Horrible experience!!!! I have been with them for 22 years!! I have never been blind side by this company before until this year!! They took $499 as an infrastructure upgrade without an obvious notice to let all the customers know we were going to be charged this. When I called them , they stated on their answer service " if I was calling about the infrastructure upgrade , it was stated on our JULY STATEMENT that would be taken out in November!! Really?....I look at my July statement and it was on the back in the tiniest letters that this charge would be taken out. Not bold letters so all of us can see this but small letters so no one would confront this. That is so unprofessional and sneaky....they have access to our accounts and we agreed to the regular fees from the credit cards not from this Phony fees!!! It gets worse!! Than they took another $500 for an annual fee on January 2nd!!! With the additional fees from the credit cards....that was over$1400 out of my account without my consent!!! I'm a small business and that is alot to take when I'm budgeting my accounts......when I called in the beginning on January to cancel, the nice lady said she could not Reimburse the $1000 dollars that they stole from my account, frustrated with the response so I canceled and was told there will be no more fees as long as I mailed back the machine. We'll they lied about that too, I was just charged another $184.82 for non deposits from them. I called and this rude lady on the phone said because I didn't give the company 30 day notice!!!!! I'm so frustrated with this company!! They were never like this before!!! What a fool I am for trusting them and should of blocked them from taking any other charges out!!!! I'm definitely going to dispute this as well as finding out legal rights on this scandal that this company thinks its there right. If you are currently with them....cancel now!!! EVO has a sleazy system designed to extort fees exceeding 10%
EVO has a sleazy system designed to deceive their clients. Relationship started out normal and as expected. But quickly became pages of extra charges and even a $499 annual fee. They skim what became 9.20% (over 3 years from 2.5%) in discounts off the top of charge card deposits to my account. Then they bill an extra deduction from my checking account at month end (on top of the 9.20% skim) from EVO pages and pages of nonsense fees that would resemble a close facsimile of what the original fee agreement. They don't offer mailed statements and reports. You're never directed or given portal login data. You have to call customer service to get back into their portal. I believe this is intentional. So when balancing my checking account I would check the EVO deduction for end of month fee deductions and it was close to the original agreement. This is deceptive because, in actuality the month end checking account debit fee were on top of the 9.20% "discount" skim. This should be criminal. Drop these scumbags and do business with a bank's merchant services that doesn't play these bait-and-switch fee games. Banks won't risk losing a client over just one piece of the financial relationship. And finally, these exorbitant rates and fees wasn't because of my credit rating (780 FICO) or charge backs (0) or returns (0) or anything that would warrant paying 3 times what was agreed to initially. Beware, check your EVO statements regularly, smack these criminals down or drop them the minute they step out of line.

I attempted to cancel my EVO PaymentsâŠ
I attempted to cancel my EVO Payments account twice via email and never received a response. Over a year later, I discovered the account had not been canceled and monthly fees continued to be charged despite no processing activity. The account was only closed after I called, and no refund (other than most recent charge) was offered for the fees charged after my cancellation attempts (Over three thousand dollars). I recommend other small businesses get written confirmation if they choose to work with this company.

This company has the worst rates and customer service and highest additional nonsense fees. I deliberately closed my account late December 2025 and then saw a charge for their annual fee of $450 plus additional nonsense fees adding up to $630 on Jan 2nd, 2026. They said because I had 2 transactions in December that I was responsible for paying for the 2026 annual fee. They also charged a $450 infrastructure upgrade fee in Oct. I rarely used them and as a busy solo practitioner was stupidly not checking the fine print on my statements âŠ.. which by the way you now have to have THEM send each month statement to you since they are having âtechnical difficulties â on their new platform. The fine print detailed that upcoming $450 infrastructure upgrade fee, but you have to really read all the fine print. They are probably barely legal but I encourage anyone with them or considering using them to NOT!
By the way, my percentage rate sneakily crept up from 6% to 10% over the fall months. Ridiculous. Pay attention to this scammy and unethical company who take 2 hours to answer their phoneâŠ. If at all. Do not give them access to your bank account, you will regret it.

