Finding Devlin Peck's free content introduced me to a whole new career path and gave me the confidence to transition from school principal to instructional designer. Over the past five years, I have consistently followed Devlin’s content and learned everything from practical skills like Storyline 360, to creative strategies like gamification, escape rooms, and integrating AI simulations and coaching into my workflow.

What sets Devlin apart is his ability to break down complex concepts into clear, actionable steps that you can immediately apply to your own work. I have also greatly benefited from the guest experts he brings to his platform. Through professionals like Connie Malamed and Cathy Moore, I have expanded my network and gained valuable insights into visual design, action mapping, and instructional design best practices.

Most importantly, Devlin's work is driven by purpose. He is not simply teaching skills; he is helping people transform their careers and livelihoods. His guidance played a significant role in my own career change, and he continues to inspire and support instructional designers around the world. I am incredibly grateful for the impact he has had on my professional journey and for helping me stay current with emerging trends and innovations in the field.

Delvin really breaks down what the essential skills are to successfully break into instructional design. What helped a lot was the portfolio critiques. Seeing a wide variety and all the pros and cons really pushed me. Insights and tools he offers are also very helpful. I successfully bridged into instructional design and attribute my success was learning from him.

Although I completed my formal degree in Instructional Design in 2013, my real journey into the field began in late 2020. I was ready to combine my formal training with my years of experience as a teacher and tutor, but I had no idea where to start. Lucky for me, a simple Google search led me straight to Devlin’s site. The only word I can think of to describe what I found there is “relief.” Devlin’s free videos, articles, and guides made what I wanted to do (break into a new industry, quickly) attainable. Over the next couple of months I consumed every resource I could get my hands on. This led to my first job in Instructional Design and the growth hasn’t stopped yet!

I started following Devlin Peck in 2022 in hopes of changing my career from trainer to instructional designer. YouTube is where I found most of his content which shaped me as an instructional designer. I would complete the projects and follow the advice he provided regarding the industry. I ended up leaving my career as a trainer in 2025. In the same year, I created my portfolio and landed my first role as an ID. I owe a huge thank you to Devlin for his time and dedication to the field of instructional design. His website, portfolio examples, and YouTube videos served as a launch pad for my ID career. Thank you Devlin for your free content and for all that you do for IDs!
