What a joke!
Donât waste your time or money with this company. We purchased a Chihuahua Puppy that did not come with papers. Just out of sheer curiosity we wanted to check his DNA. The results that just came back were laughable at best. 41% Chihuahua- 32% German Shorthaired Pointer- 27% Basset Hound. The latter 2 breeds which our almost 5 month old boy âsupposedlyâ has, which also makes up more than half of his DNA according to them, are big breeds that also vary greatly in looks. We charted both of the 2 latter breeds at 5 months of age. Pups in those breeds weigh in at approximately 20-30lbs already. If my supposed only 41% Chihuahua pup was truly mixed with those 2 big breeds, especially having so much DNA percentage of each, his weight would be a lot more than his 4.8lbs. that he is as of yesterday when he went to the vet. Not to mention he looks absolutely nothing like either of those 2 breeds, zilch, nada, 0%! He looks like and weighs exactly what a Chihuahua should be for his age bracket. Maybe they mixed his results up with someone elseâs dog or theyâre just throwing out garbage results and ripping consumers off. Iâm suspecting itâs the latter as they have a lot of bad reviews all over the internet. Wish we did our research first, our mistake! Like I mentioned above, save yourself the time and money and go with the other 2 highly rated dog DNA companies out there, wish we had. Unless you donât mind throwing your money away like we just did.
Scam
My dog is not even close to what they say she is. im pretty sure they just put a random generator in there and send a email back to the customer. advised Petsmart to take it off the shelves. If you paid by credit card absolutely charge back that scam.
A great test for finding out your dog'sâŠ
A great test for finding out your dog's DNA
We adopted Honey Bear about three months ago from Centerton Animal Shelter, and it was a great match for her and us. About a week into fostering we knew we were going to adopt her but wanted to make sure. After the adoption we had to find out what her makeup was. We knew she was Lab but what else. So I started researching what makes up DNA testing, the process and other factors in determining what Honey's background. Looking online there were three DNA testing sites to consider. I chose DNA My Dog because it was on sale at an online store. After reading some of their reviews, they are just as reputable as the other major DNA testers. So I ordered it and two days later it arrived.
On opening the package, the kit was fairly simple. The instructions are straight forward and easy to follow. Obtaining the sample is easy too. Using a swab, just obtain a sample from her cheek, set it aside to dry, place it in a sleeve and seal it all up in a post paid envelope. You are instructed to go online and register your sample with DNA My Dog to receive your results by email.
It took a little longer for the DNA sample to arrive but within two or three days we got the results back.
Honey was indeed Yellow Lab, but what surprised us was the rest of her DNA makeup. On walks she loves to sniff at everything. But what dog doesn't. We thought Beagle or some other hound mix. But it was 50% Lab, 37% German Shepard and the surprise - 17% Doberman Pinscher! Looking at her tail, I can see the Shepard mix in her and now looking at her frame, can see the Doberman. So I am happy with the results.
Along with the percentage make up of Honey's DNA, we also got an idea of the traits of each breed of dog represented in her DNA.
It describes the breed of dog, then How they Show Their Personality, How to Care for Them, How to Build Your Bond and How to Keep Them Healthy. It then describes for each breed What Makes Them Special. This is given to help you make a special bond with your pup.
I had contacted DNA My Dog two times. Once inquiring on the status of the sample. Second time requesting a little more information on the results. Both times I received a response very quickly. The answers to my questions were answered professionally and had all the information I was seeking.
So, yes I would suggest DNA My Dog to you for finding out the makeup of your K9's heritage and you'll also get personalized service to your questions.
Terrible, rubbish, donât buy
I asked my husband for 2 Dna tests for my birthday as I have 2 rescue dogs.
Both results couldnât have been more incorrect. Itâs all rubbish.. the breed and the age absolutely far from being correct.
So disappointing. The company should be shut down. Please donât waste your money.
Unbelievably bad, need investigation.
Unbelievably bad. Customer services are just a cut and paste exercise as they're probably used to the complaints.
Told my dog was 100% Labrador retriever when he is a Greyhound cross terrier.
This is a con on a large scale. And they block you on social media.
