Filmustage was a very valuable tool for me making a first pass on breaking scripts down to then build budgets off of.

However I became more impressed recently with their customer service and their understanding of the tough times film industry employees are going through.

When my yearly subscription was renewed I was not in a place financially to afford it and they were able to issue me a full refund and understood my situation.

I really enjoyed the product and look forward to renewing my subscription once I have my next gig in place.

This is an excellent, well designed and very useful product for production planning. I am the writer/producer of an historical fiction streaming series. Filmustage was crucial to developing a budget for the production of the pilot episode using a virtual production methodology. By automating the breakdown of the script by scene, sets, costumes, props etc. and assign specific imagery I was able to disseminate detailed information to vendors who could provide quotes that I had confidence in.

I came across Filmustage two or three years ago. Having worked in film and mostly television production as both a VFX Supervisor and Director for forty years, this AI tool is absolutely amazing. It is such a help. For those who know, if you're an AD finishing an episode on a Thursday night with your next episode's concept meeting the next morning, prepping can be challenging. With Filmustage, it can do a breakdown of the episode in minutes while you read the script. It will hand you the necessary departmental documents to come in to that meeting better prepared and ready to discuss this new episode.

Because it can do a breakdown, stripboard, along with a host of other tools to check legal and now with a budgeting tool and VFX as well, Filmustage is such a help with the ability to be pliable and adjustable for more detailed notes and information compiling during prep.

I have used it on four of my own projects and am always loving the ease and help that it provides. The good news is that Filmustage is being made more robust with each version that is released. That translates into greater efficiency and more time saving.

If you work and live in production, then you know time is money. There is no time to waste and the more efficient one can be the more prepared and the more options the show will benefit from. I truly love Filmustage.

Filmustage's AI script breakdown is spot-on! It quickly identifies characters, props, locations, and other key elements, making pre-production way easier. I can’t believe how much time this saves!

Before Filmustage, breaking down a script was a nightmare. Now, I just upload it, and the tool does all the heavy lifting. If you’re in film production, you need this!

This is a major time saver for many aspects of the script breakdown process. The staff seem to be really working hard to take on suggestions and I have no doubt this will become a highly sought after tool. As it stands, the tool could use an undo button for small accidents like combining the wring two characters in the character tag section, but with that resolved, the speed of being able to get a breakdown for so many things so quickly is very impressive.

definitely a gamechanger for ADs and Line Producers who need a quick breakdown and a schedule for budgeting.

Update on 2/18/2025

The company is making updates to the speed of the program. I am going to continue testing it with a new script, but at the moment it seems the speed has improved.

As an indie filmmaker, I had a 118 page script to tag to create a shooting schedule. This would usually take up most of my day. Instead, this AI tagger knocked it out in less than 5 seconds. When I then saw the tagging results in their scheduling application, the program had also created a one line synopsis for reach scene as well. Wow. Super useful!

This is an invaluable tool! I needed a quick breakdown for a feature script and was able to use Filmustage to output no less than three budget scenarios within an hour. I'll definitely be using it throughout pre-production and will recommend it to my students (after they learn how to do it the hard way first).

I use Filmustage for several month now and I find it very helpful for quick breakdowns. Adore the option for making AI synopsis of each scene. They are also very quick in their feedback on each question I have. Recommending it for directors.

The team at FILMUSTAGE is are incredible! I got the program and has some issues. Ivan was lovely enough to take the time for a video call where he did a very thorough demo of the product where I learned about super cool features. This product is leaps and bounds better than Studio Binder (though I think that works as well) and certainly more user friendly than Movie Magic. Buy the program as it will not disappoint!
