We had a great experience using this solicitor for our part‑exchange property purchase, following a recommendation from the developer. The service was excellent throughout—quick, responsive, and incredibly supportive during a very stressful period (moving house and getting married in the same week!). I would highly recommend Joni at the Chesterfield branch.

I do not have much more to add as the negative reviews pretty well sum up my experience with this firm. If you are considering them for any legal matters, think again.

We recently bought and sold a house through Elliot Mather and worked with Daniel Linden and his team, it was overall a really complicated process with strict deadlines and unhelpful 3rd parties. However, from the moment we instructed Daniel to undertake our legal work until completion Daniel advocated for us spectacularly, he helped other solicitors where they had become stuck, he worked with property management companies to obtain important documents for the process. He worked with estate agents to chase unanswered enquiries. He spoke to me without using complicated language so I understood where we were in the process.

When the deadline was rapidly approaching (due to other parties) Daniel was chasing emails late at night and early morning.

He would always get back to me when called and always made us aware of what we were waiting for.

Once complete I could see that Daniel was as relieved as us to gain completion and I couldn't be more thankful for the hard work he put in to the move.

I hope to never move house again, but if I do, I will be speaking to Daniel!

absolute joke of a solicitors...didn't present my case in court at all..Mark Stocks hung me out to dry I - just took the legal aid money and did the bare minimum..wish I'd represented myself. DO NOT USE.

Worst solicitor ever.
Unresponsive, slow, selfish… it took almost 6 months for Daniel Lindon at Elliot Mather Nottingham to do the conveyancing of what was supposed to be a simple easy chain of 2 properties and 3 parties! Besides, his unprofessional behaviour impacted everybody: not only us and our buyers (we all suffered stress and stress related illnesses) but also our own solicitors (who never managed to speak to Daniel Lindon during the whole process!), and the real estate agents (one of them even has now decided not to deal with customers using Elliot Mather as their solicitor, which says it all!).
We can’t believe we are finally out of this nightmare! But, after all this time, we have now lost the dream house we wanted to buy…

Used these guys for a recent sale of a property and purchase of a property, Carmen and the rest of the team were brilliant from start to finish. Always replied super fast and was happy to answer any questions we had, I would fully recommend.

I'm a first time buyer and the horror stories I'd heard about buying a house nearly put me off but I can honestly say the service I received from Lucy at Elliot Mather was first class. I completed within seven weeks of reserving my house and that is all down to the hard work, clear guidance and endless knowledge that Lucy provided me with! Despicable behaviours. Solicitor from Chesterfield branch had no morale's what so ever. Used mental health diagnosis as a stick to beat me with, didn't pay any attention to what the Judges ordered and advised his client to do what he wished. Ben was poor how he conducted himself and left me with little faith in the system.

Many thanks to Rebecca Whelen and colleagues Lucy Webster and Olivia Owen in the Chesterfield team for completing our property sale that lay in the middle of four party chain. They were all a pleasure to deal with and took the process from start to completion in two months, getting it over the line when it looked like we might be facing a difficult delay. Communication down the chain appeared difficult and whilst I’d personally have liked more frequent updates over the critical last week or two of the transaction, there was always someone able to take my call and pass on the latest position.

I dealt with the Nottingham branch although I thought I would be dealing with Chesterfield. Jasmine and Daniel never returned phone calls and very rarely returned emails. At one point they were both off on annual leave and I was passed to 3 other people to try and help (who couldn't). I wouldn't recommend to anyone and wouldn't use them again. The whole process took longer than we thought it would with such a sort chain. They didn't answer phone calls and questions by our estate agent and made the whole sale more stressful than it actually needed to be.

maybe I am dealing with a different branch to the other reviewers but God, have they been slow! My conveyancing solicitor hasn't once picked up the phone to speak with me and I'm even avoiding raising queries because each one adds another week's needless delay. Had been aiming to complete by now but nope, can't move because I'm having to check the chimney is safe. I've had other concerns, all of which came from me and not my solicitor so am glad I'm not a FTB as there is no advice or support at all. Won't recommend, won't use again and it's still dragging on to the point that I am considering withdrawing from the chain altogether. They'll still want paying though!

It is with a great pleasure to share how much effort Matthew Macefield put in to sell our house which was a long and difficult adventure due to issues associated with this asset.

Previous solicitor experience made me think they're all the same and very informal - but this wasn't true.

My partner and I had a stressful journey selling up my leasehold flat. We hit hurdles with the buyers as well as delays from the leasehold management company. Our mortgage offer also had difficulties and then some more with an extension for our purchase (market crash) due to newbuild completion delays. All in all, I can't count the times we thought things would fall through.

However Andrew and his team gave us reliable, realistic and FRIENDLY advice when we reached out for help. They took the time to speak to us on the phone, and Andy would break things down into a legal language that we could understand. He was very pleasant and cheerful to talk to and the team genuinely made me feel better in those low moments.

We've been in our new home for a month now and we're so happy. 2022 was an experience we never want to relive but we're so thankful for Andy and his team for supporting us through the journey and making it easier when times were uncertain.

Excellent from start to finish! They were our solicitors for the sale and purchase of our properties and the whole experience couldn't have gone any better. Any queries or issues were discussed and sorted (if possible) on the same day. Big thanks to Lisa (Chesterfield Branch) for all her work and help throughout, during what is normally a stressful time, was made easy with her work and support.

We have just moved into our new home after a very stressful 5 months. We cannot praise Annie Hobson enough. She was extremely friendly, efficient and professional. I had a disappointing experience when instructing Elliot Mather for the sale of my property but am not commenting on their ability to perform the legal work for a property sale to a decent standard.
Prior to instruction, I discussed my requirement to be protected from legal costs in the case that the buyer withdrew from the sale and left me liable to pay hundreds of pounds in fees. I was assured that I could buy an insurance policy to pay the Elliot Mather fees in the event that the sale collapsed.
I instructed them and received details of the proposed insurance policy, which would have left me liable to pay potentially hefty fees if the buyer pulled out of their purchase. I don't see why changing the names of a buyer(s) can cost hundreds of pounds as I was happy to continue with Elliot Mather if the sale collapsed and so they would ultimately get their full fee.
Have now gone elsewhere and got a 'no sale no fee' agreement with a firm that are moving things very quickly at the moment.
Clarification: further to your response to my review, I was given a quote whilst on the phone to your employee and was told that a policy for £66 would fully meet my needs. Your email follow up quoted £80 for a policy that did not meet my needs. I advise you to be honest and transparent in your response to reviews!

Very professional and competent company, they replied to emails and got back to us in a timely manner. Offered brilliant advice during our sale/purchase. Special thanks to Jasdeep and Corah @ chesterfield office. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!
