Finding out that I had cataracts at, in my opinion, was a relatively young age, shocked and terrified me. I have been very short sighted from a young age and had a severe astigmatism. Mr Ballagan talked through the process and gave me various options. He helped me make a difficult decision and reassured me through every stage. His secretary Debbie helped with before and after support. I would thoroughly recommend them both.

I found that my experience with Dr. Kam Balaggan was highly commendable. He was extremely helpful and ensured that my comfort was a priority. I had full confidence in all the information he gave me while I was under his care being to the upmost highest standard. I couldn't recommend him more highly.

I'd always had a phobia about eye surgery, and was scared about losing my eyesight. So was apprehensive when I met Mr Kam Balaggan, to say the least.

I recently underwent a double vitrectomy by Kam and his team. Kam's support, advice and overall field excellence made a huge difference which led to a hugely positive change in my day to day life

I had 2 cataract operations carried out by Mr Balaggan some months ago. He was very kind and explained everything in a way that was easier for me to understand. He said that one eye would need a more complicated procedure because of the existing problem of Macular Degeneration.
Both eyes are very much improved.
The whole experience was made more comfortable because of Mr Balaggan's professional approach and his kindness. I felt very safe in his care.

Between 2022 and 2024 I had five different operations with Kam Balaggan on my eyes. Holes in the macular, cataracts, and latterly, laser treatment. I had my cataracts treated to last April and May Excellent experience with no pain or discomfort.
What I was not prepared for was how sensitive I would be to light/sunshine and the difficulty I would have obtaining suitable reading and computer glasses.
Consquently you have many pairs at different locations
In December I noticed a difference in my vision, consulted my Optician and was quickly referred to Mr Balaggan who advised that I needed Laser treatment which he carried out immediately and the following day my vision was much improved however my prescription has changed so back to my Optician and am at present awaiting delivery of more glasses

Gentle, kind, caring and totally professional, is the way I would describe the service from Mr Balaggan.
He explained very clearly what my problems were and what the solutions were, in a manner that was easy to understand. When the time came for my surgery, the care from his support team was superb. They made me feel relaxed and cared for. The cataract procedure was very quick and painless and not at all scary. The results from Mr Balaggans skill are totally amazing! I cannot recommend this surgery highly enough.

I was, to be honest, terrified of eye surgery, eyesight is kind of important to me. Nothing about the experience of cataract surgery with Mr Balaggan was in the least bit worrying and I thank him for the gift of confidence and better vision. I was kept well aware of what was happening and everyone I came into contact with was friendly and helpful. I now can see without specs (need reading specs for very close) which is the first time since childhood.

I had a pars plana vitrectomy in my left eye on 8th February, I had the same procedure in my right eye on 2nd January 2021, also with Mr Balaggan.
Anybody who has tried unsuccessfully to live with the day to day complete misery of a Weiss ring floater and then the absolute unspeakable joy of having it taken away forever will understand me when I say that this is the 2nd time Mr Balaggan has given me my life back.
I had general anaesthetic for my 1st vitrectomy because I was so nervous but Mr Balaggan recommended sedation this time as in between the 2 vitrectomies I have had cataract procedures in both eyes with sedation only.
I can honestly say I felt absolutely nothing and could only hear the odd word or two between Mr Balaggan and his team so I would very much recommend sedation as the best choice for eye surgery.
12 days on my vision is so amazing I can't quite believe it, I think after being so miserable for months I am a little in shock to be honest.

Mr Ballaggan's skills as a surgeon and rapport with patients is impressive.

On my first contact he fitted me in for an initial appointment at the end of his list that day and arranged surgery for my detached retina 36 hrs. hours later, demonstrating the urgency the illness requires.

Every aspect of his care for me was exemplary. I am pleased to recommend him.

Having had both of my eyes operated on by Mr Kam Balaggan to sort out cataract problems, I have to say its the best thing I have had done which makes such a difference to my everyday life and enjoyment.
