Unusable service, poor follow-through, and pricing that makes no sense
We were introduced to Checkbook.io through a partner platform because we needed automated payouts. From day one, our payout limit was set to $0, which made the service unusable.
For the next couple of months, we repeatedly tried to get this resolved. During that time, there were more than 7 missed meetings on Checkbook.ioâs end, plus 4 more meetings that were canceled at the last minute without a clear explanation. Communication was inconsistent, follow-up was poor, and the entire process became extremely frustrating.
After all that, the pricing we were finally presented with was $1,000 per month plus $0.40 per transaction. Our business typically processes only around $1,400 to $1,800 in payouts monthly, so those costs are completely unreasonable for a small operation like ours.
What makes this especially disappointing is that we signed up expecting a functional automated payout solution, and instead spent months chasing a service we were never actually able to use.
Based on our experience, I would strongly caution other small businesses to get written confirmation of onboarding status, payout limits, and actual pricing before relying on Checkbook.io.

Requesting to shutdown this company. This is a scam company, they will deduct payment from your customers account but not release your payout. They will say some problem happened with the payment and the payment has not been debited from customers account. They are bloody liars and they will deduct the payment from your customer account, and not even give you the payout by giving false reasons.
They charged $399 from my customer's account and that was our first payment on this gateway.

I have having a problem getting information verified with the support team. I wanted to add another bank account for billing, and they suspended my account. The biggest problem is you don't answer at all. This morning left 7 voicemails, and emailed support 20 times to start to get a response. I sent all of documentation that support asked for, and still no response. Created multiple support tickets, and called in the afternoon and left another 10 voicemails with no response. I emailed support every 15 minutes and no response. This can be resolved with a 5 minute phone call.

Absolute garbage. Tried setting up to send payments. Took several days as usual to verify account BUT the account is set at an automatic $0 allotted to send payments. I have sent multiple requests to increase the limit with the same bot reply and a week later NO way to send checks. "It's been escalated"....bs. Switching to a platform with customer service availability now. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY.
They were fine for a number of years but things dramatically changed this year. With one day notice they changed their processing timelines from 1 day to 3 days. They then had a series of errors that extended the 3 day fund hold to 6 days. They have done a terrible job of communicating, have been combative, and have turned into an awful partner. They are also, with no notice, instituting burdensome rules that I have not seen from other processors and offering no justification for those rules. My guess is that they had a major fraud incident. Something definitely changed on their end.

They post misleading timelines to receive deposits and when I contacted customer service, they were incredibly unhelpful. They told me it could take up to ten days for an ACH deposit, apparently assuming I have never sent nor received an ACH deposit ever in my life. I would save time by driving 2,000 miles to their offices and picking up a physical check as opposed to their service. Don't use them if you need your money on time.

The payout from the company (that sends the into to Checkbook.ioO) was delayed, but once that was sorted out, the Checkbook.io folks were very responsive and prompt with their replies to my email; and they were able to fix any delays. They kept me up to date with the process very well, and were professional and pleasant to work with, throughout the process. Thanks so much!

Too bad I can't give it a negative star rating. There is NO redeeming quality about this company, in fact, I have absolutely no clue how it is still functioning?!

It has been over 2 weeks and they have not approved my account or sent out my payments, after I have provided the requested documentation, multiple times... and mind you, this is AFTER they email my clients about their incoming payments... then not making the payments for over 2 weeks, making me and my company look like the incompetents, when it's this trash company. If you require verifications of any kind, they should be done at account setup, not after you notify clients of incoming payments.
