We started out with a belief that yoga can transform youâon and off the mat. When a serious climbing accident left him with six permanent screws in his shattered ankle, CorePower Yoga Founder and CEO Trevor Tice experienced first-hand the transformational benefits of yoga. An avid outdoorsman from Telluride, CO, Trevor was left searching for an exercise to replace the running, climbing and other physically challenging activities that were no longer accessible to him. He found yoga, and was hooked. Traveling for his technology business, Trevor practiced a variety of yoga disciplines at yoga studios across the country and found an opportunity to make yoga dynamic, challenging and convenient. In 2002, Trevor opened the first CorePower Yoga studio on Grant Street in downtown Denver, CO, offering a proprietary form of athletic, heated yoga in modern, welcoming and spa-like studios. With six teachers, including Trevor, teaching four classes per day, it took several arduous months before classes began to fill up. But they did. And it wasnât long before people were talking about this new yoga.

COREPOWER YOGA'S CORPORATE BUSINESS PRACTICES ARE DEEPLY TROUBLING.
CorePower will charge your credit card for fees you may not even realize you've incurred, without providing an invoice or other notice of the charge. You may discover what happened only when you check your credit-card statement. And when you challenge the charge, CorePower hides behind its âcorporate policyâ of not issuing refunds.
This happened to me when I rescheduled classes in July and August 2026. CorePower treated the rescheduling as cancellations and charged me accordingly. Of 13 times I rescheduled classes, CorePower sent me an invoice for only ONE of those charges. The other charges appeared on my credit-card statement without an invoice.
That experience made me cancel my membership on August 21, 2026.
Then it happened again. I cancelled six days into a new billing month, having not used the service, yet CorePower charged me for the entire following month. They refused to prorate the charge for the days before cancellation.
I complained to CorePower. It was pointless. Rather than address the basic issueâcharging a customer for services not receivedâthey simply invoked company policy.
Their policy may say what they are allowed to charge. It doesn't make the practice transparent or customer-friendly.
My policy is simpler: I don't pay for services I didn't receive.
If you have a CorePower membership, watch your credit-card statements carefully. Don't assume that every charge will be accompanied by an invoice or that you will be notified when a fee is imposed. Or better yet â go to a different company.
There already are 44 complaints with the Better Business Bureau against CorePower Yoga.
This isn't a complaint about the yoga classes. It's about how CorePower chooses to bill and treat its customers.

Just a caution for anyone considering a CorePower membership: keep a close eye on your billing, especially if you freeze your membership.
I froze mine and was surprised when CorePower automatically started charging me again without any reminder email or notice that the freeze was ending. I understand that the restart date was probably somewhere in the terms when I froze it, so Iâm not saying the charge was necessarily incorrect. But in a world where so many companies rely on automatic memberships and recurring charges, I think customers deserve a heads-up before billing resumes.
When I noticed the charges, CorePower wasnât able to refund me and instead offered store credit, which isnât useful when Iâm not planning to use the membership.
I enjoyed CorePower, but this left a bad taste in my mouth. If you join or freeze a membership, definitely set your own reminder and donât rely on CorePower to notify you.
CorePower offers an amazing online training experienceâPaige Moe and her team are professional, supportive, and genuinely inspiring. Their leadership makes the training empowering and educational from start to finish. However, my in-person class was the complete opposite. The instructor began by saying she would usually run Sculpt classes âlike the Navyâ but would âgo easierâ on us, only to spend much of the session calling students âlazy as f***â for taking water or childâs pose. At one point, she even told us that if someone asked whether weâre hard workers, we should answer that weâre âlazy f***s.â To end class, the instructor said, âDonât f***ing gaslight yourselves. Maybe working out isnât for youâmaybe walking under a nice shaded tree is more your thing.â While self-acceptance is important, the delivery felt harsh and discouraging. Worse, during another in-person class, I was touched on the inside of my thigh without consent. The incident was serious enough that I reported it, and the police confirmed it was assault. That experience left me feeling violated and unsafe in a space that should promote trust, respect, and healing. Adding to the discomfort, the studios are overcrowded, with mats packed only a few inches apart. Thereâs little personal space, and the heat combined with the lack of ventilation makes it feel suffocating rather than energizing. CorePowerâs online program remains excellent, but the in-person culture I encountered failed to uphold the same standard of safety and care. Until the company enforces stronger consent policies, accountability, and instructor oversight, I canât recommend their in-person classes.
I love being able to drop into classes whenever, and there are several SOLID teachers at my nearby CPY studios. The only two 'cons' I can think of are that they rely on teacher and SET team members to clean (rather than having separate cleaning staff), and you have to cancel your monthly membership with 30 days notice which is inconvenient.
I took a class in the Raleigh, NC studio. North Raleigh studio I think it is called when you register. The studio was clean and the class was fun/challenging. Locker room was clean and had products to shower after.
horrible customer service they took nearly $272 from my account without authorizing after a trial membership. The studio is too far away and I had no intention of continuing a membership. I asked for a refund and they would not give it to me. They only offered me a store credit. I am furious.
Corporate Yoga. Very brand consistant with appearances and classes. Kinda like McDonalds, same experience regardless of the studio. That can be good or not depending on your preference. Strictly an asana practice, instructors are not allowed to bring Yoga philosophy into classes.
They do not pay or treat their instructors, support staff and managers well and have had a lawsuit (or two?) over that. The company was very top heavy with upper management making lots of money with anyone below them earning less than minimum wage. Perks for upper management included all inclusive resort vacations where money was free spend on alcohol and drugs. I don't know if that is still the case, but disparity between the top executives and their employees is exceptionally unyogic.
Horrible Customer Service!! Zero stars
Would not discontinue service for an account that I was paying for, so had to cancel my credit card. Very frustrating policy. The yoga classes were pretty great though.
Truly the worst customer experience. The amount of times I've emailed and called their customer service line in the past 5 days is insane. I've gotten someone on the phone telling me they will CC me right now on an email for someone to help, and 40 mins later- no email.
Decent gym love that it's 24 hrs. The problem is I cancelled my membership and 2 months later they continue to take money from my account which is strange considering last month when I called them I was told they deleted my account info. Shady business practices.
Terrible customer service. There is never a manager on duty and they refuse to return your call if there is an issue. Referred someone and after three weeks, no points and no resolution.
CorePower has done a great job opening their studios and protecting their staff and customers. Temperature checks, mandatory masks, and class size limits.
