Assaulted in August 2024; no win no fee solicitors consigned my case to a 20 month deliberation by CICA; only to reject it. Not sure whose to blame: the solicitors for this application, or CICA not enamored by my photographed injuries; but I 'm now left without legal representation and running scared of being fleeced by another firm of chancers

Terrible. They claimed they sent a letter out 6 months after I put a claim in. Here we are 1 year later. Been emailing them everyday, phoning them… nothing. I think they do this to try and make people give up on them. But not me. I’ll be emailing them everyday… even if it’s for the next five years. Diabolical.

In 2019, I was the victim of a violent aggravated burglary. I was followed home after a night out without my knowledge and was attacked while asleep by two offenders. I sustained multiple hammer blows to the head and was left unconscious and close to death. Paramedics found me unconscious at the scene.
As a result of the attack, I suffered severe and permanent injuries, including a C4 neck fracture, traumatic brain injury, prolonged epilepsy, ongoing concussion-related symptoms, chronic sciatica, and significant mobility difficulties. I continue to struggle with walking, pain, seizures, and cognitive impairment following multiple medical procedures and operations.
The offenders were convicted in 2021 of aggravated burglary with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and received sentences of 13 years each.
A Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) claim was submitted over three and a half years ago. Despite providing full medical evidence and records, the claim has repeatedly stalled, changed handlers, and returned to previously answered questions months at a time. This process has been deeply distressing and has significantly worsened my mental and physical health.
I have since instructed a solicitor, who has advised that CICA have not been responding to them. I have been told complaints can only be submitted every six months, leaving me without any meaningful progress or clarity. I have also written to my local MP on three occasions and received no response.
Since the attack, I have received no clear guidance, care plan, emotional aftercare, or practical support related to the long-term consequences of the injuries. I am currently awaiting trauma therapy. The prolonged delays, lack of communication, and absence of support have become retraumatising and are now severely impacting my wellbeing.
This statement is provided to clearly outline the seriousness of the incident, the long-term consequences, and the ongoing difficulties caused by the handling of my case. Thought I'd share this.

The state is obliged to compensate the victims of crimes according to UN General Assembly resolution 40/34

Why they called the ‘Authority’? Because they are authorised by MOJ to compensate the victims of crime, working in triangle with NHS and the police

in case you’re lucky and succeeded in obtaining your medical record, review your medical record and see if there is any information contradicting the facts. your worst enemy will to be the medical secretary (the link) (GP/NHS psychiatric) (they can close up the whole practise by NHS, no one will be your friend, they will do what they need to do to carry on working.

The large number of applicants who been denied a compensation for subsequent charge is quite fishy, watch out for your personal affairs, your own neighbour, driving, any other, you will be followed. (they are called the authority)

They won’t respond to your communication, they won’t giving you any update or inform you on the status of your case, living you to suffer even more. It’s the way to delay your application for number of years.
The authority will do all what they can to delay your case for number of years, the more they delay the more your suffer and will be hard to represent your medical case, the authority will request your medical record for 3 years prior to incident added to the subsequent years of delay.

First they will refuse your application, after a number of years you may get lucky to deduct 1/3 then later (after a number of years) they will try to find another way to deduct another /1/3 or find another way to deprive you totally from whatever left over.

Technically the MOJ responsible for the operation of CICA but they are declining any responsibility, obviously they know what CICA are doing
CICA is out of questioning or responsibility, they’re always right and will be packed

The Problem with CICA that cases are very personal matters therefore no one to over watch the legality of decision and procedures.

there is no solicitor will take your case unless they know they can get a lump sum of your compensation (1/3 of it)

Do not trust anything CICA publishing, these are just decorating materials no one capable of knowing the truth, for them everything can be justified.

Don't trust any positive reviews, they do it for themselves.

I was helped every step off the way by cica,they sent all the forms and was it was very straight forward to fill them in 11 months later I have been awarded for my broken elbow and just had conformation that my payment is been processed.
I think negative reviews are left here from greedy and angry people who never got the amount of money they thought they were going to get probably had it in they're heads they'd be rich (fools)

You provide all information required to then hear nothing for a year, you can never get through, and the complaint procedure is a load of tosh. It's dreadful that the trauma you sustain is made even worse by CICA dragging there heels. Just a dreadful experience and by reading reviews im not the only one. It's honestly appalling

Don’t trust a word that the cica say

or the police I’ve been seriously attacked had fake unspent conviction charges brought up and received 1300 pounds to accommodate my jaw being broken in multiple places causing effect of my teeth where my teeth had risen out of my jaw bone and I’m suffering five years on going and still no justice or help.

