Hi Barbara, thank you for taking the time to leave this review and I'm sorry the sheets didn't deliver for you.

You're right that tea tannin staining is a real weak spot for our sheets, and I want to be honest about why.

Most conventional dishwasher tablets (Finish, Fairy etc) use chlorine bleach to blast through tannin stains. We made the decision not to include bleach because it's toxic to aquatic life and persists in waterways. Our sheets clean well for everyday washing, but they genuinely struggle with tannin buildup and anything that would normally need a bit of elbow grease. That's a fair criticism and we're not going to pretend otherwise.

Here's what we've done about it. We've developed our Dishwasher Booster, which uses sodium percarbonate (an oxygen based bleach that breaks down into water and oxygen, so no environmental harm). A scoop of that alongside your sheet will tackle tannin stains and tougher residue, boosting cleaning power by up to 2.5x, without any of the nasty chemicals.

It also replaces your rinse aid completely. Conventional rinse aids like Finish Jet Dry contain things like methylisothiazolinone (a skin and aquatic toxin), tetrasodium EDTA (which persists in the environment) and zinc acetate (a heavy metal compound). That's what's leaving that film on your glasses and plates. Our booster uses sodium citrate and sodium gluconate instead, both plant derived, both fully biodegradable, no nasty film, no poison.

We're a small family company and we'd rather be honest about what our products can and can't do than pretend they're perfect. Going eco does come with some compromise, but we're always working on the formulation and your feedback genuinely helps with that.

Hi Wendy, thank you for raising this and it's a really fair question. We've got nothing to hide so let me be completely transparent.

Yes, some of our products are manufactured in China, and some in Vietnam, Sweden and Poland. We're a UK based family company (headquartered in Grimsby) and we work with manufacturers across Europe and Asia. Every single one is audited, and our facilities in China are certified as using renewable energy.

We also have customers across 18 countries and will ship from the closes source of manufacturing rather than bringing across the world and back again.

Here's the bit that surprises most people. Shipping by sea from Asia actually has a lower carbon footprint per unit than road freight from our European manufacturers in Sweden and Poland. Container ships are incredibly efficient compared to trucks on motorways. So the "round the world trip" isn't the environmental issue it feels like on the surface.

It isn't possible to manufacture these products in the UK, sadly also if it were, then the pricepoint would be so high that they wouldnt be viable.

We also plant trees for every order through Ecologi, to offset our footprint further. We are building quite a forest.

We chose our manufacturers based on three things: quality, ethical standards and environmental credentials. Not geography. We'd rather work with an audited, renewably powered factory in China than a coal powered one closer to home just because it looks better on paper.
