Absolute development requirement
I don't think I could even put into words how much I've done with GitHub. GitHub has allowed me to store all my development projects and version them very easily for free since I started development as a hobby. Personally, I don't know what I would've done without GitHub. Their hosting is great, their education benefits are amazing and more keeps changing that makes it more and more awesome.
Support is non-existent
I submitted a ticket to request a reinstatement, and it has now been more than three months without a single response. Iâve regularly checked the ticket and inquired about any potential updates, asking if they need additional information, but there has been no response. After waiting for three months, I tried opening a new ticket, only to be told, âThis ticket appears to be a duplicate.â So, I have no choice but to continue waiting even longer for a response that will likely never come. They havenât even explained why my account was flagged. Iâve only created two small projects on GitHub, so I donât understand what could have caused this issue. While I understand they probably receive a high volume of requests, three months without even a âwe are looking into thisâ is absolutely unacceptable.
The registration for the GitHub Education Program
The registration for the GitHub Educational Pack is dehumanizing. It starts with the location query. Why is location needed? If it is required to verify that the student is at their study location, that would be completely unfair. What about students who are currently abroad? Or students who are at their hometown?
In general, the location query on Apple is completely unintuitive, as you have to change the privacy settings for the Safari browser or use a different browser.
Then we move on to the upload. A document in image format, specifically PNG or JPEG, is required, which means you either have to take a picture or select an image from the data on the device you are currently using.
Letâs start with taking the picture. If you use the computerâs camera, it doesnât focus. The phone or iPad camera works great; the photo is crystal clear. However, when you try to upload the image, you get a notification that the image can be a maximum of 1MB, and you have to restart the registration. What is the point of the capture function then?
When you want to select a file, none of the required documents can be found where they should be, since GitHub requires the document in image format. So you have to take a screenshot and send it, but be careful about the size; otherwise, youâll need another screenshot and another registration attempt.
Then I wonder which document is required. We have a student ID without an expiration date, which cannot be used. We also have the enrollment certificate, which of course has no picture on it.
Both have been rejected so far without any further contact.
As a last resort, I see a collage of both documents, but who has that much time?
Finally, all efforts are in vain if you have not added any billing information. This information only comes after the failed registration attempts.
I really wonder if this form is designed to provoke an attack because it couldnât be more confusing and opaque.
I urge immediate adjustmentsâitâs 2024.

I have been *actively* using GitHub for about 1 year. It's a good product for almost all developers.
Later on, I wanted to activate GitHub Copilot. At the billing part, they were *not really specific* weather I should use my physical address or billing address. I got confused. Moments later, my account got suspended.
I created a new ticket, waited for about 2 months as of writing this review,, still no feedback, I mean no response except their auto-generated ticketing email.
This is the reason am rating GitHub 1 star; Please have empathy despite large support request from many users;

Service and what if offers is esentially good. But the flagging system, and the support sucks. I've been false positive flagged as spammy account, making my profile, my public repos, all my PRs, comments, all my contribution visible only to me. Support answered after 2 weeks that I've pushed executable code without source code which is not true. I asked them to point which files are thouse in their opinion - over a month with no answer.

Extremely Disappointing Service and Unjust Account Blocking
I have been a loyal GitHub user for several years, but I am deeply disappointed with their recent service. About three months ago, my account was blocked without any clear reason. When I attempted to contact support to resolve the issue, they claimed that I had created multiple accounts, which is simply not true.
Whatâs more frustrating is that after this initial response, they completely stopped addressing my tickets. Every time I open a new support request, they close it without any investigation or reply. This has caused significant disruptions to my work and projects.
GitHub's handling of this situation has been utterly unacceptable. Blocking my account without a valid reason and then ignoring my pleas for help shows a complete lack of customer care and accountability. I expected a higher level of professionalism and support from such a reputable platform.
I hope GitHub takes this feedback seriously and improves their customer service and support systems. Until then, I advise others to be cautious, as you might face similar issues without any recourse or resolution.

GitHub is one of the best platform for source code management, it incredibly been positive & transformative for the project code management. Managing the codebase, tracking the changes, wonderful pull request and branch mering feature, pull & push etc. has made a pivot for developers.
My favorite feature is integrating with CI/CD across various platforms helps for auto deployment.

GitHub has a fantastic UI and provides excellent service. I recently subscribe to premium plan (I think it costed around $4 a month) and I think it is relatively cheap for the service being offered. I don't know why it is rated so poorly on TrustPilot.
