ExtremeVPN failed to honour my cancellation request.
Two days ago, I received a very unpleasant surprise. I got a notification from PayPal telling me that my annual subscription to ExtremeVPN had auto-renewed. I was shocked, because I was certain that I had already requested cancellation. I always keep notes on what date each of my subscriptions end, and whether it will auto-renew, or if I have cancelled it already. I checked my notes -- yes, I had indeed cancelled ExtremeVPN. I also logged into my ExtremeVPN account to double-check. Yes, the 'Cancellation Requested' was already switched on. I tried to click on it again just to make sure, and I got an error message saying: "This account has already had a cancellation request submitted so you cannot submit another". I took screenshots of this.
When I contacted ExtremeVPN about this, they asked for proof that I had sent them a cancellation request prior to the renewal date. I don't know how I am supposed to prove what date I requested the cancellation, as I never received an email confirming it. I believe what happened is that when I requested cancellation, the administrators somehow missed my request and failed to go through with the cancellation. This is why I never got an email confirming it. How can they possibly hold me responsible for their error?
In the end, I have no choice but to dispute this false charge through Tangerine. This is just unbelievable. I realise now I was right that I requested cancellation. I cannot possibly recommend ExtremeVPN to anyone else, and I am posting this review as warning to others.
