Delivered to wrong address on island , no apology, 4 weeks ,now 2026 bought last year, captain bob drey man useless

A group of 10 of us had Sunday lunch and it was absolutely fabulous. The food, the portions and the atmosphere was amazing and well priced. Everyone in the group enjoyed their meal and all said that they would be back. Well done to the fantastic team 👍

Goddards' beers are no stranger to me, in fact my local pub serves both their strangely named, 'Fuggle De Dum' and their GSB (Goddards Special Bitter). This however was the first time I had visited their Isle of Wight brewery restaurant at Arreton.

The restaurant had only just changed its hours, we visited in late afternoon and were able to learn a few things about the brewery from staff as we were the only customers at first. I expect that this will change quite soon, as soon as local people hear about the new longer hours.

My thanks to Lorraine, who talked us through the range of beers and made us welcome. Additionally, and especially, to the boss Robert 'Bob' Simpson, who although clearly quite busy, spent some time giving us a potted history of the brewery.

The restaurant itself is raised above the brewery, so that you can look down upon the brewing floor. Previously you would have had to become a member to enjoy the facilities, though this has now been curtailed. If you want to know how your beer is brewed, I recommend that you call in and take the brewery tour.

On a final note, Goddards brew a traditional Benedictine ale for Quarr Abbey at Ryde. I hadn't seen it available anywhere before and it is 'nectar'.
