I fell for their slick appeal to find secrets to make travel less expensive. We paid for their rag for 2 years and never learned any of the secrets they alluded to in their ads. Now they claim to have a book, but you can only buy it if you subscribe to their magazine.

I am a 7+ year customer and signed up for lifetime membership specifically for their monthly mailed magazine--then shortly thereafter they eliminated monthly paper magazine (I wrote and complained but of course nothing changed.). It was clearly bait and switch.

Now they are rising my "annual maintenance fee" to $49--that is the cost of new subscription. for only electronic delivery. haha on me.

I feel ripped off.

I just tried to wade through their website to cancel my membership and it is very difficult to navigate-get blank screen! So you can't--you must call them. (I don't live in U.S.!). UPDATE: THEY SEND FOLLOWUP EMAIL WHERE I COULD SEND THEM A NOTE.

This business is very good at irritating their customers. THAT IS NOT HOW YOU RUN A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS!

POSSIBLE SCAM FOR LIFE TIME MEMBERSHIPS !!

I was long time subscriber, enough so to sign up for a Lifetime Membership paying over $150. Then, without notice or communication, they cancelled my membership!! After contacting them, their very rude customer service agent told me it had to do with “account maintenance” lapsed bank fees that were never paid and which I knew nothing about (??). She then absolutely refused to find a solution and told me there was “nothing they could do.” I then asked to speak to a supervisor and the agent promised someone would call be back “within the hour.” Of course, no one ever called back.

I TRULEY BELIEVE INTERNATIONAL LIVING IS A SCAM. THEY OFFER YOU A LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP, CHARE YOU BIG MOENY THEN FIND A WAY TO VOID WITHOUT ANY FORM OF RESOLUTION. I HAVE LOST ALL FAITH IN THIS ORGANIZATION AND URGE OTHERS NOT TO TRUST OR, AT THE VERY LEAST, DO SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN FOR A VERY BAISIC SUBSCRIPTION!

If I could give a zero I would

If I could give a zero I would. It's a scam! I fell for their sales pitch after a webinar, and paid $79 for a subscription. They said multiple times there was a money back guarantee if you weren't satisfied. I can log in, but I can't access any of the online articles; the website keeps asking me to log in again. I've contact them FOUR times, and all I get is an automated email telling me how to log in. I've followed all their directions and tried some of my own (deleting cookies), but I still can't access any articles. I get multiple emails daily, all trying to upsell and get me to subscribe to even more. BUYER BEWARE, THIS WHOLE THING IS A SCAM! I have reported them to the BBB, and will be contacting my credit card company to disputed the charge.

Deceptive

The subscription offered additional information that was free with the purchase. After payment confirmation, I had a response that I could spend an additional $495 to receive the content I was supposed to receive. Very deceptive practices and I immediately cancelled.

Chock Full of Information!

The conference sessions were very interesting even regarding subjects I didn’t come to learn about. It was well-organized from beginning to end, and I met lots of terrific people. The reason for only four stars is that my European country of interest, Portugal, only received a 10 minute session, as did the other countries. A lot of the conference seemed catered to investors. In addition, the information booths were mainly for countries in Central America. I don’t recall seeing one booth for a European country. Nevertheless, a good time was had and I learned a lot.

Some good content but too much upsell

Some good content but too much upsell. I have been to two boot camps and did buy into the Explorer program. The value for money was lacking overall. The sales of special newsletters on Crypto and gold reeks of problems.

The conference was A++. I came with preconceived ideas about where I wanted to go and the conference confirmed it but also provided other countries and opportunities I hadn’t thought about. This was 100% comprehensive. A soup to nuts conference in what to do to move to another country. Just fantastic.

Bootcamp / Captive Audience / Pitching Unwanted Products to Unwitting People

Went to the Bootcamp. Was not impressed. This "bootcamp" could have been a 1 day event. The first day was interesting because they had people living abroad telling you about their respective countries and why you should live there. The rest of the time was on an unwitting and captive audience that was not prepared for them pitching real estate, oil and gas leases, coins, and non-grantor foreign trusts. The worst part was Ted Bauman. He is not a lawyer. But, he got on the podium and gave incorrect and misleading legal advice to the audience. I am a lawyer. I know. They have a "disclaimer" in the back of the handout that they never made obvious to the customer that purportedly absolves them from all liability if you take or rely on their advice. Shame on them. They need to stick to showing you how to move overseas; not invest your money or give you bad legal advice. In California that is call the unauthorized practice of law and it is a crime.

Some good information but uneven presentations and lack of presentation.

I liked that a lot of information about various countries was available and that there were representatives with whom to discuss various issues about which we have questions or in some cases which we hadn’t considered.

In my opinion, the individual presentations varied widely in quality, depth, and usefulness. As an example, many things discussed by the presenter on moving internationally was potentially useful but his slides were unreadable given background picture and type font. Similarly, another presenter talked about slow walking through Europe without leaving Europe but didn’t explicitly state how to do that. Many presenters obviously had not practiced, some were not the greatest public speakers, some hadn’t proof read their slides or had content coordinated with the slide. Many presenters flipped through slides so quickly that it didn’t make sense to have had a slide in the first place although the rapidity of their flipping through slides in most cases reflected poor time management in their presentation or accrued time loss across multiple presentations in a session block. All reflect a lack or quality control and preparation both by individual presenters and by IL.

Finally, it is not useful to have a short introduction presentation followed by a more in depth discussion later in which the former information is repeated in whole taking up the short time available. Moreover, while I recognize there is an issue with wanting to repeat some sessions, there are presenters who materially took up too much time of the overall conference to the detriment of other content (RETA repeated in whole or part at least 2-3 times, CRYPTO in part at least 3 times, etc.). While I recognize there may be demand for that content and it is central to IL’s content and services, your attendees likely only need one opportunity to see that and presenting it once without competing presentations would afford much more time in your schedule to accommodate more in depth or longer presentations of other information that is just as important and harder to acquire.

To close, the food service within the conference was too little and the time for lunch given the number of attendees and venues nearby was too short.
