Worst experience weâve ever had renting a car â avoid at all costs.
After completing a full reservation, we were denied the car at the counter for two reasons that were never clearly communicated at booking:
1. Our credit card was a combined credit/debit card, which they refused â despite it being a widely accepted Visa/Mastercard credit card.
2. They claimed our driving licence had to match the nationality of our ID. We are Italian citizens travelling on Italian passports, but we live in United Kingdom and hold a valid EU driving licence issued there. This is a perfectly legal document across the entire European Union â and their own staff couldnât apply the rule consistently.
Neither of these conditions is stated clearly at the time of booking. They are buried in the small print of the voucher you only receive after paying â making it impossible to prepare in advance.
We travel frequently and rent cars internationally all the time. We have never been turned away like this. The staff showed zero flexibility or willingness to help find a solution, leaving us stranded.
Save yourself the stress â book elsewhere.
The only way they give the car was pay a extra Premium Cover Insurance 140 EURO + Tyre and Glass Coverage 40 Euro + Personal Accident Cover 20 Euro + Car Cleaning 15 Euro total 235 EURO This are scan company On the top this I am payed extra Plus the payment I done online when i reserve the car through company Union CAR with full protection. I am now sent the report to MASTER Credit Card to explain and remove from Lounge Key service.

Arrivati a Roma da Cagliari, alla vigilia di Pasqua, dopo aver avuto un inconveniente amm.vo con un'altra compagnia di noleggio, che si Ú rifiutata di consegnarci l'auto (già pagata e per la quale avevamo già effettuato un check-in online) e quindi lasciandoci a piedi per l'intero weekend pasquale, ILARIA Ú stata la nostra salvezza trovando una soluzione alle nostre esigenze, permettendoci di trascorrere tre giorni di vacanza in serenità . Oltre alla disponibilità e alla gentilezza, ILARIA ha dimostrato di saper gestire il cliente, in questo caso noi, con attenzione e competenza, dimostrando che il suo obiettivo non era solo concludere una transazione commerciale ma trovare una soluzione ai problemi del cliente. Pior empresa que já vi no mundo! Um lixo total. Aluguei uma van para passar 7 dias nem Roma pela Discovercars. Cheguei as 11:04 no guichê deles e me falaram que o carro não estava mais disponÃvel porque o aluguel pela discovercars só me garante o carro até uma hora apos o horário selecionado de retirada. Meu horário era de 10 hrs, mas com atraso do voo e de retirada de bagagens e alfandega cheguei 4 minutos atrasado. Estava com duas crianças, esposa e dois idosos. Apos muitos discutir, me ofereceram um suposto carro premium com 7 lugares. O que parecia ser a solução era nada mais que um golpe para tentar me cobrar o dobroâŠdisseram que eu tinha que fazer o seguro total com eles, pq era o melhor carro que eles tinham e tal. Não aceitei porque já tinha feito o seguro completo pela plataforma da discovercars, uma tarifa bem majs alta. No final, quando ela viu que não tinha mais argumentos, entreguei meu cartão para fazer um bloqueio prévio de valor maior e a funcionária indignada que não tinha me enrolado, se recusou a fazer, dizendo que o meu cartão não poderia ser usado porque não estava com meu nome completo como na minha identidadeâŠuma empresa de bandidos! Isso não existe! Eles enrolam para roubar pessoas que não falam bem a lingua local ou ingles. Não aluguem carro nesse lixo de empresa. Me fizeram ter que ligar para Discovercars para eles conseguirem uma outra empresa com as mesmas txas e o mesmo carro e acabamos ficando 4 horas no aeroporto ate essa bagunça ser resolvida.

Following a rental in January, I've now been charged 61 Euro's nearly 3 months later for what the firm claim is an administrative handling fee relating to a traffic violation. However not only did the firm take the money from my credit card without any notification of this to me, they are unable to provide any documentary evidence to show this charge is genuine leading me to believe it isn't. They don't have a complaints process to deal with my concerns. I will never use them again

Very disappointing experience with Differental at Rome FCO.
I had booked a Jeep for about EUR 130 per week and provided my Lufthansa flight number during the booking process. My flight was about 30 minutes late, and baggage delivery at FCO took another 30 minutes. Since nobody answered the phone, I informed Differental via WhatsApp that we would arrive later. My message was acknowledged with a thumbs-up, and I have a screenshot showing the booking number and the confirmation.
When we arrived at the counter about one hour late, I was told that the booking was no longer accepted unless I paid an extra EUR 25 per day. That meant EUR 175 in additional charges â more than the original rental price itself.
What makes this especially frustrating is that the rental terms say the customer must contact Differental in case of delay, and that is exactly what I did. I informed them in advance, and my message was acknowledged. Despite that, I was still charged heavily at the desk.
In that situation, there was no realistic alternative. DiscoverCars could not offer a practical solution, and arranging another car at the airport on the spot would have been even more expensive. So I felt forced to accept the extra charge.
To make matters worse, the car I finally received was a Peugeot 3008 with so little fuel that it was already on reserve.
My impression: poor customer handling, no real flexibility despite prior notice, and extremely disappointing value for money. I would not rent from Differental again.

I am very satisfied with the services of this company, from the beginning of the registration until I handed over the car at night, 2 hours before the plane. The staff is very attentive, they answered all my questions, the car was provided clean, comfortable, economical - everything I needed. I give 10 stars to the guy who helped me register the car at the company's reception. Nice price and conditions, I will definitely contact them again.

I booked an Opel Astra at Milan Malpensa Airport. I waited for the shuttle for around 15 minutes, which was fine.
The company provided me with a brandânew Citroën C3 Aircross with only 8 km on the odometer. The process was quite fast, and there were no annoying attempts to upsell additional insuranceâjust a simple question: âWould you like our insurance with these benefits?â I said no, and that was it.
After 3 days of rental, I returned the car quickly. Since I didnât cause any damage, the vehicle inspection was very fast.
The staff was friendly.
I would recommend this rental company in Milan.
Differental son unos estafadores
El dia 29 de marzo 2026, al llegar a la recogida del coche reservado en la web Check24 y parcialmete pagado , el operador de Differental no ha querido acceptar ninguna de las 3 tarjetas de credito que le he presentado para el pago de la fianza a pesar que las 3 estaban perfectamente en curso de validez, a mi nombre y con fondos más que suficientes. La motivación ha sido que estaban emitidas por unas entidades bancarias que no respondian a los requisitos de Differental sin precisar el porque. Dos de las 3 tarjetas de credito eran del Banco Ing, y la tercera de un Banco Ingles. No me han tampoco devuelto el prepago y ahora estoy en un proceso de reclamación que a ver cuanto va a durar. Una autentica estafa, son unos impresentables no los recomiendo para nada.

The car mainted not well, they didnt replace car oil, and they counldnt help us , so we had to take it for private garage and fix it by ourself

Exorbitant fees, hundreds of euros taken from credit cards after returning the vehicle in perfect condition (confirmed by their own staff), cars that break down (we had to change cars three times). A deeply untrustworthy place to rent a car. 6 months after the rental still dealing with their nonsense.
