Best experience.
Beautiful scenery, food and wonderful people. It a very safe country to travel around with excellent train and bus services. The yen currency is low so very cheap for food, hotels and shopping. They practice mindfulness seriously- they are mindful how they talk and there is no loud music or chatter, no eating outside while walking, no perfume in restaurants and no beard ( they are getting more tolerant). l love it as l have perfume allergy and sound sensitivity.
l love Dormy hotels with onsite hot spring as it really improve your health. The food suit me as l have food allergies and is a paradise for milk and gluten free diet. This is a safe place to eat.
l am still cruising to Japan but l resent the limited time in each port and the enormous cost £10000 for 2. You can do it by 1/2 for 3 weeks including food. l am planning to book Dormy hotel by Kyoto station, as it is accessible to nearby tourist spots by bus 50p or fast bullet train. Easiest way without even reading a book, go to sat nav, click hotels, it is graded/ price with location to nearest bus/ train. Next click cafes, sushi, mochi, musuem, art craft etc and they are all located. Best shops are secondhand as Japanese have very good qualities and even graded 5 star! Success is based on your own research and preparation and a lot of time is needed.
You can see Tokyo central in a day but it will take weeks to explore different districts. If you do want to see Tokyo, stay near an accessible hotel with train link. l stayed in Hotel Fontaine which was superb but over an hour to city with complex connection. Don’t book too early as Japan has earthquake every 8th day but that is more on certain tectonic plates.
