This company has been receiving updates about my tax code for, I dont know how long, I do not remember them being given permission to have this and I have contacted HMRC tonight to complain, I also found out that they were dissolved on 30th September 2025 and HMRC shared my details this week with them on 18th November 2025 which could also be a breach of GDPR, I have logged my complaint with HMRC tonight

I never agreed to allow this ENSIGN ADVISORY LTD to deal with my tax return, but somehow they managed to get my details and claim a Miscellaneous credit from 31 Jan 2018, and a Miscellaneous credit from 31 Jan 2019, and claimed £458.74 in my name in 2022, and they kept the check that was sent directly to them. I contacted HMRC and they said that there's nothing they can do about it because I might have signed some online documents and that's how they got me.
I only noticed this a year later (2023) after working on my tax return.
I feel like this company robbed me, and no one seems to care.
Please, whoever reads this, be careful, especially with this business.
I am telling the truth, and I can prove it. Please don't remove my review again, as it is helpful to many people.

This company received a payment of £717 from Inland Revenue. They only paid me £300...I wrote to them and phoned them....they said this is all I can hope for...nothing else I can do. I made a mistake in trusting them. I should have known better. What is very upsetting is that IR asked me to pay the £717 back...so...you can imagine the frustration. My advice is to avoid.

I have tried to contact this company for the last month regarding a rebate that was issued in 2023!!!!!!! No response from them, I had no update from them. No cheque issued to me however upon contact with HMRC the cheque issued to them has been cashed! No reply on emails and no one answering the phones!

AWFUL CUTOMER SERVICE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CALL FOR THE LAST 3 WEEKS NOT ONCE HAS ANYONE ASNWERED I HAVE SENT MULTIPLE EMAILS AND NO RESPONSE I HAD A CHEQUE SENT TO YOU FOR OVER £1000 FROM THE TAX OFFICE AND NO CORRESPONDENCE FROM YOURSELF!!! PLEASE GET IN CONTACT WITH ME !!! EVERYONE AVOID THESE SCAMMERS

I was assessed for some Covid related WFH tax relief and was never given any feedback took my details and did who knows what with it - My tax code was changed without my knowledge and I am now paying a hefty tax bill for something I have not received in relief - Really poor service and communication was non-existent

Tried contacting this company multiple times via email and calls leaving voicemails and never get a reply or answer!

They’ve sent out a cheque which is out of date and I’m unable to cash it

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!! SCAMMERS!!!!! Would give zero stars if I could. Very similar situation to others who have given these scammers 1 star reviews - I received a letter from HMRC stating that I had paid too much tax and was owed a tax refund but that the cheque was sent to Ensign Advisory. I have never signed any agreement with them, instructed them to act on my behalf and certainly not to accept cheques on my behalf????? I contacted them and the scammer on the end of the phone had the cheek to say that they would send me a cheque for £5 of the £60.88 I was supposed to receive!!!! Disgusting. Reported to action fraud.

I wouldnt give 0 for this company the tax office passes over underpayments or overpayments and guess what they are affiliated with gov.uk so just a bunch of cant say word cos they stop you posting on here who want to earn money via an issue with tax office.
the receptionist is not customer friendly throwing phone down and then not answering wont give the CEO email address and guess what cant find them online to email.
Give a wide berth to these people who dont have a clue and have them done for fraud!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't even give these guys 1 star, they charge 35% plus vat and on top of this fees they charge £100 for admin, Yes £100 for admin which world are these guys living in. I'd advise anyone who's looking to apply for marriage allowance look into alternate companies with less charges I have used one before with less charges or do it direct through government website. Also you can't contact Ensign Advisory, if you contact through email good luck with a reply and I'm still waiting for my cheque for £183.38, If I did it myself I would have got a cheque for £488.58, I'm sure you guys can make a better choice after reading my review.

How are these criminals still trading? Also who are they paying to write them 5 star reviews!?
As if ANYONE would be happy with being scammed out of their tax rebate?

I have got the time very quickly and it's very nice I'm satisfied.

To anyone thinking of using this type of service - BEWARE. I gave ENSIGN authority to claim a 'Working from Home' tax rebate on my behalf in May 2022. When the cheque finally arrived ENSIGN had taken nearly ALL of it. Their details also stay attached to your HMRC account, which means that any and all tax rebates due to you in the future GO AUTOMATICALLY to Ensign (who then send you a cheque for the pennies left over). My advice: file the claim yourself directly with HMRC, and if you have already used 'financial services' such as these in the past, immediately contact HMRC directly and have them remove any historic third parties associated with your account. This will prevent you from getting re-fleeced further down the line.

Received the money that was owed to me from the government thanks to these people who helped me
