I hate the app, very confusing with the bank balance. Used to be good until they made it worse !

Customer Service Terrible..

local branch now closed for a long time (previous northernbank) I used to get a regular phone call or email from a rep to see how everything was going and now and again an invitation to call into branch. Recently made appointment for me and my daughter to call in and open a student account with a small overdraft... lady in branch late to appointment and no paperwork. started to apologise and ask why we were in. I then explained why and asked about options. lady then proceeded to patronise my daughter about did she know what an overdraft was.. I went to speak to ask about options only. she put her hand up and said sssh!! at that point I stood up and me and my daughter left - i informed her that I’ve been a customer for 30 years and this was the worst customer experience. I drove down the road to nationwide, spoke to a lovely lady and my daughter sorted with a student account and small overdraft.. my daughter has also just received a welcome student box full of goodies and games. danske bank - i’m in the process of moving all my and my wife's accounts to nationwide given this experience.

my experience with this bank has been awful. I moved to another UK bank shortly after these experiences and really haven't had an issue since.

Issue number 1 - my card being spat out by ATM's - I was having issues withdrawing cash from ATM's as my card would simply be spat out of the machine with no reason. Correct Pin entered and even at Danske Bank ATM's. One day this became too annoying to deal with so I go into the bank to ask what the deal is. The woman at the counter was impossibly rude and dismissive and simply cut up my card and wouldn't give me any cash. I had to walk home in the rain as I was unable to BUY a bus ticket.

Issue number 2 - blocking my online shopping - Danske Bank saw fit to block my online shopping transactions because they didn't have my phone number. I tried to order my friend something for Christmas and my card was declined because Danske Bank couldn't text me a code. This happened at least 10 times and resulting in items going out of stock because I only had this bank account at the time. I then received a call from them asking me about my recent transactions so they indeed had my phone number.

Issue number 3 - mobile banking disaster - I cannot set up online banking. I don't understand why but the plethora of numbers provided to me by Danske bank will not let me log in and use online banking. Very annoying.

I am constantly suggested by their social media team to call them but I can't when I am at work. I have not yet closed the account but over the last 18 months or so I have hardly used it, it's honestly a waste of my time even visiting a branch to close it

Been with Danske (formerly Northern Bank) for many many years. Service is always first class any time I have had to pop into my local branch. Website/eBanking/Mobile Banking App are so convenient.

They also helped me with a loan to enable me to purchase my first car. Service from start to finish could not be faulted.

If I could give 10 stars I would

Extortionate fees. Despite trying to get back on my feet financially extortionate fees keep knocking me back. Have asked for help in paying fees but told not an option. Customer service nil. No help given despite asking for assistance. Have now switched & made complaint but have no confidence I will get anywhere. Just so annoyed they couldn't help.
