Really exceeded my expectations, this team are responsive, thorough, engaging & always willing to help and the quality of the output has been fantastic. I have returned to Duck design on 3 separate occasions now and not only has their team been able to take a good chunk of workload off me, their forward thinking team has helped enhance my own ideas to be better. Like with any team, make sure you enter the conversation with a clear view for what you need and articulate it as best as possible, that is the best way to make use of the skills team at Duck Design.

I want to share my experiance working with the Platform "Duck Design".

It started with me looking for a good designer on Upwork. I was already in contact with someone who could help me with re-branding such as brand book, presentations, various templates, content, new website, wireframe, design etc.
Before a salesman from "DD" appeared and made his sales pitch.
He argued that "DD" had a flat monthly price and you could deliver so much graphic work since there was a whole design team working on your task. And taht sound quite good! I mean why not! A whole team of people with grapich skills for a whole month!

But the truth was something completely different after I paid and started.
1. they have multiply people for different task and skills, but its only one that work with you task/project at the time. So the designer needs to finish the first task before jumping to the next.
2. They told me, they make content and writting, but they dont.
3. Since there is only one designer who works on your tasks, what they can do is limited considering that there is a lot of back and forth, which is normal. But time is running out!
4. The first onboarding I got was quite simple without actually going through the project. I was assigned a designer who started with the brand book and I gave careful notice that we had to set color palettes first and update me before we went any further. No one listened to what I said in the "brief" and after a week I received a draft of a brand book where everything from colors and design was wrong. We ended up having to start over again with a new designer.
5. DD uses Trello as there project management tools which is very good, but I have to say that the communication is rather slow.
6. Based on my experience, som poor communication some times as well as feedback time, I think several hours and days are probably wasted into no work/productivity. I dont think this is directly the people mistake, but rather the "trello platform"..

So what is my conclusion after working in sales and marketing and with various freelancers for the past 20 years?

I will say that I got off to a bad start at "DD". I think it's boring that I got a completely different impression than what the reality was.

Had I known how it all worked, I probably would have stuck with a freelancer on Upwork as I would have gotten more for my money. The tasks I never finished on DD I had to give to someone else on upwork, otherwise I would have to renew another month on DD, so I would just end up with a huge loss! Communication in general and no time limit would also be easier on Upwork with a designer at an fixed price.

But I want to add some positive things. After I got a new designer, the project went very smoothly and I have been relatively satisfied with the design and quality, of course there were certain things that could have been improved, but due to lack of time, I just had to jump on to the next task . But overall a good experience with the new designer. I also think that DD is a good platform for outsourcing a lot of graphic work month after month, but for a shorter period, I would probably have tried to find a skilled freelancer/designer on e.g. Upwork where you dont have to think about the time and how much need to be done since you set a fixed price. Plus the communicatons is alot easier from my experiance. You do a zoom call when ever you need!

Because of this sales experience and the fact that things didn't quite match reality, I give DD 2-3 stars, but would probably give them a 5 if it weren't for this sales experiance. The value you get anyway for 1 month is pretty GOOD compared to much else. But be careful with your own expectations in the timeframe, things take time!;)

Emailed a fairly lengthy brief with all the details of what is needed, an email was the correct way to go due to the amount of details in the email.

Had a reply with a request that I book a call on their website, so I do this, I notice on the booking link it says phone call but also mentions a zoom link. Why do I need a zoom call? why do I need a call at all. So in the booking notes I write, cannot use zoom link so only confirm the phone call if it's via telephone as I will be working.

Had a reminder an hour before and also an email asking who I had contacted prior and how I heard about them... surly this irrelevant information could have been asked during the call.

Call time came and after making sure I was available (delayed starting a job) no body rang. Absoloute waste of time.

Absoloute rubbish, if you had not recieved my intial enquiry how did you manage to reply to it?

You emailed me to ask to book a phone appointment, which I did and I specifially wrote in the notes section that if it was anything other than you ringing me via phone call I would not be able to attend as I was at work. Turns out you didn't read that either as you sent me a zoom link. You need to work on your comms.

Great work and clear communication with the team. The team tries to accommodate to different potentials requests and tailor to your ask.

Working with Duck has truly been a very positive and pleasant experience! Their team of designers were very efficient, productive and they delivered their work very quickly! Also, the overall team was very cooperative and clear with communication, which made the workflow really smooth! We are happy with the results of their work, and would approach them again for future upcoming projects!

I had given Duck Design a 5 star rating but I am cranking it down to 2 for a number of reasons. I would give them a one if not for the quality of the designs... My complaints are on the business and process side.

1. During my last month with them there were days when nothing got done. at all. I asked to have those days credited and they offered to credit me the days after I renewed...

2. I had a designer completely drop the ball on a project. What should have taken 2-3 back and forths took 5-6 where he was simply not doing what was given to him. I.E. designing to the specifics of a postcard template. It wasn't until he "completed" the project that I realized that he hadn't done the design to the template costing another day. I asked to get a couple of days credited for this as well and they said they would add them to the next month when I renewed...

3. After dropping the ball and not crediting me for work that wasn't done I decided to leave. I had specifically told the designers that I wanted the editable .ai or .indd files attached to the Trello card which was frequently not done. When I started to move everything over to a new firm (kimp.io) I discovered that the designers lost the editable versions of my work. There were numerous assets that the main designer simply couldn't find. I had the deliverable in PDF but can't make changes. With Kimp.io every single deliverable has the .ai file with it so nothing gets lost... so simple and obvious a fix... I asked them for a partial refund and the business development guy (Artem) simply ghosted me so I decided to change this review to warn others.

I have hired Duck Design for a number of projects. The business model is really innovative (all you can eat design) and the results are amazing. You can see their work in my book: "Government" - The Biggest Scam in History... Exposed!

Worked with them on a several projects , and we are happy with the quality of work. They delivered everything on time and they are very responsive.

We had a bit of a slow and bumpy start, but after changing the designer on their side everything went in a very good direction. The designers were talented and easy to work with.

Nice service, definitely recommend.

Working with this team has been an absolute breeze, we have an ongoing project and they have been in every way very cooperative and time cautious. I would recommend working with them for whatever you may need.

I enjoy working with Duck Design, often I do feel that the designers are a little inexperienced and require a lot of information and direction to get started. The on-boarding process and access to information and setup was also lacking. They are a team of designers who are eager to work hard and keep trying until they hit the brief.

They were able to incorporate everything we wanted into the website and they gave us a full, custom website.

I have ordered for video editing and motion design and i was pleasantly surprised, the designers are very thorough and don't bother me a lot. So far i am quite satisfied with the performance. Would recommend.
