Just finished my Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Theory week at Compass Sea School in Inverness and I highly recommend it. The course was intense in the best way, packed with useful learning and fun, delivered by a highly professional instructor. We were looked after brilliantly throughout, too. A superb week and a school I will return to without hesitation. Thank you for the great experience!

Great day very welcoming, good tuition. good lunch. Would definitely recommend if your thinking of sailing cruisers. gave me a chance to see how i would cope with the physical side. Only downside I lost my Beenie :-( - So professional people who know what they are doing and will look after you. Thanks Guys, Leonard

A fantastic training experience in the heart of the Highlands. They run a run a relaxed, but extremely professional training programme, an extremely well balanced combination of theory in the classroom and then out on the water putting it into practice. The kit and equipment provided is top notch and the Instructor subject knowledge is second to none, I would highly recommend using Compass Sea School for your training, I have already booked my next course and look forward to learning more with them.

Just completed a sailing taster day with Compass in Inverness - what a fabulous day! Firstly, huge thanks to Kath for offering great help and advice prior to the sailing day. And secondly, much gratitude and admiration to Mandy, our trainer on the day, who guided us with expertise through some pretty hairy moments out on the Moray Firth yesterday!
I wasn’t a complete novice to sailing but wanted to brush up on some skills learned many years ago and this taster session was absolutely perfect.
Would highly recommend Compass to anyone thinking about taking up sailing - professional, knowledgeable, highly experienced people delivering their training in a very friendly and welcoming environment.
I’m really looking forward to going back in the spring to complete the Day Skipper course. Thanks guys, great job 👌🏼

The Yachtmaster course was intense. As you would expect
8+ hours for each of 6 days, so you get to know each other really well.
Kath was kind, patient and tolerated any number of questions and she tailored the content to both the course schedule and our particular needs
Along the way we managed to have fun and laughed a lot and considering I was dreading the week it was a really positive experience.
I can definitely recommend both the course and Kath My advice is to either do some preparatory reading (Col regs, lights, sounds and signals) or have passed Day skipper relatively recently.
Watching the online Compass sessions was helpful too

Have now done First Aid, VHF Radio and own boat tuition with Compass Sea School. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Courses are really well run, made interesting and all instructors are highly knowledgeable and experienced. Efficient course booking too.

Excellent course instructions and taught in informative and interesting way.
Every effort made to make the course interactive and interesting, with lots of good quality teaching material and presentations of all topics. Being able to see the boats made the safety section more realistic and informative.
Facilities were first class and easy to find

I would highly recommend the RYA Day Skipper Sailing Course with Compass Sea School. The experience from booking to completion was highly professional and hugely enjoyable. Mandy is an incredible instructor, her depth of expertise and her ability to transfer that knowledge to you is something special. She will challenge you to push yourself but is always there to make sure the outcome is positive. The night sail was my highlight of the week. I’m sure I will be back for further courses with Compass as my sailing journey develops.

My teenage son and I attended the Power Boat Level 2 course. The facility is excellent and easy to access. The boat we used was spotless and well maintained. Our instructor Mike was super knowledgeable and extremely patient giving us lots of time to practice the various techniques. The owners were on hand and very friendly. I would have no hesitation in recommending Compass Sea School to anyone! My son and I are already talking about when we can do our next course with them, the Sailing - Competent Crew. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
