The whole thing is shameful

Pointless waste of time. Achieve nothing. People are being paid lots of money just to move emails around. Dreadful. “I am afraid our office cannot comment on the money you are trying to retrieve. As you’re aware, the Independent Assessor cannot comment on the outcome of a case”. Powerless. Pointless.

The independant assessor at Fos did not even respond to my complaint of a data breech. No response to my email. which the fos admitted in an email to me but offered me 80 for their poor service but i lost out 1 grand and the complaint has not even been investigated . Also this company takes bribes from the bank what W*nkers they are. We need to start exposing these b*****d's that's the only way we will learn about them.

Even if the responsibilities of the Independent Assessor were to be discharged with a proper level of integrity, the role of the Independent Assessor is restricted by her Terms of Reference to matters that are relatively trivial. Whilst it might be annoying to a complainant if the progress of their complaint were delayed, or if a member of staff at the Financial Ombudsman Service were to have an offhand manner, it is probably more important to that complainant that their complaint is treated with a proper level of integrity, and that a decision reached on the basis of all of the relevant evidence.

I have recently had experience of two separate complaints made to the Financial Ombudsman Service, both of which were referred to the Independent Assessor. My experience leads me to believe that the Financial Ombudsman Service asks the financial institution against which the complaint was made how it should respond; and that the Financial Ombudsman Service then relays the response of the financial institution, no matter how nonsensical that response might be.

If a complaint is then made to the Independent Assessor, then my experience leads me to believe that a similar procedure is followed. That is to say, the Independent Assessor asks the Financial Ombudsman Service how she should respond; and that the Independent Assessor then relays the response of the Financial Ombudsman Service, no matter how nonsensical that response might be.

Your wasting you time going down this route, spend time getting a lawyer

As I thought they are very biased towards agreeing with the Financial Ombudsman Service. How the Investigator of the FOS can make a false statement about a discussion we had that covered all the points I raised about his decision, which he says took place, and we never had is not only disgraceful but for the Independent Assessor then to agree with him shows how inadequate this process is. I think Independent Assessor may give the public a misleading sense of security. I think this is just a case of giving a job for the boys.

Pointless service, the Financial Ombudsman are a disgrace and this service exists to bury the wrongs and close methods of redress. Plastic authority that is not fit for purpose in my honest opinion. In short a total drain on resources that could be better spent elsewhere
