Thank goodness we found Crown Property Management


We've been working with Crown Property Management for a few months, talking to them for far longer as one director has had a very good historic working relationship with them. They've sorted out a mountain of issues caused by our previous agents, been so attentive and helpful as we've started to work together. Nothing is too much trouble - sorting roof leaks to loose carpets on the stairs, to swift contact with all owners and suppliers. We are very grateful to them.

There had to be a professional management company in Torquay

Now I m asking to many questions about a cash call and my emails have been blocked.

Renters worst nightmare!!!

I’ve been renting from the same unit since 2018. Before Crown Property Management took over in 2021, I was already experiencing issues with the original property owners. While things started out respectfully, over time that relationship eroded. They began retaliating, ignoring my rights as a tenant, and even siding with individuals I had obtained a temporary stalking order against. I had to fight for basic protections, even with third-party documentation as a domestic violence survivor.

When Crown took over, the situation only worsened. I’ve experienced constant harassment, surveillance, and extreme difficulty getting even basic repairs addressed. I’ve lived in a persistent state of hyper-vigilance because I’ve never been treated like a tenant whose safety or dignity matters. Despite being a long-term resident who always pays rent on time—even through the pandemic—I’ve been made to feel invisible, unsafe, and disposable.

Most recently, a mold inspection was conducted where the inspector, Phil, began taking photos of unrelated areas of my home without explanation. I consider this an invasion of privacy, especially given that I have pending legal claims against both the City of Salem and the State of Oregon, and Crown has collaborated with one of my named co-defendants during previous inspections. It felt like surveillance—not safety.

On top of that, after multiple lawful inquiries into a carbon monoxide detector that was installed without justification (I have no gas appliances), Crown provided conflicting explanations until finally admitting it wasn’t legally required and that I could remove it. This further confirmed my suspicion that these installations were retaliatory and potentially invasive in nature.

I’m a single mother, domestic violence survivor, and the only Black tenant in my building. Over time, I’ve had to bring in lawyers and advocates just to protect my rights against both Crown and the former property owners. I stayed here for so long because I have a son, and finding housing during a crisis was difficult, so I tried to make the best of it. But now it’s gone too far.

There is visible black mold in my son’s room. The carpet has been moisture-damaged for years. These conditions are now a serious public and individual health hazard—and that was my last straw. No tenant should have to endure this kind of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion just to maintain housing. I’ve done my part. I pay rent. I keep to myself. I’ve tried every avenue to resolve things peacefully and lawfully.

I’ve documented these conditions with photos, written communications, and third-party reports, all of which are preserved for legal and evidentiary purposes. This situation also raises serious questions about discriminatory housing practices and violations of my fair housing rights as a Black single mother and survivor of domestic violence.

But I’ve had enough. I’m preparing to pursue civil litigation against Crown Property for the harm caused. They assumed that because I’m a single parent, I wouldn’t fight back—but they were wrong. I have nothing to lose and everything to gain by standing on business and advocating for myself and others like me.

I’m sharing this publicly so that no one else has to go through what I’ve gone through. Especially not during a housing crisis. Especially not when you’ve done everything right. I do not feel safe in my home anymore—and that should never be the reality for any paying tenant. If this review helps even one person avoid the harm I’ve experienced, then it has done its job. We deserve safe housing and accountability—no matter our race, family status, or trauma history.
