I have just completed my course with UKCAPSA and it was everything I thought it would be and more. The course is very insightful and has genuinely helped me on my journey to becoming a celebrant.

Before signing up, I looked at lots of other training providers. Some offered training over a weekend and honestly, I’m still unsure how that’s even possible when there is so much information to process and learn properly. Other courses also didn’t seem as in depth or aligned with my own values.

From my initial consultation phone call, I immediately felt at ease and knew this is what I wanted to do and my trainer, Laura Widdop, was phenomenal throughout. She was enthusiastic, very informative and incredibly helpful, and was always on hand for advice and support. You can tell she genuinely cares about what she does and about the people she trains.

Having already had years of experience in customer management and public speaking, I was actually surprised at how informative I still found those parts of the course. I genuinely gained something from them, which says a lot about the quality of the training provided.

The course itself is very well laid out, with lots of detail and precision put into it. There’s a huge amount of information provided, but it’s structured in a way that makes it manageable and clear. It really does set you up nicely to go out and be a celebrant once you’ve completed the course.

What also sets UKCAPSA apart from others is that it’s an SQA-accredited centre through Qualifications Scotland. At the end, you receive your Celebrant and Public Speaking Diploma, which gives you that extra credibility alongside the practical training.

I also loved the amount of resources provided throughout the course, which were incredibly useful and something you can keep going back to. And they don’t just leave you once the course is done. Laura was great in her follow up call, gave me valuable information about next steps, and offered to be on hand for help, advice and support within the industry if I ever need it. The recommendations and guidance she gives are invaluable.

I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone thinking about becoming a celebrant. I have loved every minute of it and it has left me feeling very optimistic about the future.

I researched a few celebrant training courses but UKCAPSA just felt right from the get go. It just felt like an organisation that was in it to make a difference and produce quality celebrants, rather than to just make money. Talking to Laura for the initial call was like having a chat with an old and very helpful friend, so I was thrilled when, having decided to do the course, she was allocated as my tutor. Working with and learning from Laura has been an absolute joy. Her knowledge, advice and experience has been invaluable and she could not have done more to help me. She was flexible, generous with her time and I felt like I was really looked after by an expert. I feel like I have a friend for life! That said I felt the whole course was incredibly professional and very thorough. You have to work hard and much of it is independent tasks and assessements, but that is the reality of what being an independent celebrant is and you absolutely get out what you put in. While initally daunted by the 6 month duration, I'm glad there was a time pressure as it trains you for the realities of the actual job. In England, I could have become an independent celebrant without any course but I honestly have got so much from it. It has provided the learning, resource and confidence to set out on my own. Thank you to the organisation, but most of all to Laura. You are a superstar!

From start to finish my experience with the Course coordinator, tutor and wealth of resources has been Outstanding!
Every unit is well prepared with interesting, relevant and suitably challenging resources. Each assessment is aimed at developing the essential skills required for Public speaking and becoming a confident Celebrant.
Excellent support and guidance from a knowledgeable and experienced tutor, with open dialogue through tutor calls and opportunities to practice every skill required; from script writing to mock family meetings and performing part of a script. The entire course has given me the confidence, knowledge and skills to step forward into a new career as a Celebrant. I cannot recommend this course highly enough!

Having looked at other organisations that provide Celebrant training I am glad I chose UKCAPSA. The course materials provided were excellent and without a doubt prepare you for becoming a Celebrant. The units challenge you and also get you to question your own belief systems and what you value. The tasks and assessments are rigorous and can be challenging. I thoroughly enjoyed doing this training and can highly recommend it.

My own personal drive to become a Celebrant had been bubbling away for quite a number of years. The trigger to this was finding myself carrying out my own fathers funeral, followed by numerous requests to do others.

So, with the pathway completely sewn for me, it was a natural progression for me to find the right training provider to help me on my way.

There is a lot of training providers who claim to have you up and running in a weekend course or after a few weeks. Good luck to those that choose that route, however, for me the UKCAPSA Diploma surpassed my expectations.

The course was rightly challenging and stretched the mind, ensuring that each part of the process involved is clear.

Good handouts, videos and excellent tutorial support made a big difference as I worked through each Unit.

Big thanks to Paul, Laura and Brian who all provided support to me, mentoring, guiding and challenging me over the course.

If you want to do a course that is accredited and will prepare you well for your future celebrant role, you can stop looking - you have found the right place.

It's hard to know where to start sometimes when it comes to furthering your education/online courses. But as soon as I got in contact with interest in doing this incredible UKCAPSA course, I was met with wonderful, friendly and helpful people. This continued throughout! I have nothing but positive things to say about the people who helped me through and the course itself. My tutor Yvonne, nothing was ever too much - she was always at the end of the phone at the drop of a hat. I felt truly supported throughout. I really enjoyed my UKCAPSA training, it was great course and has helped me to be a good public speaker. From the very first enquiry phone call, I knew I'd come to the right place! From start to finish, everything was clear, intuitive and helpful.
My tutor was a pleasure to work with, she was friendly and helpful as well as extremely knowledgeable. The course was delivered via an online learning portal which was fairly easy to navigate. The course materials and tasks were interesting, varied and well-put together. The UKCAPSA diploma is an excellent programme, and I'm now so excited to put my new knowledge and skills into real-life practise!