This people are bunch of liars they sent me letter correspondence in delay wrote as loop about medical evidence plus they said on the letter if you have any issues please contact us they never pick up the phone but when they do they are very rude put me on hold 3 times and not get to the point answer to my questions Very bad and never seen compensation for being assault , Cica are Bunch of Liars

I have put in a claim for repeaded sexual assult over the course of more than 3 years. Originally I was denied any payment. Now it's back in a review stage and I've heard absolutely nothing. You can't speak to anyone, and when you email them for an update they don't reply. It's extremely triggering to have to wait and see if your trauma experience is worthy of their time. I'm appealed at how much they don't support or care for people.

You can never get them on the phone! I have been trying to get this sorted since 2023!
I sent all my information in 2023 and still they ask for more information. I have just received another letter asking for all my medical records again. Again they want me to pay £50+ the worst part is the letter arrived at my house Monday and it is dated JANUARY!
Its madness. I was encouraged to go down this route by my ISVA. This is the last part of putting my attack behind me and yet they are dragging their feet. Its disgusting behavior. The aftermath of domestic violence is bad enough let alone incompetent people like this.
I changed my address months ago and still they write to my old house fortunately all post is forwarded but still. COME ON!

You can't get through on the phone EVER. You email to change your address (they gave me a 14 day deadline) and give the reference number....they message back telling you there's not enough information. What do they want? Blood samples....DNA to identify you.
How many other people in the UK actually have the same email address as me???? Buck your ideas up it's a joke

Was really surprised of the ruling while i was bitten a mentally ill person who should have been monitored by carer. Don't trust them . No balance of judgment. The judge was nice but i could not understood the Scottish accent which made things more un present, the other person keep telling me to shot up. I did thank the Judge and said bye

Alexina Kelbie.
No compensation for the Kelbie family on the death off their sister Alexina Kelbie. Not enough evidence of violence on Alexina so it seems.

Police Scotland claim they have no records on Alexina, considering we have two files on her alone and her case made public six decades on, its no such wonder corruption is ripe in Scotland.

We will expose this CICA out to dry along with the rest of the Scots government all in good time.
We test the the governemnt, go full force of the law and we build enough evidence from the victims of today many children and victims contiunue to suffer, then we gather evidence and bring them down.
We have given victims of child abuse more funding over the years through charity than what the Scottish establishment has ever done. Police Scotland seem to be not recording crimes properly according to law.

They string out the process for as long as humanly possible in order to reject your claim one way or another.

Five years after I applied for compensation, I was sentenced to one week in custody suspended for public order, I was unable to avoid the crowds that were gathering and the police were arresting any and everyone.

Ordinarily, CICA took months to respond to any queries or update on my case but they were immediately on me like a rash and told me they can't pay out compensation because of this.

It was five years later LOL. They had all the evidence, reports, everything they needed. There is no valid reason why I was waiting so long. They were looking for any reason to reject the claim.

Honestly a waste of time. Even if I wasn't arrested, I'd probably be dead before they paid compensation.

If you think that law protects you in uk, think twice.
This is the scheme which will drive you to commit suicide after you have been a victim of a crime in UK.
1. The process is too lengthy which doesn't define the word "compensation ". Who needs a compensation after 2 years or more?
2. CICO contradict what GP state.
So you have now, a medical negligence case against your doctor. (In reality you don't but CICO push with they response that way so they can justify they lengthy process).
3. Complaint process - complete joke! They brush you off with their response in the way you won't have a complaint even if you will reach Parliamentary Ombudsman.
4. Parliamentary Ombudsman will say the problem is now of Ministry of Justice who provides the budget for having enough staff to assess your case quicker.
5. If you suddenly die - they don't need to pay you compensation.
6. Democracy and human rights don't exist in uk - CICO is a proof.
7. CICO is there to cause you further psychological damage.
