Horrendous experience - AVOID at all costs - I wish I had consulted Trustpilot before placing my order!

I ordered 4 Hay Palissade chairs in November 2025 for £634 at 50% off, paid full. 3 months later: no delivery. Claimed Parcel Force destroyed them (unlikely - as made of heavy metal) - tracking showed return to sender— suspect resold at full price. No phone contact (voicemail full), 41 emails ignored. Only after chargeback threat did the owner refund — no replacement despite stock showing available on website (removed from site post-request). Insult / useless offer of £20 voucher off future orders! Forced to buy elsewhere at double price, to get in time for Summer! Caused stress/financial loss and extreme waste of time. Business is understaffed, owner replies from his personal email, North London Store closed down, website message saying "we are in the process of moving premises" still up 4 months later but website still shows outdated Highgate address, no VAT GB247160514. Signs that the business is trading under financial stress, I have reported to Trading Standards —AVOID!

We are sorry that you remain dissatisfied and appreciate the opportunity to clarify what happened.

Your order was dispatched within the agreed timeframe via our courier. Unfortunately, the shipment was not returned to us as expected. We were formally informed by the courier that the consignment had been disposed of through their internal process and could not be recovered. This was entirely outside our control and resulted in a significant loss to us as well.

As soon as this was confirmed, we issued you with a full refund. We did also explore replacement options at the time; however, due to supplier lead times and seasonal stock constraints, we were unable to source an identical replacement within your requested timeframe.

We respectfully disagree with several statements in your review, particularly suggestions regarding resale or our intentions, which are incorrect. That said, we genuinely regret the inconvenience and frustration this situation caused.

Very poor experience with Inside Store.

I placed an order for a rug (£121) on 8 December 2025, which was listed as in stock. Despite this, I had to chase the company for updates, and it took until 3 January 2026 for them to attempt delivery, almost four weeks later.

According to Inside Store, the item was hand-delivered at 2:05am on 3 January and left unattended outside my front door in central London without my consent. Unsurprisingly, it never made it into my possession.

When I contacted Inside Store, they confirmed that their colleague had left the parcel at my door and even shared a photo. I initially asked for a replacement, but they said they had contacted the police and would wait for the outcome of an investigation before making a decision. Regardless of whether the police investigate or not, the retailer is responsible for ensuring the item is properly delivered to the customer.

After that, communication effectively stopped despite further emails requesting a resolution.

In the end I had to raise a dispute through Klarna. The process took about five weeks, but Klarna reviewed the case and issued a full refund.

Between the long delay for an allegedly in-stock item, leaving a parcel outside without permission, and then failing to resolve the issue or continue communication, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. I would strongly advise caution when ordering from Inside Store, as you may not receive a refund without escalating the issue through your payment provider.

Thank you for responding.

However, a few points in your reply are inaccurate.

The rug was listed as in stock when I placed the order on 8 December 2025, yet delivery was not attempted until 3 January 2026, almost four weeks later. This delay occurred before the courier stage and cannot reasonably be attributed solely to seasonal courier delays.

More importantly, the issue was not simply the delay in the delivery. According to the information and photo you provided, the parcel was left unattended at 2.05 am on a public highway outside my property in central London without my consent. I did not authorise a safe place, and the item never came into my possession.

Under UK consumer law, responsibility for the goods remains with the retailer until the customer takes physical possession. Leaving a parcel unattended on a public highway without authorisation does not constitute successful delivery.

You also mention that the matter was escalated internally and that you were awaiting the outcome of an investigation before confirming next steps, however, well over a month passed without any update or outcome being communicated, despite repeated attempts on my part to contact you. It remains unclear what was being investigated or why it required such a prolonged period, particularly given that the retailer remains legally responsible for the goods until received by the customer.

For clarity, the last communication I received from Inside Store was on 8 January 2026, when I was informed the matter would be investigated. I followed up on multiple occasions but received no further response.

More than two months have now passed without any update. In the meantime, the matter was ultimately resolved only after I escalated it to Klarna, who issued a full refund following their review, despite Inside Store never responding to my follow-up enquiries.

Given this, it is unclear which aspects of the review Inside Store disagrees with, as there was ample opportunity during this period to provide an update or resolve the matter directly.

Your order was dispatched as soon as it became available for delivery. Due to seasonal courier delays around the December–January period, the delivery took longer than originally anticipated, for which we apologise.

Regarding the delivery itself, the parcel was delivered by our driver to the address provided and a time-stamped photo was taken at the property. Once a delivery is completed at the address supplied, responsibility typically transfers in line with standard delivery terms. However, we fully understand your concerns about unattended delivery and took the matter seriously.

As soon as you reported the issue, we raised it internally and also escalated the matter for review, which is why we advised that we would await the outcome of the investigation before confirming next steps. We regret if our communication during this period did not meet expectations.

We note that the matter has since been resolved via Klarna, who issued a full refund following their review.

