Easy to get around with free visitor passes for all transport and attractions. Ascot Hotel a bit dated but wonderful staff and pretty good food served buffet style at breakfast and dinner.

Really enjoyed trip. Packed itinerary and a free day to choose what else to do. Great hotel service and Dave the coach driver with thrilling commentary of our drive down part of TT course. Fully recommend GRJ.
The hotel was good, food made it excellent. Being situated on a steep hill was not good. The group leader made the experience poor. She was in a difficult position being being a stand-in at the last minute. Poorly prepared, no contingency plannng. Eg my friend was very sea sick on the inward journey, no assistance given.
A really interesting tour with a very knowledgeable coach driver which made up for our friendly tour guide who was making her first Manx visit. An excellent Hotel with good food and friendly and helpful staff. Catered for me as a Coeliac better than any other hotel or restaurant I have experienced.
A beautiful Island. So much to see and do, Itinerary worked like clockwork. Coach driver was excellent and his knowledge was unbelievable. You really felt you had gone back in time. Steam trains, electric trains, horse drawn trams snd normal trams. Very friendly and helpful people,

Excellent, well organised trips with plenty of interesting things to do and obtained a comprehensive picture of the island. Very good tour guide and lovely, well informed local driver. Well worth doing.
We had an enjoyable group holiday on the Isle of Man with Great Rail Journeys. I would have preferred to have had the option to fly to the IOM as the journey too and from the IOM by train and ferry was tedious, necessitating a stop in Lancaster en route. The itinerary once there was excellent, as was the hotel - especially the food. Even the weather played ball. Our tour leader had not been to the IOM before and it would have been better to have had an experienced guide, but she was very pleasant and worked hard to give everyone a good time. I would travel with Great Rail Journeys again. I would have preferred the holiday to have been 8 days rather than 6 as there was not enough time to visit all the places I should have liked to visit, but realise that it would have a cost implication.
Very well organised by John, he even managed to provide good weather! Food and service at the hotel was very good. They even managed to get my wife’s phone returned. Rooms were adequate, some stairs were a bit steep and the lift was only for two due to servicing. The excursions, both coach and train were enjoyable and informative. On the strength of our experience we have booked a GRJ trip next year in mid Wales

Really pleased to have this experience of visiting the Isle of Man. Delightful towns, excellent museums, lovely countryside and coastal areas, seeing seals. We enjoyed visits to castles, the great Laxey Wheel and riding on the heritage railways. All the staff at the hotel (the Ascot Hotel) were excellent, hard-working and friendly. Food was excellent with good choices. The bathroom was well-appointed with constant hot water. Some work needs to be done to bring rooms (at least ours) - and lift - up to a better level. We enjoyed staying and being in Heysham the day before meeting our leader.

This holiday was our Honeymoon. It would have been nice to have had some recognition from either the Hotel (a free drink) or from Great Rail (a card) as I've seen it happen before when people have a birthday while away. There was a last minute change with regard to the Ferry but Great Rail dealt with it well. The Ascot Hotel was lovely. Both Breakfast and Dinner were Buffet with plenty of choice. They catered for Gluten free. The only downside was that the Hotel is not disabled friendly. Steps at the front door and down to the restaurant. Small lift. The holiday was brilliant. We got to see lots of places on the Isle of Man. Hassan the Tour Manager was fantastic. He produced lots of artwork during the Tour for the places we visited. He was very talented. We certainly want to go back to Isle of Man in the future.

We had a great time on the isle of mann although we did have good weather.
Brilliant time.
Our time on the Isle of Man was very good but the outward journey was badly organised and the return ferry journey to Heysham was absolutely awful and should never be used again by Gt Rail! No reserved seating on an overloaded shabby ferry and Heysham, to be blunt, is a dump! If I was a first time traveller with Gt Rail this would have been my last.
A lovely experience of the treasures of the island.
