I've previously used this companyâŠ
I've previously used this company through my employer without issue. Guild is a company that awards sponsorships for education through your employer. In September of last year (2024) I recieved a letter via email confirming that my sponsorship had been approved. The way this works is that the guild approves your application, sends you an email with sponsorship letter attached, and gives you instructions to submit the letter to a specific department in your educational institution. I followed instructions as I previously did. My school confirmed receipt of the letter and marked my classes as having been covered and that I no longer owed tuition. Further into the semester I was contacted by the accounts department of my school to be told that The Guild is claiming my program was not approved and is now refusing to pay. The contract between myself, the guild, and the school was breached by The guild resulting in me being in debt that I would not have inccurred if it were not for The Guilds practices. I would not have taken classes at the time as I knew it would be an unwise financial move. I'm now being told that the schools policy is to forward my account that I cannot pay, that has an outstanding balance, to collections which will result in damage to my credit which I've worked diligently to improve. The failure of the Guild to fulfill the contract has resulted in multiple forms of damages and now on top of the stress I'm being faced with the cost of legal fees to pursue correction of the issue. Also, to top it all off, I've been met with disrespect by the employees of this company when contacting them. I've been told the approval is not in their system even though I have the email from their company's email address with the attachment. A superior business practice would be to acknowledge mistakes made and correct the issues they create for their customers. I previously recommended The guild to coworkers but can't imagine I could have anything positive to say about this company or recommend them after this experience.
