating and even reaching the indicator because how cold and wet my hands was.
He told my partner he failed me over the speed because I couldnât go the speed limit ? Pretty hard to go the speed limit when there a cross winds blowing me sideways on a bike I couldnât control and my hands seeing up. I couldnât do my safety checks because how unstable I was on the bike.
Also side note telling my helmet isnât accredited when it one of the most well known brands with a British gold motorsport sticker on the back that I got from a well respected bike shop in Dorset shows you had no idea what you wear talking about.
My and biker partner has been riding for a very long time and he has the same stickers.
And you made everyone feel like crap today kindness and understanding goes a long way Iâll make sure no one goes with this company because everyone today hated the experience.
£225 to be put on innapropriate clapped out motorbikes and to have your answers get responses that were rude!
Didnât like the jokes about being politically correct and comments about immigrants.
And if your a woman deffo avoid they are highly misogynistic
