Suet is the firm, crumbly fat from around a cow’s kidneys and loins. Ours is 100% internal organ fat, left unrendered, so you can cook with it as is or render it into tallow at home.
Beef suet for cooking and baking
Suet melts at a higher temperature than butter, which is why British cooks have relied on it for generations for flaky pastry, steamed puddings and mince pies. It’s also a great fat for frying and roasting. Hunters mix it into lean venison and elk for sausage and burgers, and rendered suet is the traditional fat in pemmican. Bird lovers use it for homemade suet cakes, too.
Why grass-fed beef suet matters
Grass-fed cattle have been shown to produce 2 to 3 times more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) than cattle raised in confinement [*]. CLA occurs naturally in beef and dairy fat. It’s not the same as the artificial trans fats in partially hydrogenated oils, which the FDA no longer recognizes as safe for use in food.

Loved this SUET! Will order again, was cleaned. Went in bag and placed in roaster. Very clean, rendered 3 times, one wet and two dry. Packaging was excellent., shipping fast also. Will order again and bigger order next time! This picture is what i have left. Use for making cold process soaps and body products.

I used a bit of suet in the first Mincemeat I ever made and it is delicious. Have used the rendered suet in pie crusts which does make a good flakey pastry. I plan to render the balance of my last purchase for cooking.

I bought the suet when I want to add some more fat. I am still finishing up the 1.7 lb tubs of tallow I purchased from them. So I cannot say about the taste. Anyway fat is fat. I did divided the suet into freezer bags. I watched a podcast where some folks will eat some suet strait out of the freezer if they want some extra fat. I am not anyway disappointed from any products I have purchased from U.S. Wellness. I just like the fact that U.S. Wellness supplies their beef from small grass fed/finished family farms. We all need to support small regenerative family farms. If you do not have have a local farm near you to support then U.S. Wellness Meats is a perfect place to start. I am not purchasing any meat product's from overseas even if it is grass fed.

Suet was loose in the wrapping, so not sure if it is any good. In the past, I have received suet that had all the air out of the packaging.