For a long time, I expressed my desire to undertake this exciting journey. Apprehensive to tell family and friends, I plucked up the courage to tell them my dream. Much to my surprise at the response from others, it inspired me more to do this. So I began to talk more with my family and friends. Their first words were 'Wow! you'd be amazing at this. Then one day, I had the opportunity financially to do this.

So, I began the application and had the 'ball rolling' and went through all the formalities and entered onto the course. This has been such an exciting adventure. I learned more and more about myself on the journey. Currently working as a Community Nurse, which is a rewarding job. But I thrive to see happiness in people. In my career in nursing, I have worked with elderly and palliative care. This was where I began to feel that I wanted to do more for the deceased. Ensuring that when someone was dying, they go peacefully and not be alone. But, some patients slip away when no one was in the room. This was a tough part of the job. Becoming a Celebrant would be an amazing journey for me. But then when I read up more, and weddings and baby naming days were suggested I thought 'this is its'. This is where I am destined to be.

Now that I have completed the course, I look forward to what lies ahead. The support I had from Paul Browett and Laura Widdop was exceptional, and for that I thank them. Their approach is friendly, approachable, congenial and encouraging. I can now say 'I Finally Did It' thanks to them and to UKCAPSA!

High quality learning materials and great use of "onefile" VLE. The course was well paced and the tutor support top notch. I was able to fit it round my full-time job by having tutor calls at a time that suited me, often in the evening.
The work was challenging but very rewarding to have completed it. The feedback provided was always supportive, encouraging and purposeful - and very timely!
I am looking forward to applying the knowledge, understanding and skills in the real world. It is quite a daunting responsibility but with the learning and support gained through unertaking the UKCAPSA diploma I feel ready to go!

Celebrants are not legal binding and anybody can do this, by my experience with co op funeral care Westbridgeford Nottingham the lady celebrant they recommended was an absolute joke ( I would love to mention her name but I can’t ) she read out the wrong speech at a recent funeral I went to and took no accountability for that , she passed off as working for a company that she does not work for, corrupt on every level. Co op hired her on the cheap.Think twice if co op recommend a celebrant , get your own celebrant who can be trusted.

I really enjoyed my UKCAPSA training, it was very thorough and has set me up to be the best public speaker I can be. I believe I have developed a lot of knowledge of celebrancy and how to be a good celebrant. I look forward to the opportunities that this course will bring me in the future. Thank you to my tutors for all of their help and guidance, I felt really supported throughout all of my assessments and course work. If you want to pursue a career in celebrancy and public speaking this is the course for you!

After much research into different Celebrant courses, I found UKCAPSA and was encouraged by the existing reviews online. After an initial chat with experienced celebrant Paul Browett, I was firmly on board.
I found the course both challenging and enjoyable in equal measure and I feel that the feedback from my Tutor Laura was honest, valuable and extremely constructive. The support I received whilst undertaking the course was exceptional and tailored to my personal circumstances. The course has given me various points to reflect on in terms of what kind of Celebrant I would like to become and I feel this course has been the perfect foundation for me.

I gained so much from this course. It provides such a good introduction to the role of Humanist Celebrant. The legalities of marriage, the sensitivities around funerals and the importance of good communication, all covered in great detail.
My tutor Paul Browett provided a lovely balance of support, constructive feedback and encouragement. I also gained invaluable insight from Brian Baxter another tutor.
You can complete the course in your own timescale and this really suited me.

I cannot recommend UKCAPSA enough! The course was very informative, well ordered and paced allowing me to study around my other commitments. The assignments were appropriately challenging and I felt they have prepared me well for a career as a celebrant and public speaker. All my tutors have been wonderful, giving constructive feedback and real life examples to compliment the theory. They were available when needed and were invaluable in helping me to pass. I really hope to be able to work with them all in future as colleagues as they were such good coaches. If you are thinking about a new career as a celebrant then the UKCAPSA diploma should be first on your to do list.

This is an informative and creative online course that has helped prepare me for my new role as a Celebrant. The tutors were supportive and made themselves available throughout the training to meet and share their experiences and offer useful feedback on course work as well as going over end of unit assessments. The course involves a mix of reading, creative writing, assessment and presentation skills. Units include Humanism, customer care, weddings and renewals, funerals and naming ceremonies; legal requirements in Scotland are also clearly shared.
I felt this course suited me best as it is quality assured by SQA and the format allowed me to plan my study time around other personal commitments.

I loved doing this course.....the content really made me think and the support I got from my Mentor/Tutor was invaluable. I would recommend this to anyone considering becoming a Celebrant and can't wait to begin my own journey.

Having recently completed my Celebrant & Public Speaking Diploma with UKAPSA, I can honestly say that the whole experience from start to finish was one of professionalism and positivity. I was guided by my tutors Laura and Paul, through each module, allowing me to build my confidence and knowledge at my own pace but always feeling supported if there was any queries along the way. The course was well constructed and hugely enjoyable, and I now feel well prepared for my new career as a Celebrant. Paul and Laura were always available for advice when needed, both technical and constructive, and I really felt supported by the whole team at Fuze, and continue to do so.