We respectfully disagree with some aspects of the review but do apologise for the inconvenience caused and remain available should you wish to discuss the matter further.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars, I would. I have a partial order from back in November still outstanding and another order from January. (I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt as the first time I reached out after 3 weeks of no communication, they said the items I ordered had been damaged in the move or had gone out of stock. They sent me the item they had in stock and I agreed to wait for the rest of the order when it was available). I have emailed them since many times and had no response. They now have quite a lot of my money and I have no way of getting it back, or finding out if I will ever get the items I paid for. They are possibly the worst company I have ever dealt with in terms of customer service. How do I get my money back if nobody will respond to me?!

I will be reporting this company to the regulator

I ordered char legs in July 2025. I emailed chasing about my order and was told the legs were now not available but alternatives could be sent. I agreed to this and never received the order. I have repeatedly emailed over last few months and have heard nothing. I will be reporting them to the trading standards. Never buy from this store.

Avoid this company

Avoid this company! Ordered a Christmas gift on the 2nd December and after multiple ignored emails followed by a complaint to my bank I finally got my delivery on the - 5th January!
Terrible (non existent) customer service other than automated email responses which are taken no further.

Avoid InsideStore at ALL Costs!

Buyer beware! Read the reviews -- virtually everyone echoes the same experience I have had.

My experience was/is a dreadful, months long ordeal. I ordered an item in August (!) no updates, no communication, no transparency. I repeatedly attempted to contact InsideStore and they continued to delay and defer. The shipping dates they promised passed at least 2-3 times.

After nearly four months, I contacted my credit card company and they refunded me for this mistake of purchase.

Here's the kicker -- InsideStore sent the item to me anyway (after I'd be refunded by my cc). I've repeatedly requested that ParcelForce come back and get the item from me. But InsideStore again has dropped the ball and cannot coordinate with the courier, so I'll be paying out of pocket to ship their abandoned property back. Absolutely dreadful.

Some people are NOT suited to be trading: see InsideStore. Avoid at all costs! It's beyond me how businesses like this don't have legal action taken against them.

Where is my order lol

Ordered on 16th December, January 5th now and my order still hasn’t been posted.

Emailed them around 20th December to ask for an update - no reply to this day.
In fairness, I DID get notified of my order being shipped a couple days ago. Just now gone to check the tracking progress - the shipping company have not yet received the package.

Really bad CS and business running.

Don’t order!!

It took almost 3 weeks from ordering to receive the four mugs that I ordered, when I finally did receive them they had sent the wrong colour. I had chased about my order for weeks via email with absolutely zero response, the phone voicemail inbox was also full and they never answered the phones so it was impossible to get in touch with them. I finally received the mugs on the 19th of December, after ordering on the 30th of November, but as they are the wrong colours they are not suitable for the Christmas present and it’s now too late to order them anywhere else. I have sent them an email about this, but it will probably take them weeks to even get back to me.

Deserves zero stars

Deserves zero stars. Scam. After ordering and paying online there’s no hint that they intend to fulfill their end of the bargain. How can you have a website that sells products with no fulfilment and no response from customer service? I don’t care if you’re moving. You can’t sell stuff if you don’t fulfill orders. Full stop.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Absolutely appalling quality and customer service. I ordered a lacquer table that came with flies trapped in the paint. I then ordered 2 candle holders and completely randomly they cancelled half the order, so only sent one. When i tried to follow this up the phone lines were permanently closed and the Live Chat was repeatedly ended before any level of solution had been provided and before the conversation had been concluded.

Frustrated and disappointed

Really frustrated and disappointed by Insidestore. Unable to get through on the phone and there’s been no response to emails.
Order placed 02/11/25 for 2 Nathalie du Pasquier prints (475mmx675mm) with oak frames. The prints were delivered rolled with 500x700mm separate, inferior quality frames, which are too big for the prints.
Also on the same order is a HAY plant pot which still hasn’t arrived.
I’m concerned that we’ve been swindled due to having no response from Insidestore to address this and complete the order we payed for.

Poor customer service - still waiting for my order placed 8 weeks ago!

Really lovely stuff on the website but frankly appalling service delivery. Same as many others from what I can read. They decided to move premises but didn't put measures in place to maintain customer service: phone lines don't work, emails take forever to be responded to, when they are they have no valuable/ helpful information about missing item that has been ordered nearly 2 months ago. Appalling really.

Scam of a company - avoid

Like many other reviews I had a terrible experience. Waited months for a footstool to be delivered & kept getting told the matter was being escalated to head office/warehouse, with no answers. Eventually got a full refund but this was with constant emailing & phoning. Absolute of a company & such a shame as their products looks nice.

Extremely disappointing service

Extremely disappointing service. There has been a near complete lack of information regarding the delivery of an order I placed on 30 October. I’ve been constantly chasing the shop and am yet to receive a delivery information. I used to be a regular customer, so my shock at the total lack of professionalism and consideration for clients is all the stronger.