AVOID
If I could 0 star I would what a hutterâŠ
If I could 0 star I would what a hutter joke like had my results back and made me laugh I was told what breed my dog was but for peace of mind wanted to make sure and what this site told me is hutter bull xxxx don't waste your money like I have done have it tidy at your own vets
Results faster than we expected & super accurate!
We adopted our pup from a shelter when she was 8 weeks old and were really curious about her breed makeup. Within 2 weeks of mailing the test back we had the results (even though I screwed up by not registering my test on the website beforehand) and they are stop-on for our little Lady! Really close to what the shelter suspected. Even though we messed up by not registering first, I trust the accuracy more because we didn't get a chance to use her photo or give any info on our guesses or what the shelter said. Great customer service, super happy with the results, and the price was great! Ordered on Amazon and got 2-day shipping.
Wish Iâd read the reviews first
Wish Iâd read the reviews first - dog came back as a pure 100% golden retriever. We know for a fact he has more than two breeds in him.
What a con, their database must consist of two dog breeds!!!
We ordered via DNAMyDog Canine Genetic Analysis Laboratory but the results came from AffinityDNA - so many layers that itâs impossible to check who they are.
Weâve wasted our money, donât want anyone else falling for this.
Iâve written to them and theyâre of the opinion they have carried out my request and they stateâŠ
âI am sorry that your are not happy with the test results but our laboratory has provided you with the service that you purchased, and we have ensured that the results are accurate and reliable.
It is clearly stated from the website that the Breed Test is designed only to test mixed breed and not pure breeds and detecting only one breed only means that there may be other breed in your dog but most of his gene pool is taken over by this one breed that has been detectedâ
What utter contradictory nonsense!
Do not order from here
Do not order from here! I received my genetic age test for my dog knowing my dog is at least 9 as had her for 9 years and and wasnât a puppy as a rescue dog but the test came back saying she was 5, I understand they cant be 100% accurate but this was so far from it and a complete waste of money especially for the price they charge and they get it wrong. Also the breed test may be right but Iâm not convinced my dog is a tiny dog and says she has St Bernard in her which is a huge dog; wouldnât recommend.
Genetic age test with an error margin of 10 years
Got the genetic age test. They instead tested the breed which I knew and their result was wrong. I complained and they then promised to do the age test. Then nothing for a long time. A few hours after I threatened a chargeback they sent me the "result". The age of my 10-14 year old half-blind senior dog was according to them 2. They made my senior a teenager. So according to them I should stop the joint supplements, the arthritis injections and the regular checks if the tumor in her eye is growing and start feeding her puppy food again.
We paid $20 for the test and heardâŠ
We paid $20 for the test and heard NOTHING MORE....Absolutely no results, nothing came back. Wife tried to contact with no results...I'll try but its a scam I believe
My tests came back for my 90 poundâŠ
My tests came back for my 90 pound hairy and shedding pure white dog . I was told it was a mix of beagle , Rottweiler and whippet ! Not on of those dogs sheds first of all . My dog looks like a mini polar bear . Totally inaccurate and a scam . Glad to know I am not alone after reading these posts . They should be investigated.
Wildly inaccurate result
Wildly inaccurate result. We were told what both the parents of the puppy were, just wanted to know percentages. Test came back with ridiculous mix of bulldog and greyhound. We have a lab/chihuahua. Waste of money, they don't refund.
Please save your money
Please save your money. This company is a scam. We know the father of our dog and our dog came back 100 percent of one breed which is impossible. I emailed them about it and they said they would rerun the test but came back with same results. Even our Vet laughed at the results. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME.
Very disappointing and totally wrong.
Having met both of my dogs parents, I have a good idea of what they are. (Dad was a Saluki 1st cross and mum was an American bulldog.) What i was curious about was what the Saluki side had been crossed with. What came back from DNAmydog was a Rottweiler x Boston terrier.
Not even close. Total waste of money.
Absolutely incorrect
Absolutely incorrect. I'm not sure what breed my dog is, but I am sure what it is NOT, and the breeds they say he is are just WRONG. What a load of bs.
Very inaccurate or contaminated tests
Very inaccurate or contaminated tests. Either way their customer service was terrible and they removed my very respectful post on their FB page. They don't seem to like you asking questions!
