Reverse dieting for my wedding!!
Going to the gym, keeping fit, active and healthy have always been a huge part of my life. I have played competitive netball, have competed in weightlifting and CrossFit competitions, and have had several PTs / online coaches. Though I was still training regularly, I started to lose my ambition with my training and felt like I was just going through the motions. With my wedding planned for the end of August 2023, I really wanted to look and feel my best.
In the past, I have definitely fallen victim to overtraining and under-fuelling and this is something I was adamant I did not want to do this time around. I LOVE to train and I LOVE to eat and something I have always admired about Georgia is her training styles and just how much food she eats! With 10 months until my wedding, I signed up straight away.
Throughout my time with GLJ, they have specifically tailored training plans to suit my specific goals (increase glutes and hammies and to get leaner), the equipment my gym has on offer, my ever changing hectic work schedule, as well as multiple trips away, meals out and some injuries along the way. The part I find crucial in all of this, is the weekly check-ins I have with Harvey, my main coach. These provide me with accountability, endless streams of support, real talk, encouragement and reassurance. Harvey has really taken his time to get to know and understand me as an individual and I feel so grateful to have him as my coach.
Before I joined GLJ I must have been training 6/7 times a week, sometimes training multiple times a day. I was probably eating close to just 1,600 cals a day, as well as juggling a highly stressful job - a lot of exercise and stress and not much to fuel it.
So far, in my 10 months with GLJ, I have maintained my weight, gained muscle, lost fat and finally, just 3 weeks from my wedding, I have started my reverse diet. I would never have dreamed of INCREASING my calorie intake so close to my wedding day if I was on my own, but Harvey has broken everything down for me and got me into a position where I am able to do this. I am feeling the best I have ever felt mentally and physically. Though my progress hasnât been linear, I now have a far better relationship with my food and training. I have dropped my training down to just 3 weights sessions a week, allowing me to properly rest and recover between sessions, to actually enjoy each session, as well as free up more time in my week for myself.
I really was um-ming and ahh-ing about whether I could afford coaching with GLJ on top of paying for a wedding, but it has been worth every penny. This has been everything I could have hoped for and more and I really cannot fault the service I have received, specifically from Harvey. If you are even considering coaching with GLJ, just do it! It has been, and still is, invaluable to me!
