Great Start Karate provides live online karate classes for kids ages 5–18 across the United States and Canada. Designed specifically to support homeschool PE, our small-group classes deliver real-time instruction, personalized coaching, and encouragement from experienced black belt instructors. Kids feel seen, supported, and motivated to grow — not lost in a crowd. Families choose Great Start Karate because it’s a flexible, high-quality solution for physical education at home, and a positive community where children build confidence, focus, discipline, and character through meaningful training. Our interactive Zoom classes combine martial arts skills, fun challenges, and monthly Life Skill themes that help kids succeed in school and everyday life. Students progress from white to black belt with clear goals, leadership development, and the pride of achieving something meaningful. Founded by Jan Stockton, a 3rd-degree black belt with over 36 years of experience developing children’s martial arts programs, Great Start Karate reflects decades of passion and innovation in helping kids grow in mind, body, and character. Our mission is to help kids grow strong from the inside out—building skills that last a lifetime. Jan Stockton is also the author of PE With a Purpose, a forthcoming book for homeschool families focused on intentional movement as a foundation for learning, confidence, and lifelong growth.
