My goal was straightforward: a fast, clean, no-fault divorce with minimal attorney-client involvement. I stated that from the beginning.

At my initial consultation with Jerrod M. Rayborn, I felt dismissed and disrespected. When I raised questions about fault-based options after prolonged marital neglect, I left with the impression that Mississippi law offered no possible route, without the nuanced explanation I expected from a paid consultation. I cannot know whether being transgender influenced the interaction, and I am not alleging that it did, but the experience left me wondering.

Tim Hayden later handled the matter. I authorized my grandmother to manage routine communications while I remained available for every decision, signature, testimony, consent, and settlement approval legally requiring me. Tim emphasized that he needed direct communication and suggested that our expectations might not align.

If extensive direct contact was mandatory, that should have been explained before my retainer entered the legal digestive tract. Instead, I received the professional equivalent of a recurring proctology appointment: considerable attention near my wallet, followed by the suggestion that I find another attorney.

I wanted an efficient divorce—not a second high-maintenance relationship. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this firm.

If you look at most firms, including Cordell, you will see that the attorneys lie blatantly. The attorney I contacted here was fake. She lied to me, took my money, and refused to be available on a court date. It felt awful to be avoided like that. You better beware of such terrible people. Stay away if you want a smooth divorce, as these people can't do it.
