A 7 minute rant⊠Udemy, "IT-Helpdesk Technical Skills Bootcamp"
I took the course in Udemy, "IT-Helpdesk Technical Skills Bootcamp"
For those with patience and willing to push through and fast forward through marketing bla bla, there are IT-Helpdesk NUGGETS of GOLD. Changed my rating from 1 to 3 to be fair.
I just listened to a 7 minute rant about poor reviews, and another 1 minute defense of the poor audio quality, which had a very good point about live recordings being difficult to keep at the same volume other recorded content.
First, the poor review video named "IMPORTANT VIDEO before starting this training" That was a waste of my time. Instead of a 7-minute tantrum you could've spent just 1 minute saying something to the effect of "Please watch all of the videos before submitting a review of this course."
Second, regarding the video "Audio Quality Information." I haven't even reached the live recordings yet and the audio is already all over the place. The 3-minute Bootcamp Introduction sounded absolutely awful - audio was garbled and also very loud, as if you used a poor quality mic and raised the amplification up or just recorded at a very low volume and then raised it in post. For a 3-minute intro video, you should have simply re-recorded the audio at a better quality. Next at video 4 "Learning Goals and Download Resume Template" the audio volume was very low compared to the others. Again, not a live recording as far as I can tell. Ironically, videos 2 and 3 (where you were complaining about low reviews and defended yourself against legitimate complaints about poor audio quality) have the best audio quality so far.
** This makes an absolutely terrible first impression. **
I'm aware that review scores are very important, but there's always going to be people who give a low review without any proper thought. What you *can* do, however, is simply provide a good product so that the good reviews outweigh the bad ones.
If your business is to create educational content, then having good videos should be a top priority - that includes both content and audio quality. Unfortunately, it seems that creating a long-winded rant about bad reviews is far more important to you than actually improving your content. Please take a step back and look at your content from the perspective of a viewer.
Final note: If this over marketing and excessive shaming of students would be tone down, I would rate this as a four stars, and the potential is there for five stars, but 3 stars it will remain. Calling a student a "liar" or is "lying" is NOT acceptable, NOT acceptable and also not acceptable from Udemy either for this to remain, period. Inconsistent audio isn't a deal breaker for me, but childish rants and unwillingness to improve are completely unacceptable.
