i think the best part of my experience was how the advisors kept me on track throughout the process. it allowed me to really dig in the the applications that mattered without leaving them all to the last minute.

I enjoyed the advisor's clear breakdown of tasks and essays, taking daunting goals and making them achievable.

My experience with Christina has been amazing over the past months. She is very open with me and tells me exactly what I need to hear. She helps me become aware that I do not need to be trapped.

My daughter's advisor was Anja Abney and I highly recommend her. She was efficient and caring. She encouraged her and kept her on track with over 15 applications, including reach schools. My daughter was admitted to a great university with a less than 20% acceptance rate and we are very happy.

I highly recommend working with Dr. Fritzie de Mata; she has always been there to help me when I have to make the most important decisions. Whether it is summer program selection, course selection, or essay selection, I can always trust Fritzie to help me make the best possible decision.

Both of my advisors were very helpful and friendly. They responded to emails quickly and we made a lot of progress during meetings. They were amazing at helping and editing college essays which was my biggest help from them. I would recomend!

I used to be so stressed about the college process before CollegeAdvisor. I believed I wasn't prepared enough to attend a good university and was already feeling overwhelmed before my senior year even started. That fear quickly went away when my advisor Jasmine Phillips met with me and already mapped out a plan for me to follow throughout my time at this program. She helped me tremendously with organizing my to-do lists and reassuring me constantly that I was heading in the right path. Having someone like her who I could go to anytime for support and would help me whenever she was free improved my experience so much. I truly am here today because of her efforts and the CollegeAdvisor program!

Review of CollegeAdvisor

CollegeAdvisor has been a helpful resource for our family as my son navigated the college application process, but our experience was mixed.

Pros

Our initial sessions with Anja were outstanding. She helped us ease into what can be a very overwhelming process.
Anja was highly responsive and detail-oriented. She consistently caught things we would have missed and made us feel prioritized.
She kept us on track with timelines, proactively accounting for holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas so we didn’t fall behind.
Through her network, we gained useful perspectives on how admissions officers might interpret essays, which added value to our strategy.

Cons

The biggest challenge was the lack of continuity. Over the course of one year, we were assigned four different advisors. One left unexpectedly, another stepped away due to workload, and another was brand new. This constant turnover disrupted consistency at a critical time.
There was also a concern around session hours. We were initially told that unused hours (from a 45-hour package) could roll over for our other children. However, after a few months, the balance appeared reduced to 30 hours without explanation. We reached out for clarification but did not receive a response, which was disappointing.

Overall
While the quality of individual advisors like Anja can be excellent, the inconsistency in staffing and lack of transparency around billing reduced our confidence. Families considering CollegeAdvisor should clarify advisor continuity and session policies upfront.

I like how my advisor pushes me to complete tasks and maintain a direction. They've been very helpful in maintaining a focus on areas of improvement and providing suggestions.

College Advisor has been a great resource for our family to help our daughter prepare for college applications. There are so many things to do junior and senior year and it can be overwhelming. Our college advisor, Christina has provided support and guidance throughout the process. Our daughter feels more prepared as she navigates through junior and senior year. As the saying goes, you get out of it what you put into it....CollegeAdvisor and our assigned Advisor, Hameer, were great resources - very professional, spot on with advice, great tools to offer, especially for families unfamiliar with the college prep and application process - but for seasoned families that have successfully navigated the college experience, it's an unnecessary expense.

I had an amazing experience with Fritzie as my advisor at College Advisor. She provided great support through my journey in selecting colleges to apply to, helping me write my essays, and overall guidance in answering any questions I had. I would definitely recommend Fritzie because she is very friendly and approachable and she also works around your schedule to help you out whenever you need it. She and the college advisor team helped me get into some of my top choices and find the school that’s right for me.

Lonnie is an AMAZING advisor

Yes I really enjoy my time with my college counselor. She gives excellent advise and keeps me in line when I got off the rails. She’s punctual and is very flexible with her scheduling.

I had Fritzie de Mata as my college advisor, and starting junior year, she helped me strategically plan my extracurriculars and senior year courses to build the strongest possible college application. During the summer before senior year, I felt very nervous and overwhelmed by the application process, but she broke everything down into manageable steps. She helped me create a college list that aligned with my interests in computer science and business.

Most importantly, she guided and supported me through completing all of my applications. I was especially worried about writing essays, as I struggled to put my thoughts into words and didn’t know how college essays should be written. For my personal statement, I had a Google Doc of scattered notes and no clear direction, but she continuously provided structural guidance, helped refine my writing, and pushed me to dig deeper into my story until I felt confident it truly reflected my growth. She also broke down the supplemental essay process and helped me plan the order in which to tackle them.

Throughout the entire process, I felt supported and ultimately submitted my applications with confidence. I am incredibly grateful to have had her as my college advisor, and I’m so excited to share that I’ve been accepted into my dream school the University of Michigan Ross School of Business as an undergraduate student!

My first advisor wasn't extremely helpful, but I was to get new advisors who were very knowledgeable about the college process. They helped me build a college profile and pick out a few more colleges. Most importantly, they helped me a lot with my essay writing. They offered ideas and constructive feedback. Lastly, they both had great personalities, making it easy for me to talk to them honestly.

We could not be happier with our experience working with Zee. He has been exceptional in every way. Zee is knowledgeable, encouraging, organized, communicative, and genuinely caring. He has taken what can be an incredibly stressful and overwhelming process and turned it into something clear, structured, and completely manageable for my son.

Zee has an amazing ability to understand who my son is and recommend colleges that are truly a great match. Thanks to his guidance, my son is already way ahead of the curve as a junior with college planning, essays, and SAT prep. Instead of feeling pressure and stress, he feels confident and supported because Zee has broken everything down into steps and has a clear plan for every stage of the process.

As a parent, I am so grateful for Zee’s expertise and the care he brings to his work. It is obvious that he is deeply invested in helping his students succeed. Starting with College Advisor in junior year has been one of the best decisions we have made. It has been a fantastic experience and more than worth the money.
