I recently visited Hairware in Stroud with a friend to choose a new wig following a diagnosis of permanent hair loss. Coming to terms with the fact that I will be a long-term wig wearer has been an adjustment, so finding the right wigs and the right support is very important to me.
Before my appointment, I sent over a few ideas of styles that I liked, and Toni had clearly sourced as many that were in stock before I arrived. From the moment I met her, she was incredibly kind, patient and knowledgeable. She carefully talked me through the different options available and listened to what I was looking for, making the whole experience feel relaxed and supportive.
The salon itself is beautifully air-conditioned, which was particularly welcome on a warm day, and the fitting room is comfortable and welcoming. Most importantly, I never felt rushed. Toni encouraged me to take my time and try on as many wigs as I wished until I found something that felt right.
Having a good selection available to try made a huge difference, and with Toni's guidance it wasn't long before we found a style and colour that suited me perfectly from Petite Wigs, an Australian company that produces lightweight styles.
Toni’s advice was invaluable, not only in helping me choose a wig but also in explaining how to care for it, how often to wash it, and how to get the best from it in everyday wear.
I left feeling much more confident about my future as a wig wearer and grateful for Toni's expertise, patience and genuine care. I would highly recommend Hairware to anyone looking for a wig, especially if they are navigating hair loss and need understanding, professional support.

I ordered a very small (manmade) hairpiece, with a comb attached to secure it in place. It cost £34.99, which itself is extremely overpriced, and then had to pay an additional astonishing £7.90 just for postage of this tiny article which could easily be posted in a jiffy bag. I grit my teeth and went ahead with the purchase, as I have had three chemo sessions in the last 5 years and my hair is looking very thin and tatty. I received an email confirming the order, 48 hr tracked, and promising a further email when the item was dispatched. It arrived a week later. No dispatch email was sent as promised, so I had already chased it up. I weighed the hairpiece on its own , 1.5 oz, tiny. I weighed the whole package, a small box stuffed with shredded paper, which was way over the top, 5.3 oz. Delivered by Royal Mail, not even a courier. £7.90. Complete and utter rip-off. I've checked the RM website. This package, with this size box, up to a weight of 250g (9 oz) , tracked 48 hrs, costs just £3.50. Absolutely shameful extortion by Hairware, both for the price of the item, and the fraudulent charge for postage. And don't give me any scripted patronising replies about protecting the item in a box instead of a jiffy bag. That still doesn't justify extortianate prices for what was sent. And, I have received hundreds of far more delicate items than a bit of nylon hair and a plastic comb in jiffy bags with no damage. You should be totally ashamed of yourselves.

Had booked a consultation with a friend and we were made extremely welcome by Vicki right from the start. After an initial chat around styles and budget, she disappeared for a few minutes, returning with a pile of boxes … and so the session began!
Vicki had clearly listened to what I thought I wanted but also had some options she thought would suit me better. And so it was that her first suggestion was the wig I bought. In fact I only went over budget because I bought two!!
Thank you Vicki. A wonderful experience. No pressure, no up-selling, just great advice sensitively delivered. I won’t go anywhere else for my next wig(s)!

A friend and I visited Hairware in Stroud today for a consultation on new wigs.
We saw Vicki and tried on a selection of styles and colours within our agreed budget.
I am very impressed, we were there for 2 hours, there was no pressure, and no trying to upsell outside our budget or sell us accessories.
They have a good range of styles, colours and prices.
We also got lots of tips on styling, care and maintenance, storage etc.
Well worth a visit.
Cannot recommend them highly enough.

Really good customer service from Vicki and the team at Hairware. As it happens, I returned the wig I purchased but only because it didn't suit me. The help and advice I received was brilliant and I have no hesitation in recommending them as an excellent wig retailer.

I first came across Hairware through a friend who gave me very good feedback about them so I interacted with them in Instagram where I have a wig wearing account and I am already a loyal friend here. The feel is very much of a small company where people call you by your name and remember you and the products are high quality. I recently won a competition and they were so generous and lovely to me. I highly recommend and I will visit the store one day as we have family closeby!

I am very happy with the customer service and products I have experienced from Hairware, and have no hesitation in recommending them. My recent purchase was particularly challenging as it had to be conducted remotely because of the pandemic, but my contact(s) were very kind, patient and understanding, and we ultimately achieved success.

So easy to order and a very speedy service. My wife was very pleased with her wig, I think from memory this will be her 4th or 5th wig. She will definitely get me to order another for her when the time comes.