This company is a complete scam! Charges our account without our permission 450.00 for a fee. I was on phone with them to have them refund it and they are going in circles. I asked for a manager or a supervisor they have none available to high call volume well duh. Everyone is calling in because of all the money you are stealing from their accounts. I demand my money. I will continue to call tolls I do get it. Then I will cancel and have others that use this scam of a business to do so as well. Shame of a company. They never called back with a supervisor they called back with a random person. They said they would reinstate 50% back into our account at the end of the month. I have low hopes of that. Do not trust this company they are scammers!
Less than useless
One star is not low enough. I have been with EVO for far too long and will be looking elsewhere. I don't do that much credit card business with them, but that does not deter them from adding extra charge, after charge, after charge, including the one they just pulled, supposedly a one-time infrastructure fee of $450... $450!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I am the office manager for a chiropractic office that used EVO processing several years ago. We recently discovered that EVO has been charging us monthly fees since closing the account in 2015. We stopped receiving email links to our statements back in 2015, leading us to believe that our account had been successfully closed.
After recently switching to a credit card that charges only a flat monthly fee, we began to question why we were still being charged processing fees. What we thought were fees we were paying to a more recent company, were actually fees that we were being charged by EVO this whole time. The charges showed up on our checking statements so similarly to our more recent, expected charges, that we never questioned them.
We have been in contact with EVO regarding these charges, and we are getting nowhere. They offered to refund us the charges for the past year. Keep in mind they have been charging us for the past 10 years! They keep changing what they are saying, often contradicting their own terms and conditions.
We have saved all communication with them, and even found emails we had sent them in 2015 to confirm that the account had been closed. At one point, we were told that we would be receiving a full refund, only to be told later that they would refund us for only the previous year. They are still continuing to charge us! We spoke to customer service on the phone who told us this recent charge was an error and we would be reimbursed within 48 hours. It has now been almost 2 weeks, and we have yet to see that. When we reached out to customer service via email, they again told us the charge was an error and we would be receiving the credit on September 26. So once again, we are being told different things.
We have provided our attorney with our initial contract as well as all of our communication regarding this. He is telling us we have a very strong case and will be advising us on next steps this week.
DO NOT do business with them!!

They will say no processing fee but they will charge you around 7% total fee's at the end of each statement under various bogus names under settlement/discount and this is how they get you. Iâve been with EVO for 22 years, and this has been the most frustrating, condescending experience Iâve ever had with a company. All I wanted to do was connect my e-commerce shop to their payment platform. After numerous chats, phone calls, and emails, no one would help me. When I finally called to close my account, I was met with a dismissive rep who treated me like a child, giving me âwarningsâ for using the word bullshit to describe the system â not directed at her personally, but at the mess EVO put me through. Totally unprofessional. On top of that, they make cancellations deliberately difficult, forcing a 30-day wait while still collecting fees, and their only âsupportâ is an AI bot. After 22 years of loyalty, this is how they treat customers. If you value your time, money, and sanity â avoid EVO at all costs. They are now Global Payments, and Global Payments is far worst.
Avoid EVO Payments: Frozen Funds, Slow Payouts, and Fax-Only Chargebacks
I processed with EVO Payments for five years and canât recommend them. From the outset they imposed an unrealistically low per-transaction limit, so any larger order failed automatically. Even when sales went through, funds sat in limbo: EVO held each daily batch for up to five business days, so payouts often hit my bank a full weekâor moreâafter the sale. Chargebacks were managed only by fax, with no online portal, turning every dispute into a paperwork chore. When I closed the account, EVO froze $10,000 in reserves for six months before finally releasing the money. Worse still, their contract requires a personal guarantee, meaning your personal assets are on the line even if you operate under an LLC. If you value cash-flow stability and modern support tools, look elsewhere.
